Prednisone dosing in cats

Common Questions and Answers about Prednisone dosing in cats

About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
It popped up again in a very reduced form a week or so before the end of dosing. I had some Lidex left, which cleared it up in no time at all. Good luck with your clinic visit. Please let us know how they are treating the rash.
NOW FOODS like the one I told Pip to order comes in powder form, and its the one best recommend for use for cats. for cats to prepare you need to boil some water. Mix 1/2 teaspoon SLB to 2 tbsps. hot water in a jar. stir lightly. let sit for 30 mins. than shake. this will make a thick gruel(if its too thick add a drop more water) after its cool give kitty 3-5cc's via a dropper 2-3xdaily. BUT it HAS to be 30mins before or after food or any medication so not to effect absorption...
well I got The walmart Ranitidine for it, amazingly after about 4 days of using this I started having normal BM, it took me a while to put two and tow together then I read on line in another article that this had helped in lab tests but not tried in cats yet. NONE of the vets had even heard of it, well, it only takes it 12-24 hrs to start working acording to this drs chart.
it has been two weeks since I took acai berry and had a violent reaction that landed me in the emergency room. I had to go on two rounds of prednisone and benedryl. I am still having some reactions, but am getting better. I keep getting a palm smell in my nose, and my lips feel numb as I try to wean my self off prednisone. I have filed a report with the FDA, and feel that anyone trying this product should check with their doctor first. For some, this is very deadly.
There were no significant differences between the groups with respect to age, body mass index (BMI), family history of diabetes, alcohol consumption, or laboratory indices. The cohort had no or minimal fibrosis. There was lower prednisone use in the HCV(+) group, and no difference in the use of tacrolimus between the two groups was found. IR was 77% higher in HCV(+) subjects during the first year post-LT when controlling for BMI (P = 0.035).
I was hive free for about @ weeks while on high doses of prednisone but hives returned when weaning off of prednisone. I also have gained 45 lbs. in since June due to prednisone. I have started Plaquenil about 3 weeks ago and am hoping things will get better after being on it for a while. They say it takes couple months to help. Along with the hives I have angioedema in my face, hands and feet. Sometimes I can't find any shoes to fit except crocs or something like that.
of course, I wasn't thrilled about the way the scientists isolated the gene to inject in the cats to make the offspring light up like dayglo . . . wyn ps - I wish medhelp had a spellcheck feature, too.
Severe fatigue. We put her on the Prednisone w/taper down dosing. It was extremely hard on her - she was unable to attend school, leave the house, leave my side. She used Ativan to take the edge off, but cried much of the two weeks. NOW she has developed Thrush from the meds. Her head and stomache pain increased, the low grade fever never left, the heart still races occassionally throughout the day.

The technique in this manual involves bending over in a hot shower. Obviously, if you bend over in a shower, there is a slight possibility that you can get dizzy and fall down. You could possibly hit your head, get knocked out, or break something. It’s a tiny risk, greater if you are older, overweight, obese, or have reduced blood flow in your neck arteries, but it’s a risk you must assume if you want get rid of an otherwise untreatable sinus infection.
I have really struggled with this because I didn't know if it was because I did not like seeing her in the state she is in now, and I thought that is not a reason to do it. As long as you want to, you keep her with you. I guess is what I am trying to say. There are many means of keeping them comfortable, and we would not do that to a family member just because they are at the end.... bottom line, you will know when(if) it is the right time. Be strong....and trust yourself.
It is possible that they can last this long. Most people say they go away in a day or two, but in very sensitive dogs, it takes much longer. My dog was knocked flat by the loading dose and barely moved for the first couple of days. He bumped into objects, seemed blind, responded to sounds incorrectly (looked in the wrong direction), tripped, stumbled, and fell flat on his stomach a few times when trying to walk.

my eye doctor told me it was due to mild allergies and prescribed eye drops which didnt help in the least so i turned to over the counter allergy medicine which hasn't helped either (so i dont think it's allergies) and in the last 3 weeks not only are my eyelids itchy but when i wake up in the morning my upper eye lids are bright red and swelled up so bad that its embarassing!!!!
But, PLEASE check with your vet before giving her the Prednisone! It is only to be given in case of emergency and we were told not to give it to he unless we called them first. My beagle has been on Lysodren for about 7 years. She only had this one set back over the holidays. That's the first time we had to give her Prednisone. I was a little surpised that the vet keeps her on it daily now. I thought it was just a one time thing.
in last 6 years, --my feet hurt so bad on the bottom i can hardly walk somedays (most days) severe fatigue, flares of some sort- brain fog- really bad-to the point i dont drive much anymore pain, burning, crawling sensations, electric like jolts in my arms, legs, ect.
My itchiness has been getting progessively worse for the past few years. I'd say almost 3 yrs now. It's to the point where I can't even engage in intercourse with my partner, go shopping or even go out in the sun. I keep hearing and reading how Urticaria, usually has signs on the skin surface but I don't, except for the really bad itchy feeling.
So, I am 31 and struggling with all the chemical changes in my body. Sometime I feel as if I am going crazy with all the emotional lows I have. I should be elated that I am cancer free and able to move on with life as normal. But I do not feel that way. Help. Can anyone offer me tips on how to cope and any suggestions on a healthy lifestyle (diet/exercise) regimen I can incorporate into my life. Any idea of some the hurdles I might need to prepare myself and my loved ones for??
Can't give you much help, but I have the same thing except mine is on the left shoulder blade. Have had it for years, doesn't happen all the time, but I think it has to do with muscle tension. Sometimes at night when I go to bed, I go to lie down and where that feeling is, it will grab, and I have to move my left arm a different way until it relaxes. Sorry I couldn't help much more. Take care!!
This has some molecular and genetic explanation which has something to do with alcohol metabolism in the body. In the absence of other symptoms though (eg weight loss, changes in bowel movement, neurological deficits) ,this may not be very urgent. One important thing to exclude here though is an allergic reaction.Watch out for any diffiulty of breathing, rash that involves the entire body and generalized sensation of flushing. Continue to have a close follow up with your doctor.
Hi, I have just diagonized with GERD only but negative to H.Poly bacteria. I have to tried variety of medicines (including homeo) for GERD but nothing works. Usually I don't blurp a lot. But there is lot of pain (not pain exactly but sort of strange feeling on the upper part of the stomach and doctors say this is common due to GERD) But I must say that I felt a lot better with had the candida related drug (Called Threelac bought from US). Usually I feel worse during the winter.
that I can see, unless I give in and scratch. I take cranberry supplements to keep me flushed out for a UTI, which I was treated for last year. My doctor is unsupportive, and unhelpful-told me was due to regrowth from not getting waxed. I just want some facts to arm myself with before trying the doc (new doc) office again. Any suggestions?? All you cooch experts feel free to speculate.
