Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel pharmacology

seroquel

Avatar f tn I have been experiencing sort of a non-stop full blown panic attack for about 2 weeks. Dr. put me on Lamicatal and Seroquel. The Seroquel knocked me out the first night, but now I need lots more to fall asleep. For the life of me I cannot figure out what started this for me, I mean it is really bad.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I saw my psychiatrist yesterday and she keeps pushing Seroquel. I have tried Seroquel and Seroquel XR three times and had the same adverse reaction to it each time. It makes me hypermanic and gives me a bad case of akathisia. All three times, it was terrible; I just couldn't calm down. But, she just keeps after it, along with the other anti-psychotics, all with the high potential for agitation and akathisia... I mean, BUSPAR, agitated the heck out of me, 5mgs of CELEXA agitated me....
Avatar n tn I can find nothing in my pharmacology books about ceriquil, so I'm not going to be of much help with your question. (Do you know of another name it goes by?) Hopefully someone else knows about this med and will post to you soon. The only two things I can think of for you to do would be to discuss this with your doctor or talk to your local pharmacist. If the Klonopin was working for you, why are you being switched to another med?
Avatar m tn Pills/medicines: Seroquel (to improve sleep and treat anxiety) , Lamictal (to avoid abnormal the electrical discharges within the brain) Alternative therapies: (must be combined with the medicines): Acupuncture (to improve blood circulation and rebalance the energy), Osteopath (to unlock blood circulation especially at the abdomen and spine levels) Anger Management (breath exercises as in yoga just google them, sport like boxing) Neuronal programming.
Avatar f tn Abilify and Geodon are pretty different in terms of pharmacology. Abilify is in a category of its own as a partial dopamine (D2) antagonist. That means that in parts of the brain where the level of dopamine is low it boosts activity and in parts of the brain where the level is high (for instance, where mania and psychosis may be activated) it lowers activity.
Avatar f tn However, I did read an article published by the maker of Seroquel acknowledging withdrawal symptoms. If word comes out that Seroquel is physically addicting and causes horrible withdrawals, people probably wouldn't be eager to take it and sales of the drug could drop. Seroquel is huge right now, this website is covered in ads for Seroquel. As far as the insomnia, I took Seroquel before bed because of how sedating it was for me. After 2.
Avatar m tn i am currently on short term leave from work due to GAD and forms of panic disorder. My main problem was insomnia sleep maintenance. Tried Ambien, Ambien CR and Seroquel. to no avail. saw a sleep specialist and he put me on both seroquel to be taken with Lunesta. it all went downhill from there. to make a long story short, this is when i started having panic attacks.
Avatar m tn I just got off Seroquel which I was taking to help with OCD and depression, but also for insomnia. I got off of it because I experience extrapyramidal symptoms which I believe shows I may be more at risk for developing TD though my Dr has told me it is very rare to get TD on the atypical antipsychotics. Another Dr has now put me on Trazadone for sleep, 100 mg.
Avatar f tn I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.
Avatar f tn Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?
Avatar m tn Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
518117 tn?1429276273 I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.
Avatar f tn I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.
Avatar n tn Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.
563541 tn?1257877567 My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...
Avatar m tn If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn My doctor has recommended Seroquel for my insomnia. Since i am a parkinsons patient, I was wondering if this ,might make my parkinsons worse?
736475 tn?1281259327 the doctor put my husband on seroquel for anxiety. i was on them last year from my psychiatrist for sleep. of course i can't gauge how they worked because i was just adding them to the stew as it were. his are extended release. mine were not. the doctor gave him samples to last 1 month. he seems to be doing well on them, but i know my husband. these are going to be expensive even with insurance.
1168718 tn?1464983535 hi everyone, was just wondering if you guys have had any trouble with Seroquel? I am being put on it for sleep, and I have read up on it, and the side effects are kinda scarey. Does anyone have any input? My Dr. is putting me on a very tiny dose to start, as I reacted to Nortriptyline and have been on nothing for sleep for 3 days now. Can anyone give me some help please??
