Avatar f tn Sometimes doctors will only prescribe the beta blocker (propranolol) or the xanax or lorazepam for just before the performance or public speaking. My guess is that you do so much of it that he feels that you would be better off with it in your system so that if you are in a sticky situation the medication will do the job and help you through. Don't be surprised if at first you feel a little tired or drowsy when you start taking the propranolol, this will go away in a couple of days.
Avatar n tn I switched to the klonipin on friday and already I feel better than with the xanax- I feel much more even throughout the day. Also- I am taking Propranolol, 60 mg- started it 3 weeks ago, and no change yet- however, I don't know how much the ups and downs of the xanax contributed to that. How long does one need to stay on propranolol- until the symptoms subside?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed both propranolol (beta-blocker) and xanax andI have to agree with barfer except on one thing: propranolol does not help with the anxiety itself (the anxious thinking and negative thoughts) - it will only help with the physical symptoms of anxiety. To confirm this, you can google propranolol and find for yourself.
Avatar n tn If you are not taking the propranolol daily you could always try the xanax alone prior to the presentation and see how it affects you, but if you are taking the propranolol daily I think it would be best to space the medication and take them separately. As with any meds you could always contact your physicians office and speak with the nurse and determine what would be the best option for you. Good luck on your presentation and try to remain as a calm as possible!
Avatar f tn Like I will be sitting or at rest and get up and it will just race. Usually I chew on a Xanax or Propranolol and that gets it under control somewhat but it's still scary. Last week it happened I was sitting on the couch and I got up and my heart went from like 80bm to probably around 150bpm in a few seconds. I took a half Xanax and Propranolol and it helped a bit but ever since I've been having these unpredictable symptoms. My question is, is this something new?
Avatar m tn Hi im have been taking Xanax for over a year. I uset to be a methadone attic for 3 years before hand (before that a herion attic). Atfer I got off methadone i was 100% clean for about 7 months but when i found a way to get somthing for my anxiety on a regular basis without doctors (wich never went away after the methadone) i went ahead and did so reguardless of knowing exactly what i was doing i was desperate for my anxiety to go away.
Avatar n tn The doctor game me Propranolol and Xanax. Yes, the first time it happened was when I smoked it, but since then it's happened even though I haven't been smoking. I even tried a different strain, before I quit, that was meant to help with anxiety and relaxation.
Avatar f tn also was given 10 pills of ativan 0.5 since i finished with xanax and am kinda scared that xanax is a little more addicting than ativan. and, want me to take propranolol along with this. my question is, has anyone taken this propranolol (20mg once a day) for anxiety problems? and does anyone think increasing the paxil will help at all for me?
Avatar n tn the dr told me i could start taking propranolol -10 mg 3 times daily instead. i dont know what to do. i dont know how my body will react to a new prescription. i cant afford to take a chance to have a panic attack in front of other people. i dont know which one will work the best for the long hours i will be working.
Avatar m tn I have been clean for over 3 years, but had a panic attack on October 6th and got scared. I took a Xanax from a family member and that began a 3 to 4 week binge taking a daily dose of .5 to 1. mg at night with 2 to 5 beers. The feeling I got from the Xanax triggered my active addiction all over again. I want to stop but want to make sure I do what's best. My last Xanax was Wednesday around 7:00pm. I didn't sleep well at all last night and can deal with that if that's all.
Avatar m tn I recently started seeing a new General Practitioner who came very highly recommended by family and friends. I love her, she's a hippie who went to medical school. As a rule her staff said it would be in my best interest to begin with a physical, to which I agreed. Full labs, CBC, EKG, EEG (unusual for a GP), and blood pressure, etc. She was quite alarmed by my blood pressure, and she detected AFib. I proceeded to inform her that the AFIb is news to me.
994817 tn?1249738278 Hello... I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks. My heart races, I sweat, I can hardly focus,- basically I feel like I'm on speed- ALL the time. I take anti-anxiety medication (xanax) and it really really works. I was on anti-depressants because docs want to over prescribe anti-depressants and under prescribe benzodiazapines (like xanax, valium, etc). Well the anti-depressants didnt do ANYTHING for me.... I took them for about 6 months and was a complete WRECK!
Avatar f tn Prior to being pregnant I would take 5-10mg of Propranolol a few times a month for performance anxiety. I have withheld using it so far but it has really hindered me at work. I have a big presentation I need to give this week in front of 150 people and fear getting on stage without taking it. However, I am also nervous about any potential harm to my baby. Can you clarify if it is safe to use propranolol (5mg) infrequently during the remainder of my pregnancy??? thank you very much!!
Avatar f tn i have been taking 40 mg of paxil for 2 yrs now, i was also taking 0.5 mg xanax but my dr decided to try propranolol 40mg instead because i started to have high blood pressue. i read these two meds arent safe together. has or does anyone take them together?
Avatar f tn When I told him I was suffering from a pulse visible in my eye, he prescribed propranolol (3 10mg doses a day, 8am, 2pm, 8pm) for me. That drug didn't reduce my blood pressure effectively enough so I was placed on Lisinopril (10mg once daily at 8am) just last week. As I attempted to gradually reduce my propranolol dose I experienced tachycardia, so, after consulting an ER doctor, resumed my regular dosage. I am due to see my pediatrician this thursday.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar m tn t work for me--fish oil, magnesium, potassium, exercise, CoX10, Vitamin D, Vitamin B complex, Propranolol, Xanax. The magnesium, potassium, CoX10, & vitamins are all great to take, & I feel healthier, especially now that I exercise 4 days a week for 30 minutes, but none of them lessened my skipped beats. Fish oil actually made me skip more beats on average, & there are studies & articles like this from Harvard linking Omega 3 to a host of other problems (http://www.health.
Avatar n tn Am on 60mg of Propranolol and Lexapro (for the anxiety) with occasional Xanax thrown in for good measure. My concern...everyone else who has these seem to describe them as flips, skips, flops, bloops, etc. Mine feel like a muscle squeeze in the center of my chest. Just one quick squeeze...someetimes soft, sometimes will stop me dead in my tracks checking my pulse to make sure I'm still alive. Does anyone else describe their symptoms the way I do?
Avatar m tn I have no tried tricyclics but I have tried benzodiazepines such as xanax and klonopin as well as beta blockers such as propranolol.
Avatar f tn ve been taking Xanax as needed for awhile which helps the anxiety and also just recently stopped Propranolol and started Metroprolol. I also have obsessive negative thoughts about health problems that probably don't exist. My GP prescribed me 10mg Lexapro to take daily. But I'm scared to take it because I've heard so many horror stories about ssri's. The beta blocker helps my physical anxiety symptoms but the avoidance, lack of motivation, & anxiety are still there.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
