Avatar f tn Marilee has discussed migraine very well. Tension-type headaches usually present with dull, non-throbbing pain, associated with tightness of scalp or neck. The degree of severity remains constant and usually attributed to emotional stress. On the other hand, this can also be caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help provide relief.
1819252 tn?1317092002 Hi everyone. I am 13 weeks into treatment and I have a very sore, dry scalp. My hair is also falling out quite a bit now. I was wondering if any of you have found a product to help the scalp. I have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, but it doesn't seem to help at all.
Avatar f tn These sores can be caused by viral, bacterial or fungal infections. Acne and clogged hair shafts can cause scalp sores, too. Cysts on the scalp are another cause of scalp sores. In folliculitis there is inflammation of one or several hair follicles on the skin causing red, bumpy and pimple-like lumps.Tinea capitis causes round, red, scaly bumps on the scalp's surface.
Avatar f tn i also suffer from i think tension headaches, like a pressure type feeling at the back of my head, not so much sore but more annoying.
Avatar n tn Just twice now, I have woke up with the right side of my scalp asleep. The same feeling you have when your hand falls asleep and it is waking up. It is not painful though. Just a slight tingling and feeling of numbness. It has only happened when I slept on that same side. I have been trying different pillows for the best neck position. I do not remember if it was the "same" pillow both times. I always sleep on my right side and that is the side of my scalp it happened.
Avatar n tn I am always asleep for this procedure and in the past this has helped my pain issues. I am still a little sore but this is normal for this procedure. The last time I had this procedure was almost over 1 year ago. In the past I have had to have this procedure a couple of times a year but the last one took and I experienced relief. Hope this one does the same for me but remember, the nerve does grow back.
Avatar n tn You need to inform your doctor immediately if you have been taking this drug for a while and have suggestive signs of Vitamin B12 deficiency like sore tongue, excessive weakness, tingling and numbness in the extremities due to decreased gastrointestinal absorption. This would require an assessment of the vitamin serum levels and replenishing the same orally or parenterally. The drug may need to be stopped temporarily and an alternative given. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I'm a 27 y/o female who is having sharp knifing pains in my ear, shooting out to the top-left side of my scalp. Its quite debilitating. I don't have any sinus issues. I'm wondering why the otc migraine meds aren't working. I'm in tears because I'm not sure what is going on. The pain either starts in the ear and shoots up to the top-left side of my scalp, resonating deep like a stabbing or it just starts on the scalp.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info! I have tried some of the shampoos with salicylic acid or coal tar - all it did was make my scalp worse- sort of firery sore and super itchy. that's why I think its dry scalp and not dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis - the symptoms just don't fit. my hair and scalp are dry, not greasy - even if i go 3 days between shampoos my hair is not greasy. the flakes are small and white and not oily.
Avatar f tn Im almost 8 weeks and just last night my scalp began to feel sore in some places. Anybody else experience this??

Avatar f tn The hair loss happened to me in cycles, about a two month process with sore scalp, then a few weeks of major hair loss, then it would stop for a while, then the whole thing would begin again. For dy mouth I used a product called Oasis, its a mouth spray that helps a lot. You can get it over the counter. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the medhelp neurology forum. Thanks for writing in. Temoral areritis is inflammation and damage to arteries supplying the head area. It affects temporal arteries as they branch off from the carotid artery in the neck. Due to faulty immune response the symptoms may be excessive sweating, muscle pains, jaw pains with chewing, vision disturbances like double, blurred or reduced. There is scalp sensitivity, tenderness on touching skin and weight loss.
Avatar m tn m having the same symptoms - ear ache, sore throat, sore scalp. My symptoms have all appeared pretty rapidly. I noticed my ear started hurting yesterday afternoon. Today, I noticed my throat hurt and my scalp has become increasingly sensitive to touch. Did you see a doctor? Did you take anything or do anything to relieve your symptoms? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Ive always had a tender scalp on and off but about 2 years ago I started noticing my hair was thinning where my scalp was sore primarily. Its been thinning at the top and around the temples. The thinning progressed rather quickly ive had to xut my hair shorter to make it blend. Prior to the thinning my hair would shed these grey flakes like dandruff especially if I was sweating or just finished playing sports.
1009876 tn?1326490077 The sore spots are only on my scalp, not my face. I have been putting antibiotic cream (clindasol) on the spots. It seems to make the soreness subside, but they're not going away. So far, Head and shoulders doesn't help. I'm going to change my shampoo to see if that helps.
Avatar f tn I have constant dry scalp. It does not flake like Dandruff. I get sore spots all over especiallly along hair line. I had it bad a few years ago, then it got better. It just never cleared up. It hurts to even brush my hair. It has made my hair so dry that I cannot even style it anymore. It feels good after first washing it, but then it starts all over again. It itches too.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have scalp pain due to Fibromyalgia. It comes and goes and only bothers me when I brush my hair or touch it.
Avatar m tn 1. I had a head injury in 1975, requiring several stitches, open scalp wound, blunt force trauma. When, I started having seizure-like symptoms 6 months later, the military medical department claimed there was no corlation between head injuries and Epilepsy. Why did they not know back during the late 70's about head injury causing Epilepsy in most people? 2. After getting my second head injury 1977 on the same spot on top of my head right side.
Avatar m tn Its feels like you had a pony tail for so long and you let go, you have this sore and tender feelings of your head/scalp but much more in pain. also, if I lay down it feels like the terderness/soreness is spreading down to my neck, so having a difficulties sleeping at night time. I just did MRI on c-spine on my neck and waiting for the doctor's call.
Avatar f tn During the past few weeks I have had a very sore area on my scalp almost constantly. It is a relatively small area, maybe one to two inches in diameter. I used to have really long hair and when I would wear it in a bun or ponytail all day, my head would get extremely sore. The soreness I am experiencing now is very similar, but my hair is very short...no ponytails anymore. Every morning I wake up with a severe headache as well. Not a migraine, but it's pretty bad.
