My youngest daughter(7) has had the chicken pox vaccine. Is she more likely to get chicken pox from a person with shingles or chicken pox? I understand that she has had the vaccine, I just do not know if she has a better chance of getting chicken pox from a person with chicken pox or is she more likley to get it from a person with shingles, if she were to get it?
I can feel it coming on too, like how you feel when you get the chills, or goose bumps. No rash or anything yet. I'm 32. Do the shingles tingle come and go like mine has? do i just need to wait a few days to see if a rash pops up? and its all across my back, not just one side.. unless they one side means front and back- not left and right.also it the past few hours , i''ve had no energy , and feel like i may be getting sick.
Usually shingles only affect one side of the body at a time and may occur due to what is going on inside (did you have bronchitis/pneumonia, or hurt that area like a back injury?) One of the most important things you can do is keep warm, this will help with the nerve pain. Also try not to scratch and open the blisters. Benadryl by mouth may help and so might Caladryl (calamine plus Benadryl), just remember to cut down on the oral Benadryl if using topicals that contain Benadryl..
I had Shingles when I was 28, but I wasn't officially diagnosed until I was 33 yrs old, I am 47 now. I've never been told that I have autoimmune hepatitis though and I've had 4 biopsies. I was originally genotyped as 1A/1B, but now, after 10 treatments, I've been genotyped almost 2 yrs ago as a genotype 1A. I also had pneumonia when I was 25. At first, I was really concerned, because of knowing that I had risk factors for HIV due to the IV drug use that I stupidly did in my early 20's.
4 rashes are on the back right side of my neck each smaller than an inch across. The lymph nodes in that are very tender. I'm concerned after noticing articles relating shingles to an HIV infection. I'll begin with my sexual history. I had unprotected sex with 2 girlfriends back in the early to mid-90's. Both are now married, have children and seem to be doing well. The last time I had unprotected sex was in 2000 with my ex-girlfriend of 3 years. She was a bit promiscuous prior to meeting me.
My 87 year old grandmother got shingles after having pneumonia last November. The shingles went away but she was left with severe daily pain and after seeing several doctors was told she has postherpetic neuralgia. She is working with a pain management specialist now and takes the following each day: up to 6 vicodin, 2 oxycontin, and 12 gabapentin (neurontin). She was also prescribed cymbalta and takes one per day (not sure of the mg.
Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can advise me, I got shingles when I was 23, I got them all down my right side and even in my eye, opthalmic shingles. I always thought shingles were for the old and weak immune system people. No offence intended its just what I believed. Can I get it again? Can I prevent getting it again? Also I'm constantly getting flu if I don't get a flu jab.
Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can advise me, I got shingles when I was 23, I got them all down my right side and even in my eye, opthalmic shingles. I always thought shingles were for the old and weak immune system people. No offence intended its just what I believed Also I'm constantly getting flu if I don't get a flu jab. If I do get a flu jab I seem to mange with only catching flu 1/2 a year which is fab, I highly recommend flu jabs now.
I have had exercise induced asthma issues for years, it has now turned into daily occurrences with or without exercise. Since my lungs are already compromised, I have been advised to take a flu shot this year. I have never done so before and would like your opinions on either getting or not getting a flu shot.
Hi! If you were my patient, I would encourage you to consider vaccinations for influenza, shingles (varicella zoster), and pneumonia. Your diabetes puts you at higher risk for complications due to these infections. You should ask your doctor for his/her recommendations as well. Good luck!
One of the side effects is that it can reactivate HCV or HBV. I was horrified to read about this and wanted to share. I know that doctors can prescribe medications without knowing the sx and I have read about many people on here having pain that could be related to RA. I hope it is ok that I am posting this. I am trying to help and I am wondering if this is possible? Can a drug really reactivate HCV?...HBV? oh, I guess I did have a question.
I have been sickSick sinus syndrome on and off for the past 2 months, on March 5th my body gave up and my husband took me to the ER where they diagnosed me with pneumoniaAtypical pneumonia Chickenpox, acute pneumonia - chest x-ray Hospital-acquired pneumonia Pneumococcal pneumonia Pneumonia Viral pneumonia.
Often I will get a bad cold as well, which has several times become pneumonia. (I had my first bout of viral pneumonia at age nine, in both lungs) For years I would wake up with intense pain in my right ear and would often notice that the ear had been weeping while I slept, as there was a dried crust around the outer ear canal in the morning.
It's to the point where I can't even engage in intercourse with my partner, go shopping or even go out in the sun. I keep hearing and reading how Urticaria, usually has signs on the skin surface but I don't, except for the really bad itchy feeling. Sometimes I question whether or not I have something else because it's really bad and it feels like I have a sudden burning rush of nails/needles stabbing my skin and I can't even move but only twitch.
Yes, it is possible for Herpes Zoster, also known as Shingles, to cause pneumonia. The pneumonia would appear as white areas on a chest x-ray. Shingles can cause paralysis of one side of the diaphragm, which would appear on a chest x-ray as an elevated diaphragm on that side. If it is a paralyzed diaphragm, neither thoracoscopy nor thoracentesis is needed, since this paralysis generally resolves over time.
last night,. i had 3-4 simultaneous stabbing pains that lasted 2-3 seconds in the sternum/heart area, VERY scary very uncomfortable. i do not know if this was GAS or if it was ACID REFLUX the docs always say either its ACID REFLUX or its "anxiety or stress" related. And yes when im full of gas, i am bloated , have a weird sensation in the body, a lil dizzy,. but once i release it, its like such a relief ! bloating goes away, i feel so good, but its hard to release it.

Why you had had pneumonia is not something we can answer without your medical history. Besides this community is to discuss hepatitis C and all ramifications. Pneumonia is an infection of the lung. Sepsis is a severe illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria. Sepsis can be caused by an infection of the lungs. (bacterial pneumonia). Only your doctor who treated you can say what happened.
Hepatitis A and B, Flu, Typhoid, Rabies, Tetanus and HPV are given IM or in the upper arm. Measles (MMR), Chicken Pox (or Varicella) and the Shingles are given SC or subcutaneously, which is the fatty part of the back part of your arm. Polio and Pneumonia may be given either IM or SC.
I went to see a doctor what seemed to be Flu related illness and he had me take a random chest x-ray on Feb 17th and diagnosed me with pneumonia inflammtion of the right lung. I was given 2 weeks of anti-biotic Levaquin then in early march I was given another chest x-ray and the doctor said the pneumonia was gone. However, my chronic cough is gone, but I have new symtons such as a form of Central Pain Syndrome it felt as the burning as if someone has shingles.
That was the last time I ever got a flu vaccine or pneumonia vaccine. In regards to the shingles vaccine.....you are being injected with the herpes simplex virus so obviously the Graves antibodies are going to react against it but it is your personal preference whether to have it or not. There has been a lot of debates over vaccines. In Australia, they were giving the pig flu vaccine when it was still under TRIAL. They found a few babies actually died from the vaccine and not the swine flu.
It's more painful when I walk, Ive had an ultrasound and they said everythings ok but I've been having this pain for so long I'm only 18 and I've had shingles , pneumonia, collapsed 8 times felt sick every day without fail mostly after food. Been really tired and lethargic so weak I can't even move sometimes I just wonder if it's a all linked?? I've been on and on at the docs and they don't seem to listen or care.
probably not shingles they tend to follow a pattern such as along the braline or around the waist line. has she had a sore throat. rash can be many things. If she had a fever could of been strep if left untrated can turn into scarlet fever or roseola, along of infections and viruses can produce a rash. hope this helpslol.
The flue is epidemic where I live right now. I was encouraged to have the flu shot prior to treating & I did. There was a question a few months ago about the Shingles vaccine so I asked about all three. Both my GI & PCP told me (at the time) I could have a flu shot & pneumonia while on treatment but discouraged the Shingles. At that time my ANC was around 1 or so. This is based on my particular medical history however.
I agree with you about getting all of the vaccinations. I actually received a pneumonia vac., a Herpes Zoster (shingles) vac., and a tetanus-diptheria vac. last March before I was ever diagnosed with Hep. C. I recieved a Hep. A vac. in August (need the last part of it in Feb.). I had been vaccinated for Hep. B many years ago (1990s) and it is still effective. Any one of those diseases (Hep. A, Hep.
Also it is possible that you have a bad gastric reflux or costochondritis or pleurisy (if you have cough) or it can be shingles too (the rash may not have erupted). Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Phrenic nerve damage or palsy can occur due to a recent trauma, wrong chiropractic move, a recent surgery (cardiac or in the arm pit etc), due to malignancy/cancer, due to infection (like pneumonia) or herpes zoster affliction of the nerve (called shingles) or due to irritation caused by osteophytes (bony projections) formed in cervical vertebrae that press on the nerve. In your case the cause could be osteophytes as you appear to be having an alignment problem in upper spine.
It started when he was just under 3 months and was hospitalized with RSV for 5 days. He now gets pneumonia at least 3-6 times every year or more and the doctor's never believe that he has it until they give him a chest x-ray, they will give him an antibiotic and will be fine for 1 week or so and back comes the pneumonia. He sometimes gets it during summer months as well. He has had the chicken pox 3 times and an extremely bad case of shingles all before he 3 1/2 yrs old.
