Avatar n tn Well this can happen with ocd, but I think it happens with a few other disorders like anxiety too. It usually takes more than one symptom to diagnose ocd, so I'd get a second opinion. Also when you say "therapist" do you mean a psychologist, a behavioral therapist, or a psychiatrist. Only dr like a psychiatrist or pcp can make a diagnosis, so if it's someone who can't prescribe medication, I'd find a new therapist.

449440 tn?1206887304 The other aspect I was talking about was regarding any co-existing conditions. Quite often, obsessive thought and/or compulsive behaviors are associated with the tics. In such cases, Clomipramine is a god alternative. It helps the obsessive part of the symptoms. I don't say Tics are obsessions, but having obsessive compulsive traits makes it difficult to treat the tics with usual medication. Do you have any of these? I hope I could throw some light.
