Common Questions and Answers about Seizure with fever

seizure

Avatar n tn The next fever was 8 weeks later, very mild and manageable with Motrin and no seizure. Then nothing for 3 months. Then a mild fever, but after a visit with the chiropractor, the fever ended after 30 hours. And now we have been fever and seizure free for 5 months! My son is himself again. He only goes to see the chiropractor once a month just to check up and they never adjust him unless there is a need. He loves to visit "Dr. Dave" and we have been so encouraged!
Avatar f tn My daughter just turned two last week. A couple days ago she was fine them I took her to To the store and all of a sudden she started to have a seizure out of no where. Didn't have a fever or anything so they took her on the ambulance she was not hot or anything. They after getting a iv they took a rectal temp and had a 104 temp. So they have her medicine and sent her home and said all of her test came back fine.
Avatar n tn Alot will depend on whether or not your son had a fever at the time of the seizure, as high temperatures will also cause vomiting and seizures. my daugher never vomited with her seizures. so theres a chance your sons was more a febril convulsion caused by the fever and could be just a once off thing.
1549468 tn?1345468736 Hi everyone...I have one more question...how do we deal with the stigma associated with epilepsy and seizures? I had to go to the ER last night because I had a series of "absence seizures". The attending physician asked me "so...what's going on at home, I've never seen this kind of seizure before." Then he asked me if I needed an Ativan. He told the nurse to bring it, after I had another seizure.
Avatar m tn Our youngest daughter, who will be 8 in March, had a seizure induced by a fever in early November. The seizure lasted about a minute or less and she was convulsing and lost consciousness. I was shocked and scared because she had not had a febrile seizure since shortly before her third birthday. The only other seizure she had was at 15 months, and again, was a febrile seizure.
20292254 tn?1494362008 s always having this kind of seizure after her fever went away. She seizes without a fever. After that, we went to her pediatrician and she referred me to a pediatric neurologist. We're having an appointment at Friday, 8 am. I hope that everything's fine and she just seized because of fever. November 1, 2016, my child had her first seizure. Doctor said to tilt her head and body during the seizure and fan her. What should I do if she is having a seizure again?
Avatar n tn Hi a Pitbull pup 9 months old we saved last weekend, who was covered in ticks, possibly with tick fever, was put on Doxydog, yesterday he started getting seizures, no matter what medication, no matter what the vet did, it got worse and worse, this morning 4 times in half an hour, we just put him out of his misery.
1573842 tn?1295908570 Recurrent or chronic fever is seen in tuberculosis, SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, and other auto immune disorders, UTI, drug fever, sinusitis, glandular fever, otitis media, IBS, endocarditis, parasitic infestations, fungal infections, lymphomas and other cancers etc. It can even be diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Discuss with your son’s pediatrician. Take care!
Avatar f tn In children fever can trigger a nonepileptic seizure. Before an age of 2 yrs. high fevers or temporary metabolic abnormalities, such as abnormal blood levels of sugar (glucose), calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6, or sodium, can trigger seizures. Seizures do not occur once the fever or abnormality resolves. If the EEG was done during a seizure it would show an increased electrical activity in brain . You can wait till the neurologist consultation.
Avatar n tn My 11 year old son suffered a local seizure in left leg followed by a general seizure in 3 hrs. he was suffering frm high fever and was on malaria drug along with doxycycline. his reports like MRI, veinography, CFS, EEG AND OTHER BLOOD TESTS R NORMAL.what could be the reason of seizure? will it repeat. what r the precautions to be taken.
Avatar m tn They did a variety of tests blood (normal) urine (normal) TAC (normal) but he had a throat infection. So we left with a febrile seizure diagnosis, and antiibiotics. We took an EEG which wasnt to clear acording to our doctor .
Avatar n tn his Dr thinks something might be wrong with his immune system and thinks the seizure, hives, fever and pneumonia are all related. what immune dissorders could cause this?
Avatar n tn I have a 13 month old son that is now on his fourth fever (all have lasted a week before he was put on medicine), the doctors have put him on a different type of antibiotic each time. The first two times they said he had an ear infection, the last two times no one could give me a reason. He had a "fever seizure" with his last one. There seems to be a pattern, they put him on antibiotics, the fever goes away, the antibiotics stop, within two weeks the fever returns.
Avatar f tn If she has more than two seizures in 24 hours with fever she should be evaluated by a neurologist. That makes its a complex seizure vs a simple one.
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar n tn 4 hrs later no fever so no Tylenol (what I was told to do when I questioned doing the Tylenol / Motrin regime every 3-4 hrs for 24 hrs). Within an hour after that she spiked a fever and had a seizure. This one was the longest but still relatively short at about 20 seconds. Called the dr and ran her there immediately. Did blood work and urinalysis and said she had a viral infection and febrile seizure (temp was still 103 after being cooled down).
Avatar f tn could the child have also had a fever at all if so it could have been caused by the fever which would be classed as a febrile convulsion
Avatar f tn 30 pm he was sitting with his dad watching cartoons, all of a sudden he started breathing funny i called his name and he didnt respond i went to pick him.up and his whole body went stiff and started seizing.i freaked out grabbed him my fiance was freakin out so i told him to grab the keys we were going to the hospital, and we ran outside by the time we got outside he.was having major troubles breathing and his lips were turning blue, i was so scared i told my fiance to call 911 he did.
Avatar n tn Persistent fever along with stress and anxiety might had aggravated or worsened her condition which might had lead to this condition. Wait for the reports and let her fever subside. Tell the details to the same doctor. If you are very much disturbed by her present condition then taking a neurologist's opinion is not a problem.
Avatar n tn A low activity EEG means a dormant seizure activity going on in the brain. The brain does not have a seizure, but is prone to seizure if favorable conditions are present, like high fever, sleep deprivation, etc. It will be a good idea to consider medicines, after the MRI.
Avatar n tn The Pheno med is really strong, and if diagnosis is Lyme than you get anibiotic, right? Why the Pheno, maybe seizure came from high fever??? Ask a lot of questions when talking w/vets.... I am very sorry for this most unfortunate situation w/your little friend, and wish you and yours a speedy recovery, and hope you get more answers...
Avatar f tn (Docs used forcets when I was born and the soft spot never healed) Anyhow, I was tried on several anti-seizure meds. pheno with dilantin was one of them. The interns told Mom they had to slow my system down. Mom told them about some situations that occurred and they put me on regular dilantin, tegretol and 10mg of valium. Sure I still slept alot, but I knew when I was going to sleep. Like the Doctor said you have the weigh the good with the bad.
Avatar f tn My son is born at 32 weeks had subependymal hemorrhage diagnosed at 4weeks, in NICU for 4 weeks, did well after and never had seizure in the past. Recently had high grade fever 39.8C for 48h, given regular Tylenol which reduces the fever. Last fever was at 5pm and have not recurred since. There’s no specific source for the fever, such as cough, rhinorrhea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Ears look normal.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 14 months and has been running a fever every evening for over a month. She has no other sign just the fever. It was starting around 1pm or later and would go away till with 1 or two doses of medicine until the next night. Now it is more constant all day since yesterday and running from 101 to 104. She has been to the doctor repeatedly and has had multiple test including for cat scratch and mono and many others but everything is coming back neg.
Avatar n tn except for one episode with fever. but now recently when we satrted on stimulant - mph (inspirol) 2 times a day with 5mg each dose he developed a seizure one evening after the dose. so now we have stopped the evening dose and giving only the morning one. with which he is manageble for 3 hrs only. we have already treid with nonstimulant atemoxetine 5mg which dint control his hyperactivity and instead incresed his agression noticeably.
