My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better.
My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
I'm pretty scared.... I don't know what to think.

About a year now I have had very bad acid reflux and at times due to the damage it was causing, I had lots of trouble swallowing. Before I started taking prevacid ...I wasn't able to swallow ANY kind of food that had any kind of heat to it..and by heat I mean spicy, I don't mean temperature wise.

We changed her diet and the doctor put her on 15 mg prevacid. It was a miracle - she stopped complaining of: stomach aches, never able to clear throat, vomiting in night, always felt like something in chest, etc...
I have been suffering with abdominal pain for about a year and a half now, i had an endoscopy in January 2009 and was diagnosed with mild Gastritis and Reflux, i was given Nexium to take which i took for 4 months and felt better. After a couple of months it came back again but felt worse so i was told by the doctor to go back on Nexium again which i had taken for 3 months and the pain and burning had not gone away.

Head ache is one of the commonly reported side effect of PPIs. Rashes can also occur.
Regarding the relief from symptoms, you need certain life style modifications in addition to taking PPI for complete relief.

Life style modifications -
1. Head elevation while sleeping
2. Small frequent meals
3. Going to bed 2- 3 hours after food
4. Avoiding bed time snacks
5. Avoiding smoking and alcohol
6. Avoiding tight fitting clothes

Yes, a hiatal hernia can mimic a heart attack and give you chest pain. That is why your stress test, echo and EKG are fine...and also, why you have been prescribed Prevacid, which is a drug that reduces stomach acid.
I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker. After taking prevacid for a month I went back and check with my doctor telling him my symptoms, he doesn't seem to care and tell me to contiune to take prevacid for 1 more month.

s related as they are totally nonpainful. Now, could the leg and chest pain be related? And if so is it indicative of any kind of cardiovascular problem? I realize all the tests I've had done point to there being absolutely nothing wrong with my heart, but I have incredible anxiety about it and no one seems to know what my chest pain means.
My 8 year old son has been suffering from severe abdominal pain, headaches, eye pressure, and even back pain just about every night. He just went through a endoscopy, colonoscopy, xray, and sonogram. For the most part, the endoscopy and the colonoscopy went very well and the GI Dr. had no real concerns only that due to my son suffering from GERDs, she saw in the xray that the bile is backing up into the stomach.
Search the net for GERD, Apple Cider Vinegar and you will see folks describing what you mentioned here - except for the jaw/leg pain. That may be a coincidence. And when you say you feel it at rest, that points to anxiety which works with GERD to make you miserable.

m a second time mom, 30weeks, who is struggling more with this pregnancy than my last. I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
