Swollen glands under jaw in children

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen glands under jaw in children

swollen

I first saw my doctor in April with swollen glands in my neck I have seen him 3 times since, today being the most recient. The swollen glands NEVER go down. They don't always hurt but it is getting more frequent and severe. My doctor said today that we would try one more antibiotic and steroid pack for 1 week and for me to return for a follow-up that if the "KNOTS" are still there in one week he wants to do a scan.
The whole side of of my neck is these hard swollen lumps all the way up to under my chin. I'm 99% sure it's swollen glands, but I've never had anything like this before. Only on one side and from my collar bone to my jaw bone. My throat doesn't really hurt and my only other symptoms would be feeling a little tired and waking up with a little blister on my tounge. Anyone ever heard of this as a pregnancy thing or should I be worried about mumps or something like that??
I also started the other day with a small rash on stomach it looks more like an irritation not sure if it has anything to do with my glands swollen. I also had ear pain in the beginning but better now with the Flonase. Why would my glands stay swollen? How long does it usually take to go down? Could it be cancer? Thanks.
The pain goes out from the lump to the outer groin and beginning of the leg...So it could be linked to glands in the groin.
ct scan also shows i have in my abdomen,and under arms... two weeks ago i had one swollen so bad in my inner thigh area could barely wak from the pain.my pcp wants me to see a hemo/oncologist... rob i pray all is well with you,deb u as well.
When I swallow feels like something is sticking in that area. I have ear pain, jaw pain, temple pain, and a swollen lymph node in neck. I have noticed a small hard knot in front of my ear right in the TMJ joint. I have seen 2 gp, 4 ent, 2 oral surgeons, 1 neurologist, and a regular surgeon. No one can give me anything but a MAYBE neuralgia, acid reflux, tmj disorder, and muscular issue due to bad posture. They just want to put me on gabapantin without a diagnosis.
She is acting fine otherwise, but, I took her to the vet last week and he gave her a shot of pregnazone(msp) and anitbiotic pills ~~he stated that her glands under her jaw were a little swollen and said she had an upper respriatiory infection, which is not common. Told me she would be 100% in 2 days. She did not get any better so I took her to the vet yesterday. She has about 4 lymp nodes that are enlarged. He took a blood sample, we will have the results by this afternoon.
I have muscle spasm in or around the ribs on both sides (in the front under the breast and sometimes in the back at the same horizontal position), it feels like a ball rolling, in that it switches sides. It occurs even at night during sleep, painful enough to wake me. I only know that when I relax and stretch (the side where the knot is) using several positions I have to wait till it goes away, in many cases to have it return in other places described above.
I am in my 60's and have only just started to have either a swollen face or, on the last two occasions, a swollen tongue, which all started in September. The first time I had a swollen tongue was 4 weeks ago and I ended up in hospital. I had already taken Piriton but it didn't help. At the hospital they gave me Prednisolone which worked very quickly and I was packed off home with another 2 days supply.
Because I was moving my jaw laterally a lot I thought maybe that was the reason. But this morning I wake up with definetly a bit swollen left side under the ear. I can feel it from the outside, and it is about the width of my index and middle finger when feeling it. It's swollen between the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the jawline. I am not sure if it's a thyroid gland or an infection or just a thing that'll go away.
I also have the neck stiffness, pain in the hands and arms although I have had pain in my arms and hands for years and have written it off as being Carpal Tunnel as I am a Network admin and was a Welder/Fitter/Mechanic for several yearsuntil the back injury. I have pain under my arms, in my groin, under my ribcage, in my chest and also in my legs. My ENT told me that the lumps that I was feeling were Lymph Nodes but thought it was a residual infection or MONO, but did no blood work to confirm.
I ended up in the hospital but all my tests came back clear so i was sent home, but the next day my lymph nodes in my neck, under my right arm and in the crease of my arm were slightly swollen and really sore and the muscle in my arm was really tight and hard to move.
Well, I'm tired of the swollen feet and ankles, it hurts, tired of my hands being swollen and hurting. I had so much fluid in me, it was painful to drive a car. I ended up ordering a hair analysis, so desperate for answers. I'm still waking up with hands very swollen and achy all day,and joint pain. My knuckles on my hands are starting to look deformed from the inflammation going on inside me. My fingers are like sausage links.
about a year ago i started getting readdly red eyelids, that would swell up in the morning so much sometimes i cd not see, the doc gave me anthistamines and steroids. they calmed them down a bit only, then i started to get redness under the eyes and swollen under the eyes in the morning with deep eye wrinkles, they come and go and i have no idea what to do, ive tried steroids, all the creams, changing my makeup, not wearing contacts, and nothing...
I'm worried because the back of his throat appears to be inflamed. Like his tonsils are swollen and his glands under his jaw are nearly always up. His father and uncle had their adenoids out as young children and I am not sure if problems in this area are hereditary.
As all this was going on I was clearing my throat all the time of really thick flem and then one day my throat felt swollen, not even really sore ( LIKE MY HEAD ) but swollen. Sure enough it was sinus drainage and the glands in my throat were swollen. I wasn't getting over a cold, and my sinuses were never stuffy, they were always clear. A dr. put me on a nasal steroid spray and slowly the pressure in my head that i had for months started to ease up.
I sometimes feel burning sensation at the back of my thorat and sometimes, itchy, ticklish ears, sometimes pain in my upper jaw. But, I have not taken tests for sinus. My nose usually gets slightly blocked when i hit bed. When i sit on direct blow of fan/AC, my nose gets blocked n a hollow feeling in my throat. I m hypochondriac. Little worried. Can anyone please help. thanks in advance.
Also there is nothing in my nose anymore, just pressure in frontal sinus, and upper jaw cacking when that happens.......I think antibiotics are my first line of things to try now.
This is all the time and I have also noticed his glands under his jaw are nearly always up, especially on one side. His Dad and Uncle had there adenoids removed as small children and I wondered if problems with the adenoids was hereditary. I'm getting him to the doctors tomorrow, If I can get an appointment, but I would be interested if anyone has any ideas to what the problem may be.
~~~FEB. 10TH LAST PART~~~ It's now been two hours since I had my little taste of radioactive nom noms. And nothing. I have no gallbladder and the worlds most sensitive GI tract. I just finished five grueling days of my GI tract not holding anything ...lets say ...in...and I eat some drippings from a waste pan in Fermi and I'm fine?! My body is so weird. So yeah, nothing RAI 131 is nothing to me. No anti-nausea pills needed. My jaw is a little sore. Throat too. Overall no real complaints.
vitamin B is what helps you deal with stress- so as I have been under a lot of stress I'm sure my body has used all the vitamin B I had in it & needs more & the burning calf is it's way of letting me know. The body is a cool thing indeed! Hope this is helpful!
(had tonsils removed from chronic strep at age 19) Along with the sore throat I have swollen glands on both sides under jaw line, quarter size lumps about 1 inch from shoulder on both sides of my neck and a thick, sticky, brownish substance ( not mucus, this is something I have never seen before) in the back of my throat. I removed some of it with a clean q-tip gently but as I was removing the q-tip it felt almost as if I was pulling a layer of skin off of the back of my throat.
About six years ago, I noticed nasty little puckers and crepiness in the crook of my elbow. About six months ago, the skin under my underarm (on the inner side of my arm) started to look saggy. I have an antiaging blog and have used this to document everything logical to be done about this since many of my readers are experiencing the same.
I went to my local DR and he gave me some antifungal lozengers which have no effect on my tongue. My groin feels swollen and sometimes my glands at the back of my jaw feel swollen.I have had trouble eating and lost about 4 kgs (9pounds) in weight. I had a HIV test at 5 & 8.3 weeks which both are negative. At the time I was under a lot of stress waiting on results on another HIV test which ended up being negative at both 8 & 12 weeks which matches with the 5 & 8.3 week test.
It's good to know that im not alone, i've been having pain in my left shoulder, like under the blade. It hurts up through my neck at times and my left arm. The weird thing is, it aches worse when i breath hard or swallow hard or food. I've only been experiancing this for a few days but it seems to be getting worse and i cant seem to remember doing anything that would have provoked this.
