Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec withdrawal

prilosec

Avatar n tn I ran out of Nexium and am trying to get by with Prilosec until I see my gastro doc. It's not working very well. Anyone got any tips? I'm taking lots of Tums, but still burning like crazy. I've been on the Nexium for years and would love to get off of it if there is something less physically addictive.
Avatar m tn I have a brother he is 16 years old and used to smoke marijuana daily, he has now slowed down and barely does it, but he is complaining about a stomach pain that is so severe and says its like close to a gnawing pain. Would anyone know if that is a withdrawal/And or if marijuana has withdrawals? If so can symptoms be listed here and what to do for help?
Avatar n tn can you take imodium and prilosec OTC or zantac to get rid of opiate withdrawals?
Avatar f tn ve been through some pretty stressful things including having serotonin syndrome from a rare drug interaction between lexapro and Prilosec. I thought I was going to die. Since than my anxiety has been 100 and they had me start taking 3 .5 Xanax a day and it wasnt working. So my doctor suggested Klonopin. I took it yesterday all day and than had insomnia all night and don't know if my body is going through withdrawals from no Xanax. I was steady 3 times a day for about three months.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
1131131 tn?1275108488 t be concerned that much about withdrawal symptoms and surely your doctor would have make you taper off slowly but because of you bad reaction it is better to stop now. There are other ADs you can try such as the SNRIs ( Cymbalta, Effexor ) or more GABA specific drugs like Lyrica or Neurotin. You must know one thing tho is that it takes time for the medication to take effect.
Avatar f tn I have become very concerned about the amount of excederine, prilosec, nasal spray, aleve, and other antacid medicines that she takes. She has a history of bleeding ulcers, she smokes about 2 packs of cigarettes a week, high blood pressure, and other ailments of old age. I didn't realize that she was taking so much of this medicine. Especially the excedrine and prilosec. I have not been able to accurately assess how much excedrine she takes because I think she buys it on the sly.
Avatar f tn I recently started taking Zoloft for anxiety, but I felt ill after taking it for five days, so I discontinued it. For the past three days, I have been having terrible withdrawal symptoms. I was just wondering if anyone else has discontinued Zoloft after a few days and if so, how long did it take for the withdrawal symptoms to subside? I was only taking 25 mg.
Avatar f tn Experiencing some slight nausea and general malaise. Is this withdrawal? How long will it last? I have been taking Prilosec for 6 weeks now for a pretty vicious case of Acid Reflux that appears to have been caused by improper supplements.
Avatar m tn ll have to go through it one way or another and there is nothing out there to take to get you through it without the withdrawal symptoms. There are OTC meds you can use like prilosec or imodium to help with the stomach, Multi-vitamins, b-12, etc... and if your stomach is really bad and OTC's don't help have your doc get you some bentyl or hyosiamine.

Avatar m tn I went to a doctor(general physician) and complained of stomach pain(I had anxiety) and said I had cold waves. The doc prescribed me to Prilosec. Never ever I had heard of the term heartburn or experienced it in my life until that point. Not knowing what I was suffering thru, 3rd day into the medicine I suffered from throat burn. Few more days I had sever burning sensation in my back and every google search text for my symptoms lead to the title GERD.
Avatar n tn Besides the cost, is their truly a difference between Nexim and Prilosec. The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past.

Avatar m tn Is there an appropriate way of getting off of Prilosec? I have been taking it for almost two months and starting to think that all the symptoms I am experiencing are from the Prilosec. After all GI test have come back normal and all the test from my regular physician have come back normal, I want to quit Prilosec. The first month I was taking one 20mg pill in the morning and one 20mg at night. Now I am only taking one 20mg pill a day. Do I quit cold turkey?
Avatar f tn Noo ask ur doctor first!!
Avatar f tn You may also have some rebound pain for a while, even after withdrawal. Ibuprofen can help (but you might want to try OTC Prilosec as it can really be hard on your stomach.) Bland foods or light foods that appeal to you. Eat what you can, but really watch your fluids. It's very easy to get dehydrated.
Avatar f tn Anyone with HepC taking 20 mg. of Prilosec? My dr. said ok to take, but I'd feel better if anyone else is/has used it. Either a prescription or OTC.
454221 tn?1259445739 t know the effects of take prilosec now? Does anyone know about prilosec and pregnancy? Is it safe to take or is there something else out there better. I have a doctors appt. on Thursday and hate waiting to know if prilosec is safe or not. I'm going to try and not take it till I see the doctor.
Avatar m tn Now I am worried and trying to understand if the Prilosec caused it. The blood pressure is also higher especially the systolic at 140 to 150. Is Prilosec known to have an effect directly on urine albumin or indirectly through blood pressure? I have read warnings about kidney disease being associated with the long term use of PPIs. I have to take Prilosec for another 3 weeks. Any insights or guidance will be appreciated.

Avatar m tn I have been taking Norco 10 325 since I had back surgery for a ruptured disk in 2006. At first the diskectomy took away most of the pain ( it cleans out scar material away from the rupture to free up the nerve ) Idiot, I had been reverse crunching 310 pounds at the gym. Anyway, was down to 1.5 Norco. By June 2007 ( one year later ) it was 5 norco a day. This increased this summer to eight, then I asked my doctor for Oxycontin. Wise man, he said it was hard to get off.
1387175 tn?1326400997 my doctor will not let off prilosec i am scared i been on this medicine to long i heard alot of bad things if you take it long time you can get esophaus cancer .

Avatar f tn Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.
