Avatar n tn Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects. Did a great job for me! Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety. However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
1330166 tn?1379548346 I've been on Paxil for somewhere around 15 years. It was the only med I could tolerate and it's done it's job by calming down my panic and helping with depression. I still have problems, but life was total hell before the paxil. I tried changing meds a couple months ago because I told my med management nurse I was always tired so she told me to take Celexa because it is purer with less side effects. Well, 6 weeks later I found myself hopeless and suicidal!
Avatar n tn m not big on side effects and all that. I have been taking paxil for 4 days now and on day two I realized that I was yawning so much that my jaw was starting to hurt (yawn) I cant stop. Im really really tired and the yawning is getting quite annoying. Is this normal and when does It usually stop? Im also obese weighing in at 257.4 lbs with only a 5'2" height. I heard alot about paxil making you gain weight. I dont want that. Im trying to become healthy.
Avatar f tn However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar m tn s working. I was Paxil for several years, and the side effects changed over time, and I was on imipramine for several years and the side effects changed over time and then it stopped working and I'm on Lexapro and the side effects have changed over time. Just the nature of the beast.
Avatar f tn I was recently on paxil for anxiety until I realized all of the side effects that I was getting including gaining weight. I talked to my doctor and he said I could wean myself off. I was taking 20 mg. He said 10 mg for 2 weeks and then 5mg for 2 weeks, after start wellbutrin. However, I didn't make it that far. Just by one week of going Down to 10 mg I was vomiting, running to the bathroom. Nervousness, dizzy, brain zap and a fuzzy feeling in my head, sweating, VERY emotional.
983155 tn?1248700406 re in Paxil withdrawal and, because you started another drug at the same time that has a completely different mechanism of action, you have the side effects of starting another drug that may not even be an appropriate substitute for Paxil. What you should do is, if you just started the wellbutrin, stop it, go back on the Paxil, and taper off slowly, as slowly as it takes because you aren't anyone else. What you have are classic Paxil withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar n tn My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds. The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
Avatar f tn I've never heard of this as a side effect. Oxygen has nothing to do with how the drug works. Are you feeling sedated? Antidepressants have as one of the most common side effects a feeling of sedation that sometimes goes away with time and sometimes doesn't. It could be you're feeling more tired and that's why you're yawning more, and it could be a habit you've picked up because of some other side effect.
Avatar m tn I also take Paxil for a sleep disorder (depression-related insomnia) and have for 11+ years. It works wonderously, but I gained 30+ lbs when I started the medication and have tried for years to lose it, unsuccessfully. I will lose some weight - and believe me, it takes an enormous amount of exercise and effort - but inevitably gain it back because Paxil makes my appetite so strong.
382404 tn?1207588100 I doubled up on my paxil so i could sleep better at night, but now im too tired during the day......i take 20mg in the morn and 20 mg at night, and boy do i sleep. it kinda makes me lazy during the day.....is this bad?
944223 tn?1245869858 t taper of SSRIs like Paxil there can be unwanted side effects to include what you are describing in my opinion. That is why it is essential not to quit these medications cold turkey. For me, tapering slowly minimized these side effects and they will go away...keep us posted!
Avatar f tn that was my exact experience when i finally tried Prozac a few years later. I felt no side effects for the first few weeks and then over a week period felt happy and content for the first time in a LONG time. i have heard conflicting info on this forum, but many docs said if it is correct you will nothing like a placebo and gradually feel better, they say that if it makes you feel more jittery or anxious it is not the one. ask your doc if he or she feels that way.
Avatar n tn s what will continue to happen. Has anyone had these side effects that are ongoing when you take Prestiq? Also, how do you recommend weaning off the medication. In the past, I had taken Effexor and had to wean off by breaking open the capsule and decreasing the grains. Thanks for any suggestions.

Avatar f tn I was on Paxil for 15 plus years..when hospitalised for psyc reasons..Dr weaned me off it in 3 days by having paxil dose cut in half and giving me Wellbutrin...NEVER stop any psyc med wo drs help// anyways it may be your bodys too accustomed to the Paxil..ask your dr if he thinks another anti depressant may be better abd if he could switch while weaning you off other. just a thought!
4981427 tn?1371670469 All meds come with possible side effects, even aspirin. The tiredness your feeling could be a side effect or it could be from having more anxiety.
Avatar n tn Effexor can be a tough med because it works on two neurotransmitters and can cause anxiety because of that. Lexapro is reputed to have fewer side effects than, say, Paxil, which because it also strongly affects choline as well as serotonin can cause anger and such. But if he went directly from Lexapro to Paxil, there's no way of knowing if its withdrawal from the one or side effects of the other. The purest antidepressant of the ssris is Prozac, and he could try the tricyclics.
Avatar n tn also when i get off of Paxil can I just stop right away like that?

Avatar f tn hi, all anti-depressants can cause suicidal thoughts, my doc warned me before i took them if i ever felt like this go straight to a and e, they will make you feel worse at first and this may last up to six weeks, it takes this long to get in your system, theres a new anti out called citalopram it has less side effects and doesnt take as long to get in your system, i remember taking one anti d and i felt these weird burning sharp pains in the back of my head i went the doctors and he laughed and
Avatar n tn I take paxil now for about 14 years. I know that there are many side effects when you start it, but I wouldn't know it because I was such in a bad state at the time that I was sick all the time anyway. Some meds work better than others depending on the individual. It takes about a month for the medication to really get into your system and help. But, I would check with your doctor anyway about your side effects.
358304 tn?1409709492 In my experience with SSRIs like Paxil, I tend to notice side effects whenever I start, stop, or adjust the dosage (according to the Doc's orders of course). I believe that it can be two-fold. One, I believe it does take our bodies a bit to adjust to the medication and two, I also believe that we are much more aware of any symptoms and relate them to the medication's side effects whether they are related or not. For example, is the yawning due to taking the Paxil?
