Ranitidine for nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine for nausea

zantac

Over a year ago i was given ranitidine for the treatment of GERD. I took my first dose and i started to feel nausea so i went to bed, during the night i started vomiting and not like any vomit i had ever experienced before. i thought nothing of it, until my heart began to race through out the night. the next morning i thought i might be allergic to one of my medication as i was prescribed 2 medication all at once.
Thank you so much for your response. I think I'm nauseous because of meds. that I am taking for asthma/inflammation - 2 inhalers, Theophylline, Singulair & MS meds. I almost constantly feel a very mild nausea, but sometimes it's not so mild. It's very frustrating and many times prevents me from eating the healthy foods I try to eat. I end up eating junk food, because these foods are what I feel I can tolerate & almost taste good (doughy type foods like pretzels, pizza).
I had the nausea for a long time as well. As a matter of fact I"m still taking ranitidine to calm my stomach. Throwing up is not normal after 3 weeks of withdrawl. It's probably the seafood you ate but if it continues for the next day or two i would see a doctor.
My 5 year old son and I have been sick for about 2 weeks now with the same thing, nausea and stomach cramping all the time. The nausea gets so bad that I can not seem to function unless I take the phenergan and some times that does not even work. I was treated for HPylori in 1998 and took all the antibiotics what should I do now?
I've been having chronic nausea for the last 3 years. The symptoms come and go in no predictable manner. For the first six months or so I had constipation along with the nausea. I went to my doctor and she thought maybe the constipation was causing it and prescribed Reglan to combat it. I seemed to feel a bit better when I took the Reglan but it made me so tired that I couldn't function at work and when I was home I slept almost constantly.
A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
i've been suffering from anxiety disorder and acid reflux, i've been taking pariet for 2 months but it didnt work,i'm now nexium40 mg and ranitidine 300mg everyday, hours after meal i feel really dizzy and weak(disoriented) then i feel nauseos then vommit then palpitate i've done thyroid test result is negative, even endoscopy, my stomach is clean, what am i feeling?what is the cause?
When I went to my apt on 7th of January, I had blood work done, that came back ok. and was perscribed ranitidine for what the doc thought was to much acid in my stomach. I took that for about a week until I stated having really bad anxiety and panic attacks which really scared me. ( shortness of breath, trouble breathing, thoughts that I was gonna die and initially thought it was from the meds) so I stopped taking them.
For over a month now I have been suffering from stomach pain, nausea, a bit of gas and bloating, and food tasting really weird/gross. I've been taking prescribed antacids for it and lots of generic tums. A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw.
For tha past few months, I become slightly nauseas at around 2 -3 pm. It usually lasts about 30 min to an hour. Not Strong enough to make me vomit, just very uncomfortable. I am not pregnant. What could this be from?

Both the Ranitidine and Prilosec are acid reducers. So if acid reflux is causing your problems, the Prilosec should work as well if not better. You may want to consider an upper endoscopy to more comprehensively evaluate the upper GI system since an upper GI cannot evaluate if there is any inflammation. I would also suggest testing for H Pylori - a bacteria associated with inflammation and ulcers.
I was ill, violently vomiting, about 3 months ago, and recently this feeling of gagging and nausea has occured. I am 14, healthy etc and have been to the doctor who prescribed ranitidine as he thought it was stomach acid, which has stopped the nausea but the feeling in my throat is still carrying on. He sent me for an ultrasound to check there is nothing in my stomach, but it came back clear, as did blood tests.
I don't want to jump to the extreme. This nausea isn't that bad, not like I think I'm going to throw up, just a mild, annoying nausea. When I had that blockage before I was doubled over in pain and nausea, so I don't think (or hope!) it's that. But why do I feel like this? I asked the doctor yesterday but he thinks it might be left over from a stomach bug. But I had a 24 hour stomach bug 2 weeks ago that went through my family.
Hi Have u found solution to your problem yet or figured it out yet Sounds like I have a very similar condition I have constant nausea & stomach ache for about a week ranging in intensity happening at the same time every month which is straight after my period I'm on no medications just the pill which I stopped for a while & made no difference I have had this for about 3-4 years now I've had so many tests with no answers (blood tests, ultrasounds, gall bladder test, camera down into my st
I should also add that it is best to be wary of homeopathic remedies from countries that do not have a good reputation for extensive health testing of their products. If you need an anti-nausea medication for your dog, please refer to those mentioned in prior posts, which are approved by the FDA and veterinary science.
Took 75 mg of Ranitidine in the morning before breakfast around 8am. By 8.30am, my stomach acid has come back. However, due to work and meetings, i did not get to eat breakfast till 9.30am. By this time, I did not have much appetite to eat. However, there was no heartburn, no nausea, though I felt like I was on the verge of getting the heartburn and nausea. At 11am my apetite came back and I ate the rest of my breakfast (which was only a bowl of scrambled eggs). Everything was ok. At 12.
I often wake in the morning feeling terrible nausea which is with me for most of the day on and off, and some days feel fine until about 3 hours after my lunch and the bloating and belching begins as if my food hasn't digested properly along with the nausea. It feels like I am about to vomit my lunch, but it is 3 hours since I have eaten. Again the Metoclopramide is the only medicine that helps me feel better.
I'm currently taking OTC Omeprazole, Metformin, HCTZ, Lisinopril and Wellbutrin and Phenergan for nausea (which doesn't help).
Took 20 mg of Omeprazole (Prilosec) in the morning before breakfast. But then I skipped breakfast (no time). felt nauseous and heartburn 2-3 hours after lunch. The severity of the nausea was pretty severe. I suspect the severity is contributed by the spicy food I had for lunch. The nausea & heartburn came back about an hour after dinner. The Nausea was pretty severe...I suspect this is at least partially attributed by the food I ate for dinner (Fried chicken that was a few days old).
Well, I just got back from my appointment. And it was a Gastrointestinal Infection as the Doc put it...I think he mentioned Gastroenteritis. He put me on an antibiotic called Cipro 500mg, told me to just try liquids for 24hrs, then use the "BRAT" diet as the nausea goes away. And I should start feeling better within 3 days and then can return to work/activities, but will be taking the med's for 7 days. Thanks for the suggestions and comments!
I have been suffering for almost two years with constant nausea. I have had several tests including blood, urine, ultrasound (abdomen) MRI scan (brain) and a H.Pylori breathe test all of which came back with normal results. I was diagnosed with GERD and given omeprazole which never really helped worked and now im trying ranitidine instead.
May nausea started Dec 09. The nausea is constant, with a lot of burping or belching. I had a colonoscopy Nov 08 with 2 polyps removed. First my GP put me on nexium, had several blood tests(normal), an ultrasound (normal), barium swallow (normal),C/T (choelithiasis and moderate enlargement of the gall bladder) hida scan (55%), stomach scope (normal although the GI thought I needed a psychological examination).
I was put on Aciphex for 3 months but it did not help. I was later put on Ranitidine for 3 months (300 mg-2x/day) and it helped a lot, leading to many symptomless days. After Ranitidine, I was told to take Zantac (75 mg) whenever symptoms re-occur. My GI doctor (whom I respect and like tremendously) says he believes this is stress-induced, however I stronly feel and believe that there is more to this than just stress. The symptoms are too real and they are too disruptive to normal life.
My husband has been sick for the past two years, tons of tests, medicines etc. Nausea, loss of appetite, back pain, etc. were the last symptoms that he has yet to resolve. He had a HIDA scan in June 2008 and Dr. said it was "normal", however, he recently asked for another one just grasping at straws hoping it would show something and sure enough, it came back at 25%. Personally I think this has been his problem for well over a year and everyone has been telling him it is anxiety....
In between times I would sick, I tried taking Zantac, some times it would help sometimes not. Nausea would only be for the first few hours in the morning and I'd be great for the rest of the day. I also only experienced it a few days at a time. I was still only seeing the walkin clinic doctor who seemed to be very angry that I was still coming back and he said there was nothing more he could do for me. He booked me to get a scope down my throat for March 2013.
Thinking that it was acid reflux, the GI prescribed Nexium (40 mg twice a day) because of my family history with acid reflux and GERD (gastroesophagael reflux disease). She scheduled an appointment for me to go back to check on things for 6 weeks later. When I went back, the medication didn't do a single thing. I got nausea and stomach pains whenever I ate. The pains were constant, but the nausea comes and goes.
Anyway, I'm taking it just once in the morning, and the symptom has been totally relieved! The nausea has all but left me and I've not taken anything for it for about five days now. Had a bit this morning, but it didn't last. I'm so thankful for that abatement as well. A strange re-occurrence of pain so similar to a GB attack happened a couple of times within three days after the surgery.
