Avatar n tn The pain mgmt Dr did an EMG in Feb and it showed degenerative disc disease (which I knew I had), nerve root compression and neuropathy. So now he has ordered a myelogram. He said that the pinched nerve is new and he wants to find out how severe it is. He said it is one level up from my previous surgeries of S1-L4-L5. I had a myelogram several years ago and had a severe reaction to it and was hospitalized for 6 days because of it.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the in's and out's of the pain mgmt rules? I am going back mon for my third visit and still hurting! I have taken all my meds. Will they kick me off the program? I mean its obvious that loritab 10 isn't working for me! Will I get a third chance? I also had surgery a week ago! Do you think that he might take that into consideration?
Avatar m tn I was released from pain mgmt after being warned once. However this time I did not know that the tylenol bottle was something different. Mind you my appointment was till the 19th of the month and the receptionst caleed and ask if I wanted to come on the 5th bc she didn't know if the dr would b back in time. I did have enough meds to get me thru and if I would've known I was taking something other than what the dr gave me I would've waited but.

519661 tn?1264516208 had to sign one with my pain mgmt dr. as well as with my neurologist (whom i went to before finding the pain mgmt dr.)....had to sign it, agree to use only ONE pharmacy as well, for any meds prescribed, didn't matter if something happened during the month (e.g., i lost them, they were stolen, accidentally dropped down the drain, eaten by the dog, whatever, didn't matter....still wouldn't refill prescription until my 30 days were up)....
363110 tn?1340920419 During this last pregnancy I was referred to Pain MGMT (I had been on Norco and Soma prior to my pregnancy and it did help my pain but the Soma made me have bad side effects) . Pain mgmt however is NOT willing to do further imaging studies to pinpoint my pain.
1855295 tn?1327536700 I had a wonderful Pain Mgmt doc in NY -- a pain NL at the Headache Clinic at Columbia Presbyterian. Nothing against him, but I didn't get much relief. This was after numerous med changes and Occipital Nerve Block injections (which only gave sweet relief for 36 hours). I think the best thing I learned was that he told me that he was "throwing medication at a mechanical problem" which "may or may not work". Hope this info is helpful...sorry your appt.
1128643 tn?1262483649 she tried several different therapies before I was diagnosed (pills, lupron, depo provera etc.) If I go to pain mgmt...where else is there to go but a lifetime of pain meds (and ulcers developing because of them)? I use heat often (almost every day) along with vicoprofen. I'm feeling frustrated & a bit depressed today. There don't seem to be many female pain mgmt drs. in NYC either. Thanks for letting me vent. This seems like a good community.
Avatar f tn in that practice would prescribe me pain meds until she gets back. The reason I asked about pain mgmt is because my dr said pain mgmt dr would probably prescribe stronger meds & ive read all the horror stories about oxycontin or morphine but then the pain hits and @ the time i think who cares what it is if it will make the pain stop!
Avatar f tn would anything other then pancreatitis cause epigastric pain that radiates to the back?,,,that comes and goes. i get it,but i dont get the throwing up,or the hospital visits i hear about from pancreatitis. i have not lost weight, dont throw up,the pain feels like a cramp in my diahpram, goes into back,,ive had amalyes/lipase checked,2 ct scans with barrium and iodine contrast, and they dont see anything,,,no stones, enlargments, hernia, nothingwhat elce could this be? would spyincter of oddi do this?
229538 tn?1300377767 Is she on pain meds? sounds like pancreatitis is quite painful and its a good idea to use pain control to promote healing. for long term pain control the most recommended opiate is BUPRENEX or TRAMADOL for cats. good pain control would also make her feel more like eating, but on the other hand loss of appetite can be a side effect of some of the medications...so need good Vet advice there. Are you assist feeding her? If she is not eating well, hepatic lipidosis is a very serious worry.
Avatar f tn In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar f tn Am in pain mgmt, awaiting surgery 22nd. I went to ER with a new problem, she gave me 10 oxycodone pills. I discussed with her my pain mgmt doctor (she knows him), and what pills I was on. I am shocked the doc prescribed these meds knowing full well I was seeing this pain mgmt doctor! I assumed it was all legal. Doc said I broke the contract, so what do I do now, wait for the certified letter?
Avatar f tn I myself have been going through this pain. I just spent 6 days in the hospital with what they called panreatitis. I have the same pain it sounds like that ya'll have had. I had my gallbladder out in 1998 and have IBS and hyatial hernia and acid reflux. Now I am having to deal with this. I am also told that I am going to have to get the ERCP done because gallstones may be creating the problem. Also a big thing! CT Scans and MRI's do Not always show stones.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to do a blood test for amylase & lipase levels.
Avatar n tn A sphincterotomy was performed at this time (Sphincter of Oddi). At my 2 week surgical follow-up I had no pain whatsoever. Pain in the right upper quadrant developed within the next few weeks. I have now had the pain every day for over 4 months. It is not horrible, but it is annoying and distracting and diminishes my quality of life with my two little girls. The pain is sometimes burning, just under my rib cage. Sometimes it feels as if something is poking or stabbing me from deep inside.
Avatar f tn Anyone else out there suffering from Chronic (and acute) pancreatitis and/or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction? Would love to chat about how to manage these disorders.
Avatar n tn Can the medicine Zanaflex cause Pancreatitis? I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
Avatar n tn Does the duct dilatation set off an inflamation of the liver and pancreas and cause the pancreatitis pain? Also can the duct dilatation heal on its own in time? I have no desire to undergo an ERCP as I've heard such nightmare stories from people who have undergone but yet I'm so tired of not feeling good and having pain and just would like to feel good again. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn I do not understand how I can be in so much pain every day yet no test shows abnormalities where the pain is. I know that the pain is not in my head, to me the pain is coming from my pancreas and liver (I feel 99.9 % sure it is the source of my pain) but yet no test comes back abnormal. I have had my gallbladder removed also and it has not helped the pain all it has done it give me permanent diarrhea (which I take Librax for to slow ny bowels down which does help).
1823499 tn?1370090289 I had an increase in pain for about two months, then it was back to my baseline. Just like the pain mgmt clinic told me, the pain was the same off and on pain meds in the long run. Apparently your body adapts to long term pain meds and they don't do much after a while. Good luck!
Avatar n tn My 35 years old son had an upper stomach pain for 2 weeks and then a bruise showed up in the Upper left stomach side? upper stomach pain plus a bruise? what possible situation could be?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been sick since Friday. I'm having lots of pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea but lately my lipase and amylase levels have been low. The doctor said my pancreas is sluggish and work like it should and this is why my blood levels are normal. Can anyone tell me if exocrine pancreatic insufficiency affects lipase and amylase levels during a pancreatitis flare up? Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
