For the last 5 yrs ive had ulcer like symptoms.. Two scopes later, both negative and Im still experiencing extreme pain when my stomach is empty... I had the last scope about a year ago and he did happen to mention that i had excess bile... He had to suction it out before he could even look at my stomach....One of the Drs i work with mentioned dumping syndrome, i have some reflux but its not bad... just extreme pain in my stomach when its empty... Ive been on carafate and prevacid etc..
It is directed by the medications manufacturer that it must be given on an empty stomach in order to get the best results. Most children under 6 months of age eat every 2 to 4 hours therefore not allowing their stomachs to fully empty it's contents withen the time needed to administer the medication. If an infants stomach is not empty when given Prevacid their bodies do not absorb it therefore they do not get the best benefit from the medication.
I have been prescribed Nexium by my doctor for the past 9 months and it is wonderful in preventing heartburn but after a while I started noticing that my stomach was slower as it would take up to 12 hours to empty my stomach. I recently changed to Prevacid as it recently came out as an OTC and it is my 10th day on it and already feeling the difference.
I took Prevacid at 1:30 this morning, Synthroid at 6:30, non fiber breakfast at 8:30 and now at 9:30 I am having terrific stomach discomfort . This will dissapate as the morning goes by but have not yet discovered what is causing the distress that I did not have before doing anything. Maybe it is the two cups of caffine???
It takes a proton pump inhibitor like Prilosec several days to be effective. Taking it on an empty stomach (i.e. 30 minutes prior to breakfast) is advisable as well.
If the upper endoscopy is negative, I would consider a 24-hr pH study to quantify the severity of the GERD.

s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
At certain times, I reach the point where I have to retch up my food or either feel constant nausea in the midpoint of my abdomen. In addition to that, during those symptoms, my stomach (occasionally) feels resolutely empty. I was not concerned about this when it first began to occur, but because it's been prolonged I am searching everywhere on the internet as to why my body is functioning so improperly. I've read articles from gallbladder malfunctions to even cancer!
Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. See if this helps. If it helps, then consult a gastroenterologist. If it does not help, then the pain can be due to wrong sleeping posture or due to sleep apnea. Get this investigated. Hope this helps. Take care!
I have been plagued with chronic nausea also. Just saw the doctor this morning for second time in two weeks. I had my gallbladder removed about 6 months ago. He is putting me on Reglan because he says he thinks part of my problem is from my intestines not empyting properly, even though I don't seem to have constipation. In fact lately I have diarrhea.

I have taken prevacid off and on for years without any problem. When the stomach pain started, I thought it was caused by my adrenal insufficiency, since it is one of the symptoms. I have only been on the high dose for about 5 months--and I think the stomach pain started before that---but there is definitely a connection to it now.
I had to raise my HC, was having symptoms that suggested my basline dose was too low.

It was always stomach acid because my stomach was empty. Sounds perfectly normal to me. I, however, had all day sickness so I was put on Zofran. It didn't help much. My husband's stomach gets bloated and very hard after eating. When he lies down, gerd starts and needs to sleep in our reclining chair. He has had colonoscopy and endoscopy and found nothing. What could be causing this. He is taking protonix and has taken prevacid previously. He also gets a sharp pain under his left rib cage.
Is it possible that Gerd and especially Reflux , caused by weak LES , is triggering Afib and what can I do to treat ?

This should be taken empty stomach in the morning. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees.
