Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms maltese

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn I'm wondering if her symptoms could be caused by an attack of Pancreatitis...? Inflammation of the Pancreas is very painful (i.e. her shaking) and most often causes vomiting. It is confirmed by blood tests showing elevated amylase and/or lipase levels, along with a new serum test called canine pancreatitis lipase immuninol reactivity and TAP (Trypsinogen Activation Peptide).
129422 tn?1222699589 s office and three blood profiles (one comprehensive one), other than initial dx of pancreatitis, vet is stumped as to what might be wrong. Initially (first week of August), our Maltese did vomit and wouldn't eat (and he always eats voraciously). Taken to vet around first week in August. Xrays showed nothing. Blood workup showed mild pancreatis and stool sample did show some minor blood in it. He was started on mild Rx diet and sent home. We were told to give him 5 mg.

Avatar n tn I have a 7-year-old Maltese named Hip-Hip and he is 20 lbs. I know that he is purebred because my mother owns his parents and I saw him being born. :) He was diagnosed with Pituitary Cushing's Disease when he was only 6 years old. As far as I know, that is pretty young to be diagnosed with Cushing's. Also, all of the Maltese puppies that were bred from the two parents ended up being very small (10 lbs was the biggest one aside from Hip-Hip).
Avatar f tn I had a 5 year old male maltese and on christmas eve, I gave him a small piece of pork and let him chew on the large pork shoulder bone. On christmas morning when I woke up, it was apparent that my baby was sick the whole night as there was vomit all over the kitchem which is where he slept, his water bowl was empty and after filling it was apparent he was dehydrated as he drank all the water but then threw it up. After a few hours he seemed ok, not too happy but the vomiting had stopped.
Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
Avatar f tn She spent 2 nights in the ER hospital. She had pancreatitis. This infection settled in her kidneys causing off the chart high kidney values. She had to go on an IV drip but because of her mitral valve heart condition, she could not receive fluids too quickly. Flushed her kidneys and praise the Lord! Her values have stayed normal since returning home! Downside, the cough is back...She is on Sucrafate, Pepcid AC, Batril, Amoxil, Pimobenden, Anopril, mirtaximide and lasix.

Avatar f tn So I have a 7month old maltese. While I am at work I let my in laws take care of her and my in law takes care of other dogs (male or female). For some reason.. My female Maltese stomach has been growing outrageously big..not typical for a regular maltese weight/size. I'm thinking she may be pregnant but I'm not sure if she can be at such a young age. The only thing i also notice differently is that she is more relaxed (laying down all the time) & always out of breath. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn My 8 year old male Maltese has been showing symptoms of what seems to be Kennel Cough, however my assumptions are based on an hour's worth of internet research. I haven't visited the vet yet due to financial reasons. I came across TWO youtube clips of two different dogs showing likewise symptoms that my maltese has been showing lately. It's been happening for about a week now.
Avatar f tn I have 2 dogs, a Maltese and a Yorkie. They will both be turning 1 Dec. 16, and we got them both together so they have grown up together and all that. The maltese is a bit more shy and reserved while my yorkie is more out going and yappy. I have always been more attached to the maltese cuz he's more sweet, hes a mommy's boy and the yorkie likes my husband more since they play rough and is a bit aggressive.
2094952 tn?1334015457 My 4 month old Maltese is grinding his teeth or something. It is almost like he has a plastic pop cap in his mouth and he is biting down on it.
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar m tn ve avoided all carbs and sugar on the advice of dr google, I started to suspect it could be Pancreatitis as a side effect of the hand foot mouth virus. This diet seems to help, I barely feel the pain now, it comes and goes. I have also been peeing a lot, but I've been drinking a lot of water. Not necessarily because I'm super thirsty, but when I'm not feeling well, I try to drink a lot of water.
Avatar n tn I called his vet who is treating him for the diabetes, explained his symptoms and the vet offered no diagnosis. His symptoms occurred again after several days, but without the trembling and cold body. I took his temperature; it was between 100 and 101, so basically normal. I took him to another vet hoping for a diagnosis, but again no diagnosis offered. These symptoms have now occurred again on Dec. 17 - Dec. 18. PLEASE HELP. We are exhausted and don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn I have 2 dogs the maltese and a terrier mix. The Maltese is paper trained but when he goes outside he eats the teriers poop. What could be wrong? Any ideas?
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar m tn My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
1727909 tn?1314845210 I'm having gallbladder pain and symptoms- has anyone gained weight after the surgery? And what is it about GB removal that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn Last year was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Am again suffering from similiar symptoms. Hospital told me not to eat till I saw family doctor. He told me not to eat for 3 days, drink water only. Symptoms got better starting eating carbs after that. 8months later and similiar symptoms, fatigue, bloating. Shall I assume the liquid diet for a few days? Not sure what the doctor or hospital will do other than tell me that and don't want to waste 12 hours in the ER again, let alone the cost.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar n tn I had my first attack of acute pancreatitis last week. It was a mild attack. I spent a couple of days in the hospital on IV. I'm feeling much better and haven't had another painful attack. However, I still seem to have soreness on my left side, but not in the same location as the pancreatitis pain. My stomach is also still bloated. My attack was 5 days ago. My question is; is it normal to have some residual soreness after acute pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pancreatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20360227 It's my understanding that sometimes in severe scaring cases they will do surgery or use nerve blocks to help. But more information would be beneficial for more discussion.
