prevacid and stomach cancer

I think there is a difference between bowel/colon polyps which should be removed, and benign stomach polyps caused by PPIs. I was diagnosed today with a stomach polyp and told it was most likely a result of long term use of a PPI (in this case Pariet). Does anyone know if benign stomach polyps develop into something nastier, grow bigger, can be reduced by diet, or changing PPI med?? Thanks This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.

Pain always in the same two spots. Worried about stomach cancer because it has gone untreated until now, for like 5 years.

I have started taking prevacid and it has helped a little, but iam now worried that I have let this go for too long and have maybe developed stomach cancer. I smoke 1-2 cigarettes a day and will be quitting this week. I know that leaving ulcers and gastritis untreated can turn into stomach cancer. I have an EGD scheduled for Tuesday and I am terrified of what I will find. My anxiety seems to have made everything so much worse. Can hardly sleep or even work. Any ideas?

I have taken prevacid off and on for years without any problem. When the stomach pain started, I thought it was caused by my adrenal insufficiency, since it is one of the symptoms. I have only been on the high dose for about 5 months--and I think the stomach pain started before that---but there is definitely a connection to it now. I had to raise my HC, was having symptoms that suggested my basline dose was too low.

I have heartburn I am constantly burping and I feel like my stomach is burning and it makes really strange sounds. Has this ever happened to anyone??? I'm just woried it might be stomach cancer or something!!! Please help. Thanks.

Protonix and Nexium did NOTHING for me, nor did Aciphex. Prevacid works OK, and my doc suggested Kapidex and I took it for a month. I did about as well on it as the Prevacid if not a tad better. I think Prevacid and/or Kapidex blow away Nexium; although what may be right for me will not be guaranteed for you. My doc gave me a 3 week free-sample of Kapidex, and you take it once a day. I'm always open to trying something new.

That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!

Has anyone had to try more then 1 type of medicine to relieve their stomach pain from too much acid, gerd or whatever reason they are on the meds. I tried prevacid for 5 weeks and it didn't help at all. I am now trying prilosec and have been on it for a week now, It does seem to have helped somewhat but I still do have problems. I know some of my problems could be from not eating a lot. I don't know what to eat so sometimes I will skip eating which probably isn't good for my stomach.

I took Prevacid at 1:30 this morning, Synthroid at 6:30, non fiber breakfast at 8:30 and now at 9:30 I am having terrific stomach discomfort . This will dissapate as the morning goes by but have not yet discovered what is causing the distress that I did not have before doing anything. Maybe it is the two cups of caffine???

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

t think it seemed loose, but that my stomach did produce more acid than he would like to see. He has me taking 2 prevacid 30miligrams a day. Once in the morning and once at night. The strange thing about my issue is that over the past two years, it only presents itself as a stomach ache and it really doesn't matter what I eat. In fact, I have it in the morning a lot. I was prescribed Prevacid 30mg once a day and after a while the symptoms went away. I actually quit taking the Prevacid two days ago and Im still having stomach pain but I guess it takes time for your gut to get back to normal. I know there are doctors that do lots of good for people...I hope I find one soon. With all this happening I'm only at 3 tabs a day but believe me...I really want to take more. In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

In fact when I burp, I can feel the hot yucky gas coming up from my stomach. A recent google showed that prevacid can cause a side effect of halitosis. Other comments insist it is the GERD but I am not entirely convinced. In my opinion, neither one is new to me, but the halitosis is. Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.

HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.

I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over. I had taken Synthroid (100 mcg) and Prevacid at the same time for 30 years and probably should not have been. Since discovery of cancer and operation, I have been taking the Prevacid 2-4 hrs after Synthroid 137 mcg). Due to the stomach problem, have started taking Prevacid at night.....so far not much difference. Something has developed with my system within the last couple of months and I do have an appointment to see my GP incase there is a new problem started.

Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.

(i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..

m realising I have a lot of symptoms of stomach cancer although from what I can see the symptoms of stomach cancer and reflux are very similar. This is how I feel: Main symotom - recurrent bouts of painful integestion type feeling (kind of in my diaphragm) This happens as and when. Try as I might, I have no been able to pin point a certain thing or time in the day I get it. It seems to come randomly. Excess gas - In the form of flatulence not so much burping. Hoarsness in the morning. Coughing.

But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such. That acid reflux is "normal" and Prevacid will help it. And it did. Or maybe I was thinking it was. Until I ran out of it about 3 weeks ago. The bloat has been back with a vengeance, and today something different has been happening. My stomach/abdomen started hurting in the lower right area, coupled with gas pains.
