Avatar f tn t have pernicious anemia (B12 deficiency). I have pernicious anemia and have to self inject vitamin B12 every 2 weeks. Also, a good multi vitamin/mineral won't hurt anything, but if she's on thyroid med (synthroid, levothyroxine, etc) make sure there's a 4 hour separation between the thyroid med and multi, since there ARE vitamins/minerals that inhibit absorption of thyroid meds.

Beyond that, as I suggested, I think you need to give you body some time to respond to the thyroid medication and these supplements and see how you feel. As for your questions about those tests. I found the following info.
Avatar n tn Goolara pretty well said it all--- I am hypo/Hashi and have both low vitamin b12 and vitamin D. I've been on b12 shots for over 2 years (should have been a lot longer) and just recently found out about my vitamin D deficiency, so have not started a treatment for that yet. In fact, that reminds me that I need to call the doctor about that............................lol I'm finding that both vitamin b12 and vitamin D deficiency can cause fatigue just as hypothyroidism can.

Avatar n tn org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/Gluten-Free-Diet-Lowers-TgAb-but-not-TPOab/show/1003484 Deficiency states commonly found to be low in thyroid patients include vitamin D, vitamin B12, and magnesium. The University of Nebraska Medical Center research study has determined that patients with chronic hives may benefit by supplementing with vitamin D.
Avatar f tn The vitamin D council recommend vitamin D serum between 125 - 200nmol/L (50 - 80ng/mL) year round. Vitamin B12 deficiency is another cause of infertility and this deficiency is common with hypothyroidism as well. Optimal vitamin B12 serum is over 600pmol/L (800pg/mL). From what i have read, when trying to conceive make sure your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is no higher than 1 or 2 mU/L. There is also evidence that thyroid antibodies level can affect fertility.
Avatar n tn Hi I am new to this and have a few questions. I was diagnosed with B12 anemia almost a year ago. I suffered from severe fatigue, memory loss, personality changes, high blood pressure, and loss of feeling in my hands and feet. I started injections and have been on them for year now. I have been feeling better I only need about 10 years of sleep instead of 18. I still have poor memory but not near as bad and so on. I thought after the shots I would feel much better but I don't.
Avatar n tn In addition to that I was advised to take Adkal-D3 which consist of Calcium Carbonate-1500mg and Vitamin D3-400I.U. However I did see him again last week and he suggested a blood test to be done as follows:Vitamin B12/Folate profile,Full Blood count,TFT:on T4 replacement. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn Then I went for a Vitamin B12 test and diagnosed with 59 points of Vitamin B12. Then started B12 injections and using them from last 2 months. Now when I retested them, everything is looking good (D3: - 43, B12: - >1400, Thyroid: - Normal range). Still I am facing same weakness and fatigue. Tingling sensation in hands and legs. I did a research and found that, persons who are using acid suppressing tablets from long time will obviously have B12 defficiency.

Avatar m tn In addition it is very important to optimize Vitamin d, B12 and ferritin. D should be about 55 min., B12 in the upper end of its range, and ferritin should be about 70 minimum.
Avatar f tn Vitamin B12 deficiency is a certainty. Forget the B12 "normal" serum levels. Vitamin B12 symptoms occur in "normal" levels. This is well documented in scientific literature. For this reason, Japan has risen the lowest level of B12 to 550pg/mL. Nexium causes vitamin B12 deficiency (and plenty of other deficiency states) as it lowers stomach acid essential to release instrinsic factor needed to bind to vitamin B12 for absorption in the gut.
Avatar f tn There are a number of processes and variables that affect the response, including Reverse T3, cortisol, Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin. Due to the many processes and variables involved, there is no direct measure of the thyroid status of a person. The best indicator of a person's thyroid status is an evaluation for symptoms that occur more frequently with hypothyroidism than otherwise. You have several symptoms that can be related to hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn t forget the importance of adequate levels of Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin. You can supplement those on your own, without the doctor having to prescribe anything.
Avatar m tn Hypothyroid patients taking thyroid medication adequate to relieve symptoms usually will have suppressed TSH, Free T4 at least mid-range, Free T3 in the upper part of its range, Reverse T3 no higher than mid-range, and cortisol, Vitamin D, B12, and ferritin that are all at optimal levels. What thyroid medication are you taking and what is your daily dosage?
