I exercised a lot and didn't eat any more, and gained 50 pounds over a period of years. You'll see reports of it with any antidepressant. You have to decide what's more important, feeling good or looking good if you're of the ones who experiences weight gain. Increased the dose for hot flashes? Now that's a quack.

I know paxil makes me gain weight but it really does work. What I would like to know is there another antidepressant that does not make u gain weight? I tryed prozac forget that my heart raced so bad i almose died.

I have been on Paxil for 8 months for panic attacks and the weight gain is getting so hard to deal with. I've decided to go off of it. Can anyone tell me if they lost the weight easily after going of it. Or possible suggest another anti anxiety med that doesn't have this particular side effect.

Hello, I've been on paxil for about 4 yrs,for my anxiety and depression, it has worked wonders for my anxiety, but lately my depression has got worse and just feeling uneasy,unmotivated. I go to my doctors in a couple of days and want to try a new depression med,but am afraid my anxiety will come back. What meds should I try. Ive been on Lexapro twice first time it worked quit it and started it again when I had my first anxiety issues,didn't work for my depression.

Paxil is not known to cause weight gain. In clinical trials, weight gain by people on Paxil was the same as for placebo, and therefore not deemed an adverse effect.

I have done research about the side effects from taking Paxil but their website says weight gain is a possibility and mentions nothing about the loss of energy. I feel like I cannot accomplish anything because of all the sleep I require. Im 24 and I went from a size 1 to a size 7. I have decided against my doctor's wishes to stop taking this medication. I am wheaning myself off slowly because of the horrible withdrawl sysmptoms such as severe dizziness and nausea.

Hi: I have general anxiety with a tendency towards social anxiety. I used to have panic attacks but haven't had one in a couple years. I also suffer with depression. What drug has helped you? I am now taking Klonopin for the anxiety and Prozac for depression. I would like to cut the Klonopin or at least cut down (now taking 1 mg/day). The Prozac isn't helping my depression at all and I have given it months to work.

As far as weight gain I gained but it was due to other meds than the paxil at this time because when I took it several yrs b4 my kids I didnt gain any weight..For me the paxil has been a lifesaver and its been on the market several yrs now..So, it can be trusted alot more than these new meds that are comming out..It takes several days to start feeling the effects of the medication..You should be able to tell pretty quick if you are going to react good or bad to it...

My big question is when are the doctors going to stop telling everyone that they do not gain weight on antidepressants, I have been on lexapro now for 2 yrs, and have gained 25 lbs, I watch what I eat exercise, dance, etc... and the weight will NOT come off. My doctor tells me well you are are at the age of premenopause and at that age, that you are going to gain weight, well I am getting tired of hearing it.

You are kinda in a quandry cause most of the good anti anxiety meds are addictive and have the propensity to aggrevate depression. Most of the anti depressants that are used for anxiety tend to make you gain weight and cause sexual sideeffects. There aren't too many anti depressants that you have to avoid sunlight with but most of the mood stabilizers can make you alittle sun sensitive. Jeez! You will probably have to decide which way you wanna go - possible addiction?

Yea, Paxil is a bad one for weight gain. Fair warning... If any doctor tries to put you on Remeron and weight is a concern for you then SAY NO WAY. I have been on both at differnt times in the past. You want to talk about weight gain? OMG! Remeron makes Paxil look like a diet pill! Taking Remeron is like wanting to be fat.

Think about it, if you and your significant other were the only two people on the earth, would you rather be on the paxil, free of depression, and have a little weight gain, or would you rather be thin and depressed? If you said you would rather have a little extra weight on and be free of depression, then your only reason for wanting to get off the Paxil and lose weight is because your concerned about what other people think.

Getting off Paxil (if needed) is really no worse that stopping any other antidepressant. Paxil is the one SSRI that people report the most weight gain with. This doesn't mean you will gain weight on Paxil. Everyone is different, but yes Paxil is notorious for weight gain side effects.

So im back on it now and my weight is at 150lbs. I gained the weight back almost instantly. I dont have depression i just get bad panic attacks and dont really know why. I see a psychiatrist and everything but this medication saved me. I have never had an orgasim either though. I want to know what i can do? if there are other medication options better for me than paxil to help with these symptoms? I want to get back to my 120lb frame! And i want to enjoy sex!

I had been on Paxil for about 10 years and I believe it just wasn't working well enough. I tapered off of it in about 3 months without any problems. I have been off of it for about two months. Two weeks ago our air condition system conked out and I had to replace the whole unit. Spending $3000 kicked off an episode of anxiety that has lasted since then. 5 months and my anxiety is coming back, and havent lost any of the weight either. I need to go back on Paxil but need to find a way to battle the weight gain. I have heard combining Wellbutrin can help with maintaining but I have read more success stories with Topamax.

paxil caused me to gain 40 pounds which i was almost able to lose through hard exercise and diet but then got pregnant... just work out it will come off, but it may be a little stubborn.

I switched from Paxil 75mg, with no weight gain or appetite to Wellbutrin 300 XL with uncontrolled appetite and the inability to feel satiety after eating which has led to mild weight gain. Wellbutrin has been a nightmare for me this last year but I'm not willing to go back on Paxil and possibly subject myself to the torture of withdrawing from it again. I'm lacking options at this point on what to do. The Wellbutrin has worsened my sleep disorder.

I've been on Paxil for almost 2 years and have noticed a weight gain as well. Which I find strange because one of the side effects is loss of appatite (sp), but I noticed the complete opposite! I am 54 yrs old now and I weight 200lbs, am on Lithium 900mg and Seroquel 300 mg and Paxil. All my doctors have denied weight gain from the medications and I do not understand that. This stuff just comes on like majic. When I started the Seroquel I immediately gained 20 lbs. YIKES!!! I admit I do not exercise like I used to before I was diagnosed. I am lucky to eat one meal a;day. Just not hungery. I am sure if I got on some exercise plan along with better eatting I could work my *** off.
