paxil

983155 tn?1248700406 re in Paxil withdrawal and, because you started another drug at the same time that has a completely different mechanism of action, you have the side effects of starting another drug that may not even be an appropriate substitute for Paxil. What you should do is, if you just started the wellbutrin, stop it, go back on the Paxil, and taper off slowly, as slowly as it takes because you aren't anyone else. What you have are classic Paxil withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I'm sure this is something I should ask my doctor, but I figured there are many knowledgable people on this forum so... I really feel that I need to be on medication but my anxiety over-rides my rational thinking -- it's like I'm too anxious about the (possible) side-effects to take something that could provide some relief. I have a prescription for Paxil, which I've taken in the past, and was wondering if it would provide some benefit if I only took it every other day???
1422233 tn?1282701102 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested. Whenever I first started Paxil I had horrible side effects, I woke up in the middle of the night vomiting & had hot flashes often. Is this going to happen again? Also, my friend told me that if you take AD's & aren't depressed then they can make you depressed. So if I'm "better" & don't need medicine anymore could this possibly make me worse?
Avatar f tn If your concern is only the weight change factor just keep an eye on your weight and if you start to notice you that your gaining or losing call your doctor. The weight is one of the less serious side effects. But do your research on the Paxil and the dosage. Or nothing may happen at all the side effects vary from person to person. You may not have any side effects.
Avatar m tn Should I expect adverse reactions or side effects from transitioning from 40mg/day of Paxil to a regular dosage of name brand Wellbutrin? I am a male, 6'2, 242 lbs (target 190-195), tall and large build/frame. I have never been seriously ill. I have no allergies. I have never had serious/violent reactions to medications. As an example, I took Acutane for 5 months and only had chapped lips as a side effect.
Avatar m tn s working. I was Paxil for several years, and the side effects changed over time, and I was on imipramine for several years and the side effects changed over time and then it stopped working and I'm on Lexapro and the side effects have changed over time. Just the nature of the beast.
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
20632981 tn?1503687567 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
Avatar n tn Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects. Did a great job for me! Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety. However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
Avatar m tn They're both in the same class of drugs, and pretty much treat the same symptoms. Paxil is a newer medication, and if the dosage isn't working you may need to have your doctor increase it. Prozac is an old drug and I think the newer ones come with fewer side effects. It's best to discuss this with your doctor since he is aware of what will best suit your needs.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
1491613 tn?1337630788 Anxiety; blurred vision; constipation; decreased sexual desire or ability; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; gas; increased sweating; increased urination; loss of appetite; nausea; nervousness; numbness or tingling of the skin; stomach upset; trouble concentrating; trouble sleeping; weakness; yawning. This doesn't include the "severe" side effects or the ones the FDA hasn't listed yet. Also, 40 mg is the highest level available, Paxil starts in a 10 mg form.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me from Paxil to Wellbutrin due to the decreased sex drive of Paxil. Otherwise Paxil was working well for me. Anyway, my issue is that it was a direct switch, no weaning off of Paxil and I think I'm having the withdrawal. I thought the Wellbutrin would just sort of take over, but I don't think that is the case. I didn't think to ask my doc, and the soonest I can get back to see him is Monday. It's been 7 days w/o Paxil and 6 with Wellbutrin.
Avatar f tn However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar m tn i am currently withdrawing from paxil because of bad side effects, but it did take away my depression, it didnt do anything for anxiety. i take this herb called kratom for anxiety and it works very well.
Avatar m tn I have read that adding wellbutrin can help with both weight gain and sexual problems, but it is stimulating so you have to watch your anxiety. You're also on a high dosage of Paxil -- do you need that much? Not that a lower dosage will necessarily help as to the side effects. I also couldn't eat much when coming off Paxil, but it was because of the difficulties so many have coming off this med.
Avatar m tn Finding the right med can be a little tricky and in my experience whenever I started, stopped, switched, or adjusted the dosage of a med like this, side effects will definitely increase in my opinion. Have you brought this up with your doctor? I have always found that the more you talk with your health care provider and/or therapist, it makes things much easier...keep us posted!
Avatar f tn Deplin seems to be an anti-depressant booster, and Abilify could cause the twitching. It does take a while for it to get out of the system. If after a month off the drugs, and the twitching is still there, you migh want to consult with a psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn 5 mg lexparo and slowly she will lower teh paxil dosage, She is telling me that i have several withdraw effects from paxil.
Avatar f tn I was recently on paxil for anxiety until I realized all of the side effects that I was getting including gaining weight. I talked to my doctor and he said I could wean myself off. I was taking 20 mg. He said 10 mg for 2 weeks and then 5mg for 2 weeks, after start wellbutrin. However, I didn't make it that far. Just by one week of going Down to 10 mg I was vomiting, running to the bathroom. Nervousness, dizzy, brain zap and a fuzzy feeling in my head, sweating, VERY emotional.
1460652 tn?1340248730 For me it took about 3-4 weeks for my body to adjust to an SSRI like Celexa. I always notice some side effects whenever I start, stop, or adjust the dose of what I am taking (under a doctor's supervision of course). When I first started taking them, I was initially very nervous, so the side effects were probably magnified because I was linking every little feeling to the medication when it was probably my anxiety about taking the medication that was making me feel the way I did.
Avatar f tn Just to add, it usually take about a month before you start to feel any benefit from Paxil. And plenty of people have negative side-effects during that first month of use. I was one of the lucky ones and didn't have any noticeable side-effects from it during my first month. But if Paxil isn't helping after a month and the side-effects are too great - there are other antidepressants out there that will probably help.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I'd stay away from Paxil unless it's a last resort. Very difficult med to take and to quit, and it's so strong if you have to come off it often other meds won't work. I had similar head clouds from Lexapro, by the way. If you can do this with therapy and avoid meds, that's always best -- no side effects if no meds. But if you don't like difficult meds, Paxil, again, should be a last resort.
Avatar f tn ve described are indeed common and known side effects to Paxil. It is not an allergic reaction as you would develop a rash or experience tingling or swelling of your tongue and throat. Studies have shown that the side effects will gradually decrease with continued treatment over 4—6 weeks. Only 1-2% of patients experiencing these side effects discontinue the medication.
