Try warm jello and honey it worked for me with a sore throat and my morning sickness
The endotracheal tube scratches the back of the throat and causes sore throat. Icecreams, jello, chilled fruits will help in the healing process. Avoid spicy and hot foods. Take a soft bland diet for a few days and hopefully you will be fine. Take care!
The main thing to remember to do is to keep your throat moist - a most throat won't feel as sore and scratchy as a dry throat will and a dry throat is more likely to cause coughing, which will further irritate your throat. If the sore throat is caused by a bacterial infection such as strep, the above home remedies will still provide relief from pain, but like with a virus, it won't get rid of the bacteria causing the infection and in order to do that, you will need an antibiotic.
I took Augmentin 500 3x/day for 10days. After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred. Also taking Pepsid. Throat neg for strep and mouth ulcers neg for Herpes.
My MIL called yesterday (74, in excellent health, walks 3 miles a day) and said that she had been feeling as if something was stuck in her throat. She doesn't have a sore throat, has no redness or white patches on the tonsils. She feels like she constantly has to clear her throat, but feels no pain. She just feels like she's going to choke whenever she eats/drinks. She is in amazing health, and not used to being ill...or going to the doc. This is one symptom that I have no reference for.
A few days ago I noticed a sore, reddish swollen lump on my left inner thigh, right along my bikini line. It has since gotten larger (about the size of a nickel, and more elongated now). It only feels sore if I press on it or rub against it. It seems like a soft lump that moves around with the skin. Last night I applied a warm washcloth to it for about 30 minutes, which made it feel better. Could this be a swollen lymph node, or maybe an ingrown hair?
Hi ladies I have a really bad sore throat...Any of you know what kinds of teas I can safely drink? Thank you guys so much...

Is it safe to take? I'm 34w and have a horrible sore throat that I know is gonna turn into a full blown cold..
A year ago, I had routine knee surgery and when I woke up my throat was sore. The anesthesiologist told me it would be sore for a day or son because she had to use "too big of a tube," she didn't have one that fit down my throat. Oky, well, I didn't think anything of it, but literally two days later I was sicker than a dog. Vomiting so horrible I had to walk around with a trash can!
I started to get the usual cold symptoms (fever, sore throat, runny nose) on the 5th. On the 8th I developed a wide spread of painful blisters in my mouth. There were so many on my tongue and throat and a few small ones on the inside of my cheeks and lips. I went to the er today and they gave me a steroid shot. Tomorrow I will start my perscription. I was wondering how long these blisters will last. I am in a lot of pain and can only eat jello.

My son is 5 yrs old, i have 3 children and my other son had this high fever and sore throat for 48 hrs. My son that has it now has been running a fever foe a whole week. Hes full of cold and said his head really hurts and his neck. I took him to the doctor and he said its probaly only a virus and could be another week before it subsides. All very well for him, i havent been able to go to work and im on the verge of losing my job. My son is sleeping ALOT.
My sister and brother both had their tonsils and adnoids removed when they were young (around 5 or 6) - and lived on popsicles for a few days after with no side effects other than a sore throat. I, however, didn't have any troubles with my tonsils until I was 20 or so. I had them removed at age 24 and it was awful as an adult. I ended up back in the hospital for a total of a week after bleeding profusely.
How high is her fever and are there any other symptoms? Is she coughing, has a cold, sore throat, earache, swollen glands, does she have a rash? Did she have a fall and knock her head? Keep her warm and comfortable. She will probably be off her food, but make sure she is getting plenty of fluids. Children like jello, so if she fancies some, make her some. If her condition deteriorates, her fever won't drop or gets higher, or she develops a rash get her urgently checked out by the doctor.
here are the symptoms, and then I will explain. -sore throat -throwing up -not eating -"barking" cough -high temp... but on the lower end, never over 40c -always wants to sleep I took him to the ER on thursday (he had the symptoms for a few days by then without clearing or getting better), the Dr said he had an irritation to his voice box. Said that it was going around where I live.
They brought me soft food again at dinner (jello, pasta) and I ate it all with just a tiny bit of discomfort (like the start of a sore throat). The next day before I was discharged they served me eggs, bacon and french toast and I had no problem with it. By the time I was home I ate whatever the family had, so I guess I'd say about 36 hours later I was eating normally.
Both of these are simple outpatient surgeries, and will more than likely be done at the same time. Your child will have a sore throat for a while, and will be a little off balance, but it will go away in about a week. Good excuse to spoil her rotten and feed her jello and chocolate pudding. (: Take care! Hope everything turns out allright for your little girl!
Had routine knee repair surgery and the anesthesiologist came out and told me I would have a sore throat for awhile because she couldn't find a tube small enough to put in my trach, so she had to force the one she had down it. The next day, I got pneumonia, but worse than that, I got the most severe pain in my esophagus I have ever had in my entire life!
I dont know if this has anything to do with it but I have had a sore throat for 4 days and cold symptoms. Also one in a while my feet tingle.
Well I took her to the doc today (btw she's 18 lbs 6 oz) and he said she has pharyngitis (sore throat with blisters) and gave her azythromicin. Ok, I agree with that. What I don't agree with is that he said her gagging is becuase she's developing reflux?!?!? My first 3 were on meds for reflux, my first had it horribly. DS2 was given meds but I only gave them to him for a week or two and controlled it other ways. Lily has NEVER been on meds for it. She's never had an issue with reflux.
I taste everything I eate. I have a sore throat and swollen tongue caused from acid reflux I have been having trouble choking when I eat. I have upper left abdominal pain radiating to my back. I stay nauseated all the time. I have trouble sleeping. I burn and sting in the middle right below my breast. I have had reflux for 30 years. I was told 10 years ago I had IBS. My food goes right through me , but I don't lose any weight. I have both diarrhea and constipation.
Your throat will be very sore directly after surgery. Ice and lots of it. Ice chips are wonderful, slushies, sherbert or ice cream. Ice packs provided by the hospital, keep asking for them and keep them on. A u shaped travel pillow. (This will help keep your head from rolling over after surgery, helps to sleep). Take this with you to the hospital. Ice packs for home use and lots of them, the narrow gel filled ones worked good for me.
I am 3 weeks post-TT and doing great. The sore throat from the breathing tube was the worst part of recovery for me. It was really sore! My incision is healing great, and I am now allowed to put lotion/oil/scar stuff on it to help it heal and fade. My surgeon told me not to allow it in direct sunlight for a couple of months, so I'd keep it covered while you are on vacation. Drink a lot of water, get as much rest as you can, and just take deep breaths. You are going to do great.
Moving around when you can will help move that gas out and help alleviate any gas pains you might have. your throat may be a littel sore for a day or so from the tube, but because they usually spray the back of your throat with a numbing agent before they administer the sedative, the sore throat shouldn't be too sever.
They supply a good dose of your daily caloric needs but also vitamins and minerals, as well as helping with hydration. Frozen fruit bars will help with a sore throat, add fluid and a small amount of vitamins. Jello lets your stomach believe it's eating something while keeping you hydrated. Have you seen your doctor and are you on antibiotics? Depending on the severity of the bronchitis, if you've been on antibiotics for at least 3 days, you should be starting to feel some relief very soon.
I have never had any problems with heartburn or burning in my throat in my life Now I CANNOT lie down without my throat feeling a burn not real bad but it's there ALL the time and I have had a sore throat (down near the bottom of my throat only, Not near the Lympth nodes at all and seems to be on the left side more than the right) I would like to mention I have Zero Heartburn, I have tried Nexium 20mg and it does not seem to help also I have tried zantac and that does not seem to help ei
You'll probably be more bothered by the sore throat from having a breathing tube placed during intubation. What Are The Risks? Complications are rare, but with any surgical procedure, there is a small chance of infection or bleeding. There is also a small risk any time someone undergoes general anesthesia, which includes, allergic or medication reactions or airway problems. In terms of overall risk, it's riskier when you cross the street.
