Avatar m tn m having the same symptoms - ear ache, sore throat, sore scalp. My symptoms have all appeared pretty rapidly. I noticed my ear started hurting yesterday afternoon. Today, I noticed my throat hurt and my scalp has become increasingly sensitive to touch. Did you see a doctor? Did you take anything or do anything to relieve your symptoms? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone is able to help me. The last 2/3 days i have had bad burning headaches/scalp which has left my scalp feeling tender & sore. However now when i sniff the top of my head in the center (kind of where a hairband would sit) it feel sore & burny.. is this sinusitis?? I do feel congested on & off & have had a small runny nose along with eye pain (they feel like there is lots of pressure in them).
Avatar m tn All on the left side which is linear in nature when thinking about nerves being affected. My scalp is also sore to touch and every now and then I will feel a sharp stab/jolt to that area. So weird. Definitely characteristic of nerve pain associated with a virus.... just need a diagnosis.
1536712 tn?1294043301 Right now I have a very tender/sore/painful spot in my scalp. It is on the back of my head, the right side of the middle, up against the top of my head. When I press the spot it hurts. When I drag my hand through my hair too. Sometimes it would be more in the front of my scalp, sometimes the other side etc. It's also sometimes more 'widespread', so much of my scakp will feel tender/sore, but I think there is always one spot which is the 'center'...
Avatar f tn I been having this burning and electric sensation throughout my body mostly my head it will last for a few seconds. My scalp feels very sore after wards cannot touch my scalp without soreness for a day or so. Sometimes when its winding outside my scalp is sore. I do not have headaches and I do not feel burning in my feet or hands but I do get the burning and electric sensation in my legs lower and upper. This has been going on for 30 years.
Avatar m tn s painful but sometimes my scalp is a little sore. And my scalp becomes inflamed when I scratch my head or comb my hair alot. I take ibuprofin daily. I understand that I probally have some kind of nerve damage and I guess it takes some time for your nerves to regenerate. But what gets me a little nervous is the swelling of the scalp. Is this something that I will be living with for some time?????
Avatar n tn for several weeks i have been having shooting pains on top my scalp with soreness when the shooting is not going on. I was having tightness also across the back of my head. I have a sore shoulder tendon on the side that has the most pain. Regular doctor put me on skelaxin and darvocets which are not doing anything for me. Could I possible have nerve damage. Do I need to see a Neurologist. I went to the emergency room several days ago and had a ct scan done and it didn't show anything.

Avatar f tn I have a frequently sore corner of the eye that comes on when my neck/shoulder starts to give a problem.Googling it doesn't seem to show this as a common occurrence -so I wonder if this sounds familiar to anyone on this forum. I also suffer from a painful scalp -but not at the same time.
429949 tn?1224691579 I have, for over 2 years, had a spot on my scalp (well, sort of under the scalp) that feels like someone smacked me in the head while I slept. It's only sometimes, and things that seem to aggrevate it (meaning make it hurt more, as opposed to make it hurt) when it's going on is anything with pressure, from touching, brushing, etc, right up to even bending over (increasing pressure to the top of the head). I have NO clue what it is, but I'd love to know too.
1819252 tn?1317092002 Hi everyone. I am 13 weeks into treatment and I have a very sore, dry scalp. My hair is also falling out quite a bit now. I was wondering if any of you have found a product to help the scalp. I have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, but it doesn't seem to help at all.
Avatar f tn These sores can be caused by viral, bacterial or fungal infections. Acne and clogged hair shafts can cause scalp sores, too. Cysts on the scalp are another cause of scalp sores. In folliculitis there is inflammation of one or several hair follicles on the skin causing red, bumpy and pimple-like lumps.Tinea capitis causes round, red, scaly bumps on the scalp's surface.
Avatar m tn I have recurring pain in my scalp and I first started feeling it in my ears and throat. When the shooting pains started moving to the right side of my scalp, I though it was something to do with my nerves. I once had a similar issue on the other side of my head and the doctor said he believed it was a scalp pimple pushing down on a cluster of nerve endings.
Avatar n tn The Last two weeks I have been experincing sore areas of my head. It is tender when I touch or try to comb it. The tenderness is at the top and middle of my head. I have sharp shooting pain in my head all through the day. Nothing seems to take it away. Can you help me?
Avatar m tn t effect other nerve fibers where there was no rash. Nerve pain tends to increase and decrease, even be in different areas and is unpredictably. . There are medications that can ease the pain, Lyrica and Gabapentin are often prescribed. Discuss this with your physician. Again I am not a physician - where your best answers will come from - but I've witnessed patients and friends with similar problems following Shingles. If you do a bit of research you'll find more facts.
Avatar n tn I am concerned that the peroxide and other chemicals in hair color products may irritate the nerve-endings on my scalp. Can you provide any insight?
Avatar n tn I had several years where I was feeling worry constantly about my health -- I ended up with the sensation that my hair had just been pulled out of a ponytail (if youre female youll know exactly what I mean!) very sore and at times part of my scalp would be hotter to the touch than the rest. I believe it was inflamed nerve endings. It sounds like what you may be experiencing.
1230181 tn?1269951024 I have never felt like a nail is in my scalp, but my scalp is always sore and I just chalked it up to always having my hair in a pony tail or bun for work, so in the past to weeks have started leaving it down as much as possible and it so far has not changed. Wish I would offer some advice! Best Wishes!
Avatar f tn Today i went to another neurologist and he said that as the pain is related to scalp and not the headache, it is a case of skin disorder and not the nerve sensitivity. He too examined the lumps closely and asked to refer to the dermatologist, as it appeared some bacterial infection. I have had dandruff in the past which had gone after i switched my shampoo. I have tried different opinions from different doctors and everyone gave me a different answer.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info! I have tried some of the shampoos with salicylic acid or coal tar - all it did was make my scalp worse- sort of firery sore and super itchy. that's why I think its dry scalp and not dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis - the symptoms just don't fit. my hair and scalp are dry, not greasy - even if i go 3 days between shampoos my hair is not greasy. the flakes are small and white and not oily.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with the facial pain as well, more atypical with a constant, dull, boring type of pain in my cheek, the side of the nose all the way over to my temple. I have now had pain behind my ear (my head/scalp) and my earflap has become sore. It sounds absolutely nuts! I also have had a few bouts of the shooting pain in the corner of my eye before the onset of the constant pain. My cheek always feels weird now.
Avatar n tn inflammation of subcutaneous tissue of scalp due to some infection or neuralgia which is nerve related issue. Nerve irritation due to vertebral disease, migraine etc does lead to scalp pain. Try mild pain killers along with heat application on scalp.
Avatar f tn Hello, In your case, I think that it can be trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is very painful swelling (inflammation) of the nerve (trigeminal nerve) that delivers feeling to the face and "surface" of the eye. Trigeminal neuralgia causes severe, short-lasting (only a few seconds) facial pain on the side of the affected nerve even by slight touch. Mostly affects elderly females. May be caused in multiple sclerosis also.
