I have nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and have severe pain in my upper right quadrant that radiates to my side and back. The pain is unbearable when I become active even walking, doing dishes, and normal everyday activities. It is now become painful when I lay on my sides(the right side and stomach is the worse). They are treating the paim with Tramadol and this takes the edge off, but the only way to stop completely is laying on my back and sometimes with my knees bent up.
It's just reoccurring pain localized in the right lower rib cage area, stomach pain, nausea, and pain on the exact opposite side on the left lower ribcage. Certain herbal remedies and tea seem to help the pain which is awesome...but only a temporary relief. The Dr. seems to want to blame it on anxiety but I am getting pain in my sleep and waking up with it. =/ Very grateful he is still running some tests though. Very awesome to have the bloodwork and ultrasound come back with good news.
What can cause tenderness in upper right abdomen with moderate pain that comes and goes. Also it feels swollen and hurts for clothing to touch it?
When the liver swells, pressure is applied to that sack - and then one can feel pain. This pain is pretty exclusively felt on the upper right side of your abdomen and as high as mid breast level - and maybe halfway between your lowest right rib - midway to your navel - but staying to the right side - and not the left Even if your GB has been removed, the bile ducts in the area can still be inflamed and cause similar pain sensations to that of cholycystitis If your unhappy with your Dr.
Hi, I went to a few doctors, and they haven't noticed anything unusual, but when I am standing my upper right stomach sticks out a bit further than the left side. When I push on it it is kind of hard. All three doctors didn't notice any inflammation of my liver... Any ideas of what it could be? P.S. I have had this OCD thing for the past 2 and a half months where I continuously poke that area :S. Maybe I tightened or strengthened the muscles? LOL.
ive been hurting in the top right side of my stomach when i eat.
For the few weeks I've had this weird stomach pain in the upper right abdomen below the rib cage, which seems to come and go. I've been to the doctor and got a cat scan done which showed no abnormalities in my organs. I'm scared that it's something to do with my liver, but wouldn't that have shown up in the cat scan? I am also in a pain management program due to a severe herniated disc and have been taking Tylox (Oxycodone/APAP) for a couple months as needed.

From about 2 years i experience sometimes more often sometimes less often pain around my liver. It is pretty weak pain but i can sense it. Doctors told me I can and should exercise. I stay away from fats I dont drink alcohol since 2 years. But I still feel like puking at 4.00 in the morning, ESPECIALLY if I sleep on my right, liver side. I have this discomfort since around 2 years, I'm afraid it might get worse. But doctors told me I shouldn't feel pain because liver has no nerve connections.

and then when it comes to my mothly periods, they are very strong and comes in crumps resembling liver. could i be having a liver problem? please advice.
Im looking up desieses of the gallbladder and most of them seem to say pain would be on the right side of the abdomen, whereas im feeling pain on the left. Also it seems to be slightly better today, im hoping it will just correct itself. But yes, I do need to tone it down with the drink / drugs.
Lately, while lying on my left side,I sometimes feel an constant aching in my right side (where my liver is located). If I roll over on my right side the pain/ache leaves my body. Is this something I should be concerned about?
I have red palms that feel warm, with white dots sometimes. I do have raynauds. I also have stomach pain on the left and the right side of abdomen. I have had a cat scan, ultrasound, colonoscopy, barium swallow, gastoparesis test, 4 extensive liver function, hepatitis, ect... tests. All hve come back completely normal. The doctors say the pain is most likely from left over scar tissue. They tell me that there is no way you can have a perfect liver and get cirrhosisin three months.
My elderly mother-in-law(92) has almost constant stomach pan or discomfort.
Pain is our body's signal to us that something is wrong. My liver never hurt despite my almost dying from cirrhosis. This could be other things like your gall bladder which can indeed burst, a very dangerous situation. I agree with the others, get to the doctor asap.
The liver does not feel pain, but the lining around the liver can feel pain. I'm UND and have discomfort on my right side that I would term "liver" pain, but all my numbers still look good so I try not to get too worried. Your gall bladder is in that area. It could be that....it could be gastro. I think mine may be related to all this heartburn I have been having. This may sound silly, but for me if my clothing is a little snug...that seems to aggrevate those feelings.
I have that pain right now its in the lower part of my right abdomen... sometimes its in the back.. sometimes it near my gall bladder sometimes it raidiates down my right leg near my hip. I picked up an old ct scan of mine and took it to my new doc.. he has no clue so is sending me for a new ct scan and hida scan this week. I am worried it can be anything even a mass which has grown there from having a fatty liver.
it could seem like it's in the same area. For your liver to 'hurt' well there aren't really any pain nerves in the liver, some suggest around the liver is a capsule but you would think then fast compression or growth would be the cause. By week 8 to go it wouldn't seem logical to be that. Otherwise you could be like me when I got paranoid and I kept poking myself going ah it hurts.......yeah all that poking golly pretty smart of me.
Has anyone had liver pain? I have been told that liver pain is on your right side. I have been having discomfort on my left side under the top portion of my ribcage. I am thoroughly confused by this because the liver is mostly on the left side but does have a little in the area that I feel discomfort. This is stressing me out because I can't find any other organs in that area. Anyone? Thank you.
Your gastroenterologist or hepatologist says it is liver pain? Liver pain is rare. It is usually caused when the liver has inflammation and pushes into nerves and other organs. Cirrhotic livers usually harden and shrink in size. Second in those with liver pain it is usually experienced as a dull pain nd can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sweating. Liver pain can also radiate to other areas of the body such as the right shoulder.
