I tried eating some cheese dip a month ago and woke up in extreme pain on my right side that spread across my stomach, threw up and had to go to the ER. The dr swore it was my gallbladder but all tests (blood, ultrasound and HIDA scan) were normal. I tried eating 1 cookie 2 weeks ago with my egg whites and woke up with the same pain just not as severe but I didn't throw up this time. Now I hurt all day long (right middle side).
I have has right side pain that started about 6 years ago right under my ribcage about where the gall bladder is. It was constant but pretty local to a small area. Over the years it has grown to all over the upper right side at times. Front to back but mostly on the front. I have noticed also now I burp more and of late seem to get more indigestion. I have seen 3 gastrolgists and had every test you they could recommend except a liver core which the doctors don't want to do.
Besides the liver, the pancreas stretches from the right upper to left upper quadrant and the pain is usually felt deep as your describing. Ask your Dr. to check for pancreatitis. Stomach issues also cause URQ pain such as Gastritis, Peptic Ulcers, and Gastroenteritis. Ask for an H-Pilory breath test to rule that out.
Are there any other symptoms other than pain? Do you experience nausea ? Does it get worse with eating? A little more description will help rule out things.
After gall bladder surgery if you are having pain under the right ribs, and liver studies(were they done—if not get them done) are normal, then it could be due to an abscess. A CT scan should be done. Otherwise it can be due to lingering liver infection. It can also be due to acidity and duodenal ulcer. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food.
I have had stomach pain just under my ribs on my right side now for several months. The pain has been off and on. I will have it several times a day everyday, then some days I won't have it at all (there has been a few weeks that I haven't had any pain also) I have now been getting the same type of pain (dull, burning) on the left side just below my ribs. And now lately I have had a lot of bloating (gas pain) in my lower abdomen. Could this be symptoms of an ulcer (or ulcers)?
I am in constant pain. Mostly on my right side high up, where I imagine my liver is. I sat down heavily on the couch yesterday and the cushion pressed on my back on that side and I got a very strong pain which took a while to subside. At night when I lie on my back I have no pain. If I lie on my right side my left side suffers a

Right side pain under your ribs can indicate high blood pressure. The pain comes from your liver trying to compensate. I don't know how it works exactly but that's what my doctor said. If you were further along I would say it's just your stomach and uterus pushing into your ribs, but since it's so early in your pregnancy it is likely something else. Good luck!
For about 3 months I have had upper right abdominal pain, sort of under my ribs. A dull ache. About a 4 out of 10. I had high ALT liver emzymes when i went to the ER about 2 months ago, but those are now closer to normal. The X-Ray and CT scans showed nothing strange regarding my liver, gallbladder or kidneys. The blood tests and urine tests came back normal. The pain is usually worse in the evenings. What could be causing this?
When the liver swells, pressure is applied to that sack - and then one can feel pain. This pain is pretty exclusively felt on the upper right side of your abdomen and as high as mid breast level - and maybe halfway between your lowest right rib - midway to your navel - but staying to the right side - and not the left

I just presumed it was my celiac disease so decided to sort my eating out as I wasn’t exactly sticking to the gluten free diet. Since then, the pain under my right rib remains but it often spreads down my right hand side and I often get a bout of burping. I also seem to get stomach cramps every now and again aswell. I’m fairly regular to the toilet (2-3 times a day) no change there. I have had a liver function test aswell as a full blood count and all came back normal.
You started off saying the pain was on the right, now you are saying the pain is on the left- please clarify?
You say you had extremely high blood pressure, were sweating, light-headed, and had bad pain under your left rib cage, but you don't mention an EKG? I hope they did one of those as well as the kind of blood tests to check to see if you were having a heart attack? If you feel like you are having heartburn, know that a heart attack can feel that way in women.
I am about 90% sure it was liver pain. It was in the right area and I felt it up under my right rib cage which is where the one part of the liver is.
As soon as I eat something anymore, I get pains in my stomach .
All of the side effects of most abx are that it could cause issues with the liver so who knows.
I'm just going to take a break from abx for a week and really concentrate on building up my liver and gut.
t noticed anything unusual, but when I am standing my upper right stomach sticks out a bit further than the left side. When I push on it it is kind of hard. All three doctors didn't notice any inflammation of my liver... Any ideas of what it could be? P.S. I have had this OCD thing for the past 2 and a half months where I continuously poke that area :S. Maybe I tightened or strengthened the muscles? LOL. It feels a bit harder on the right side than the as well..
Did you mean you have pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen? Right upper quadrant pain and white stool could indicate disorders in the liver or gall bladder. If you have jaundice then it could point towards an obstructive disorder like gall stones. The other causes for pain could be GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), where the acid contents of the stomach came up into the esophagus and peptic ulcer disease.
After first experiencing the pain for several days, i woke in the night with extreme burning pain. My stomach felt tight and full. No position could ease the pain. I eventually vomited a bile like substance and had a low temp of 100. My doctor said I should go to the ER . They did a CT scan and found that I had a partial small bowel obstruction. At this point the pain moved to the center of my stomach, around my belly button. The pain was severe contracting pains.

well i messed my liver up from pain killers, and where your pain is is where mine still is, i havent taken pain killers in over a year now, except for the two days in march when i had my baby, and just fromthat little bit of percocets killed my liver. but also i had my gul bladder taken out a couple years ago, it had stones and caused the same pains so all you can do is get an ultrasound to see.
I just had my gallbladder removed about 3 weeks ago and had right upper quadrant pain/cramping/a fullness or bloated feeling with occasional back pain. I had a gallbladder ultrasound done that showed nothing but then they done something called a Hida scan that showed my gallbladder had only a 16% ejection fraction. I believe 30% or so is normal. When the surgeon removed my GB he said that I had a chronically infected GB that had been causing my problems. Ask them if they will do a Hida scan.
