Sneezing after anesthesia

Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing after anesthesia

sneeze

He was with a co-worker in the factories office area and sneezed. Right after her sneezed, he fell over and was unable to be saved. Could the sneeze have been the fatal action? Curious as to if the sneeze had not occured, would it just have prolonged his chest pain and the inevitable were to happen anyways. was just wondering if the 'sneeze" expedited things? One more question thats bothering my mother. When he passed, he wet his pants.
I told my doctor my concerns and he said it was all in my head and it was not addicting and after 2 years of me trying to explain to him what I was finding on the internet and explaining my symptoms; he simply told me he was not going to prescribe it for me anymore as I must be having an allergic reaction!
she seems ok at times but others she is sneezing alot. she doesnt want to eat at times and a day after her sergery she wet herself. her eyes are not swelling so im not sure if it is kennel cough or URI. i cant tell if she has a fever or is warm because of the blanket she is just laying on. she doesnt feel hot most of the time. Any comments would be helpful.
I had the same sentiments as brokenbytears a few days after the procedure. The third and fourth days after the surgery were pretty rough. The I had a Lortab prescription for the pain that did the trick for me. The sore throat from the breathing tube put me on a diet of Slim Fast and room temperature chicken broth. Ask your doc for a Rx of "Magic Mouthwash." You gargle and swallow a few table spoons of this stuff and your throat will feel remarkably better.
Have seen my urologist who performed the op and he was not very concerned about it as the ultrasound scan (done after 2 months) was clear. Have read in other forums that the swelling takes some time to go away ! The bulge is prominent when I am standing up and seems to flatten out abit when I am sitted or lying down. Wonder whether you experience the same ? Sorry if I have not answered your query. God Bless and take care.
I finally, after a good 1/2 hr of continued pain, got up and took a couple of pain meds - and still suffered all night. I woke up this a.m. and still was hurting so I took one more pill and now I am so groggy. Hubby got up with the kids thank goodness and I slept in a bit. I am trying to get up and going but I cannot tell you how awful that was. On a happy note. Today is our wedding anniversary, 17 yrs of wedded bliss and total utter crazies.

I had surgery in 07/2003 after a accident at work. I had my surgery done at Hackensack memorial in hackensack, nj., one of the best hospital and doctors i have ever had. I had a long time before i could get into therapy, afyer 4 long months in a hard collar. I never lost the pain in the neck and shooting pain in right side neck and radiating down my arm into hand and fingers tingling. fusion at c5-c6-c7.
just had 1vf after 4 years of trying to get pg and a loss of one ovary and tube. It has been 5 days since the transfer and I just started cramping. But after BM i feel better. Is it a good sign or bad sign. I am so worried. i am 32 and we transfered 2 babies.. my blood work is to be on the 28th but how soon before then can I do a Preg.
Was told to have no sex light exercise(walking)could go back to normal activities-that blood flow after 24 hrs is healthier to the uterus than being in bed 48hrs. Bowel movements and sneezing/coughing will have no effect on implantation. Is this true should I had been on bed rest longer???? Was told pregnancy test will be done 14 days after transfer.
Hi, Amy I am getting ready to start a third ivf transfer, this time I am doing a FET maybe you can answer some of my questions. Did you do birth control and lupron? Did you bleed while on Lupron? I bleed for two weeks I started to bleed (lightly) the day before I started my Lupron shots. Today I went to the RE for an ultrasound and blood work. They said everything was fine and he lowered my lupron from 10 to 5. I now am taking estrace (pill) and I go back on Wed. Is this familiar to you?
I wasnt feeling good this morning very sore throat and just sneezing alot. I met with the anesthesiologist and he asked me how I felt. I told him fine aside from this sore throat and sneezing and he laughed an said that's quiet serious really... He told me they cant operate on me because the side affects of the anesthesia was difficulties with breathing after the operation.
I have 8 days to my 1st beta test after my ET on Aug 12. Out of 11 mature eggs only 4 fert after icsi and only 1 viable embryo. I too had OHSS after egg retrieval and am really hoping that this works. So far no signs of period coming so keeping fingers crossed. Does anyone know how many days after ET a period will come if it didn't work?
now am scared because I see that a lot of women have not been able to conceive after the mirena IUD removal... pls help!!! I have had it for 18 months and after all the crazy stories, I am thinking of having it removed :(.
I started feeling sick every morning (gagging but not vomiting) starting at about 10 days after the procedure. I was confirmed pregnant on day 14 after the procedure by blood test. I had the symptoms before I was confirmed positive and I also thought they were in my head, but there could be more to it. I had a failed IUI a few months before and I did not have any symptoms at all. Good luck!
SHE HAS SUFFERED FROM A CHRONIC NASAL CONDITION FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW, HER SYMPTOMS ARE AS FOLLOWS; SNEEZING WITH A WHITE ,BUT WHEN INFECTED YELLOW DISCHARGE, FOLLOWED BY GAGGING AND RETCHING TRYING TO COUGH UP SOMERTHING. MY VET HAS HAD HER ON ANTIROBE 75MG AND BAYTRIL 68.5 MY VARIOUS TIMES. WHEN ON THE ANTIBIOTICS SHE DOES MUCH BETTER, BUT ABOUT 2 DAYS AFTER THEY ARE STOPPED THE SYMPTOMS RETURN.
Cat has multiple symptoms: 1) sneezing of long time duration, occurs in fits, very sporadic; can go a several days with no attacks, sneezing seems to follow eating also. 2) only about 4 teeth left in his mouth, no obvious ulcers or tumors inside mouth or tongue. 1 fang in front, 3 molars in back, inflammed gums, smelly breath. Broken tooth on side OPPOSITE nasal swelling. 3) inflammed, swollen, red nostril, occasionally opens and bleeds after he paws it.
When she started she had a pink drainage coming from her right eye and right nostril. Her eye has gotten better and her nose has slightly improved. She is still sneezing and looks terrible but she is eating on her own. This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth. The vet is new to us as we have move two hours away from our regular vet.
Have an 8 year old cat. Has had sneezing spells on and off for several years. Now has ONE nostril swollen -other is normal, and raw/red with some pus and small 1mm sore which opens periodically-this is more recent, over last few months. Continual nasal discharge serous, sneeze is serous Shaking his head peridodically. Appetite is suppressed. When stressed a few months ago, he developed mild conjunctivitis which cleared up on saline irrigation.
I just had that surgery two weeks ago Tuesday, it was a piece of cake, all except the throwing up from the anesthesia. A day after I had it, I went home, slept some, By Thursday, I was totally off pain meds (I did not ever take hard stuff - Percocet made me throw up, too, and it really did not hurt that bad.) A couple tylenol every once in a while was all I needed (I did take one Vicodan one night to sleep through my husband's snoring!).
he said he wouldn't really be surprised if it had because of how swollen they were...eek! Also, I had a horrible reaction to the anesthesia. As soon as I woke up from the surgery I started vomiting. I proceeded to vomit for the next 16 hours. I wasn't able to get a room to myself because the hospital was completely full. There were 20 of us waiting for a room and we were all whisked away to Same Day Admitting until a room became available.
Oh she got this shortly after the last time she was kenneled, but the vet said it was not kenne cough. Any suggestions?
It also acts as an antihistamine that reduces the natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing and runny nose, or hives on the skin. Hydroxyzine is used as a sedative to treat anxiety and tension. It is also used together with other medications given for anesthesia. Hydroxyzine may also be used to control nausea and vomiting. Hydroxyzine is also used to treat allergic skin reactions such as hives or contact dermatitis.
I had a partial a year ago .. my other side decided not to function after the surgery so I'm on Synthroid .. the med adjustment was worse than the actual surgery which never needed any at-home pain meds more than Tylenol. It is not like other surgeries which burn and sting in pain afterwards ... it is more like a golf ball and tight sensation and sore throat from the tube (not the procedure believeit or not) and soft foods for 48hrs. Cheryl (partial 1/9 TSH 1.
I also sleep on my side, and found after my laparotomy that clutching a small hard pillow to my stomach made it possible to lie in my accustomed position. Also press the pillow to your stomach if you need to cough. I believe that once you've had a BM, even if induced by suppository, they know your bowel is moving normally and you will most likely have no further problems. I found that Metamucil helped me get regular again once I was home after my laparotomy. Keep getting stronger!
just what you need now .. Oh, sneezing is a killer, coughing you will have to do after the surgery anyway bcz of the tube they use.
He still thinks it could be cystitis or urethral syndrome but has not ruled out that it's not just neurological after all. I will know if the dilatation thing has helped in a week after the soreness goes from the procedure, apparently it makes it worse for a day or two and then it come right. I feel bright, happy and not too sore.
I was a total wreck before the surgery (I was more freaked out by anesthesia than anything else), and I just have to say that anesthesia is a truly wonderful thing. I was walking around that afternoon and talking and everything. The worst part for me, and many others here, is the sore throat from the breathing tube they insert. That was hideous! The incision did not hurt much at all - the muscles were very sore (coughing, laughing, yawning, sneezing - painful!).
I've had 2 sections and found them really good just a little sore after the 2nd one as midwife said it takes a little longer to heal once you have had one before but you havent had one before so you will be great its a very quick procedure and the bonus is no labor pains the needle in the back only felt like getting an injection both times for me. Good luck and congrats on twins you will be busy.
During the surgery, the anesthesia to numb the bone was not working. About 9 hrs. after the surgery, they found that the anesthesia dept. put the machine bottom on wrong and did not deliver medicine like it was supposed to. He suffered traumatic shock to the bone. Ever since then, he has had terrible pain from this surgery. They gave him 4mg morphine by pump, every 6 minutes, toradol shots, oxycodone, and various other pain killers to try to stop the pain.
