Propranolol dosing for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Propranolol dosing for anxiety

inderal

Does anyone take ilight>propranololilight> ilight>forilight> ilight>anxietyilight> and panic attacks? i've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where i'm in such a state i almost pass out from hypervenitlating. i've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
ihatepvcs, ilight>Propranololilight> can be administered in up to qid ilight>dosingilight> which is about 6 hours apart depending on the reason for administration. Other regimines involve it taken on a daily, as needed, twice and thrice daily basis. i cant really make a recommendation on dosing since i dont know you. Obviously the more frequently you take it the more is in the system prior to repeat dosing. The main side effects people experience with beta blockers is fatigue.
Beta blockers have been prescribed ilight>forilight> ilight>anxietyilight> ilight>forilight> a long time. As someone above mentioned, they are especially effective in social anxiety situations...ie before speaking in front of a large group, etc. in that scenario, a person takes one about 30 min-1 hour before the event. A regular dosing of these types of meds (inderal is one that is commonly Rxed) can also be very useful in combatting anxiety on a daily basis.
im 39 started having ilight>anxietyilight> at 21 then had agraphobia ilight>forilight> 4 years that passed but ive always has ilight>anxietyilight>, i could control this up until last week, i was ill with the flu was sooooo dizzy so now i think im goin to pass out. my symptoms are cloudy vision, dizzyness, shakes very bad, sweaty everything, and just panic panic panic.
my bend would be to use a once a day beta blocker to make ilight>dosingilight> more convenient ilight>forilight> you. Atenolol is cheap and works well. if you don't tolerate atenolol, metoprolol twice a day is worth a shot. if the propranolol is working, i wouldn't change anything. in general i do not use benzodiazepines like xanax. They are habit forming and can lead to other problems.
) Before i had my first one last May, i had heard of people having ilight>anxietyilight> problems (my ex-girlfriends mom took meds ilight>forilight> them) but just scoffed at people actually having to take medications to control their thoughts. What pish-posh i thought to myself. Well, after 1 year of having these #$%^$@ panic attacks, it's not pish-posh anymore.
Labs won't be ilight>forilight> another three weeks when i see the endo ilight>forilight> the first time but i may call the doc before then if this keeps up.
sudden rise in pulse when doing activities. i was on 10mg ilight>Propranololilight> ilight>forilight> a couple years as needed ilight>forilight> ilight>anxietyilight> and rapid pulse symptoms. it helped anxiety but didn't do much even if i doubled the dose to stop the fast pulse. Recently i saw a cardiologist he again said my heart is normal and that basically it's just a symptomatic thing. i'm 32, slim, in good shape, so he started me on 25mg Metroprolol twice a day. i'm noticing a huge positive difference.
if the same doctor prescribed both these medications for you, then you can trust it's safe to take them together.......but you must read the labels! Sometimes "together" doesn't mean "at the same time." Some meds need to be taken with food and some on an empty stomach, some in the morning and some at night. if you have any questions about how to take these meds, call your doctor or pharmacist for the correct dosing schedule.
i have been put on beta blockers ilight>propranololilight> 40 mg three times a day ilight>forilight> benign ventricular ectopic beats and anxiety. im just not sure what times i should take them. how many hours do i need to wait to take another.
this is different than just flat out addiction. as an example...ilight>propranololilight> is a beta blocker used ilight>forilight> angina and blood pressure, etc. taking it daily WiLL cause the body to become dependent on it...and yet you can't get high from it, period. thus, when discontinued, it requires a nice long taper. xanax can be thought of in this respect, but make no mistake, xanax DOES have a very real potential for abuse.
i had been taking a baby dose of Propranolol as needed ilight>forilight> ilight>anxietyilight> 10mg, he put me on Metroprolol 25mg twice a day. i am now taking the Metroprolol. i definitely notice that my heart is far more settled and slower during the day and i can tolerate activities that before would make my heart race. i'm not overweight at all either, i'm 5'11 165lbs and have always been slim. i've always had a fast pulse but in the last couple weeks things like bending over or getting up would make my heart race.
That is the only medication i have been on since last July as nothing else worked for my mood disorder without causing adverse side effects. ilight>Forilight> the most part i do OK except ilight>forilight> these phases where i start missing 2-3 days of work because of my bipolar anxiety in the mornings. i find myself unable to get out of bed and using up all my sick leave and vacation in excuse of missing work.
with my MD (and wow is there a lot of confusing info on the internet about thyroid disease), i was hoping MD was open minded to prescribing Armour. And i didn't even have to ask ilight>forilight> it, she just gave me script ilight>forilight> 30mg of Armour. Also told me to take 5,000 VitD a day and to come back in 6 weeks for a re-check. i was hopeful to think that this might be the reason for why i felt so bad for so long and that maybe i had undiagnosed thyroid issues for many years.
Two months ago i went to a doctor to receive treatment ilight>forilight> ADHD. i am 28 years old and have never been treated for this before, always just scraped by in school and college and "dealt" with it. So anyway, i have my first real "adult" job now and want to be successful, so i decided to seek treatment. The doctor talked to me and gave me the diagnosis of ADHD and prescribed me methylphenidate (generic Ritalin).
i took methadone ilight>forilight> two years and have been ilight>dosingilight> down ilight>forilight> the past year. Went from 130 mg (when i was taking it the right way) to 1/2 mg. i am on day five of no methadone and it *****, but i am so excited about feeling normal again it helps with withdrawal. They say if you taper down slow you won't have withdrawal, i felt bad for a few days every time i went down 5 mgs and when i got down to 15 mg it was hard from there out.
my current meds are Clonazepam 7 mg day (not working anymore and did try to lower my dose without being able to do it and also have interdose ilight>anxietyilight> even if the Clonazepam have a long half life and that i ilight>dosingilight> it to 6 doses a day. i take also a beta blocker call Propranolol 10 mg x 3 a day to control the tachycardia (don't work anymore also...
i'm 23, and experiencing the same problems. They started a few days ago, and i've never really had them before. i think its pretty clear when its something the doctors can't find any evidence for they simply write it off as, "Anxiety," which i find absurd. i have a very calm life, and i take no prescription medications what so ever. i do have the tendency to be anxious at times, but quickly rationalize it to calm down.
i took Savella ilight>forilight> two weeks and had to quit taking it. i felt like i was going to die! my pain got worse (and i thought it was already bad), the top of my head felt like it was going to explode, i broke out in awful sweats, felt spacey and like i was going to pass out, and the WORSE side effect was the nausea. i took it without food and threw up, so i started taking it with food and still threw up. i then decided to take it and lie down for a while.
my wife thinks that i'm making things worse by turning all the clocks in the house (the ones that chime) off in order to avoid knowing the time so i don't panic by learning that i have ONLY a few hours left before i have to get up and get ready ilight>forilight> work. Again, she thinks i am creating a great deal of ilight>anxietyilight> ilight>forilight> myself. Yes, i have a sleep study two years ago. i did not experience the tremor that night.
i am wondering if prescribing topamax ilight>forilight> ddd is common among neurologists? i can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information i have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...also could this drug alter my brain function since i know it is used for bi-polar and seizure disorder...
Now anytime after about 2 drinks a massive pain will run from the (right) side of my neck and up towards my eyebrow, starting slowly and then getting more and more painful. No allergies or TMJ. i take klonopin ilight>forilight> ilight>anxietyilight>. i do sit crouched over at work, and have had some minor back issues, but like Mark said where does the alcohol come in to play then? i've used every method mentioned in this thread with different amounts of success.
