Common Questions and Answers about Pain neck down left arm

I keep having a sharp pain that runs down the BACK of my left arm. I went to my doctor and he gave me a EKG and a stress test and everything came back normal. He said, he had no idea what was causing this pain. I don't have it all the time, it comes and goes. I could be sitting watching TV and get it. I even got it while I was having the EKG and nothing showed up. Any ideas what could be causing this pain ? When I first got it I thought I was having a heart attack, but the doctor said, no.
I have had constant pain in my left shoulder radiating down arm into my thumb and next two fingers. This feeling is like a throbbing sensation, really deep dull pain then into pins and needle in the fingers. I am taking Mobic in the morning and Codalgin every 4 hrs to relieve the pain. It is significantly worse at night while I am try to sleep. I have had it for 2 months. Chiropractic treatment worked for a while (entrapped nerves in the scalene muscle).
We've seen a sports medicine physician and a physical theropist who believe this to be nerve damage because after much time the pain, very intense pain can only be described as her neck, shoulder and down her arm. It is a stabbing shooting pain that feels like 'electricity' through the affected area. The PCP has no prescribed Gabapentin for nerve pain but so far hasn't worked well. We are at a loss because the PCP has all but given up.

About a month ago I began having excruciating pain in my left breast with swelling and itching. The pain radiated into my arm pit and down my arm. Then I began to have pain in my neck and found many swollen nodules under my jaw bone and one, somewhat large nodule, just above my collar bone. After a mammogram and US, they found a 2cm highly dense mass at 1 o'clock. Highly suspcious of malignancy. I had a FNA and a US guide core biopsy.
I have had constant aching on my neck, left upper arm and tingling all the way down to my fingers. In 1996 I was told I had a bulging C-5 disk and the options were either surgery or non-invasive treatment. Needless to say I chose the latter and for the last 12 years accupuncture has helped me alleviate the pain and live confortably. Now it has come back and even with some accupuncture it has not eased.

Ive had an MRI and these are the findings. from C4 down to C7 multi-level degenerative disc disease is present with multi-level posterior disc protusions with accompanying osteophyte formation which results in bilateral foraminal narrowing and indentation of the thecal sac at the disc levels from C4 down to C7.

I lifted a couple of 60 lb bags of cement mix so I think that's was the cause. the pain seems to be lasting a long time now, over 2 weeks. it's painful to turn my head to the right or stretch my neck from side to side. the pain seems to be in the area of the trap muscle and is also in the shoulder and move down the arm.

I had a gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago, since then, I have been experiencing a sharp pain on my left arm that goes to my neck all the way down to my hand. the pain comes and goes. After going to therapy my pain began to worsen and hurt in the back of my neck next to my spinal cord which then had pain radiating down my left arm and left chest. If I barely touch that area on my neck I cause the pain to become very sharp in those affected areas, the pain in my neck is unbearable and feels almost like bone on bone rubbing. I was wondering if this was a possible pinch nerve, cervical slipped disc or just a muscle sprain?

My elbow kills but most of all the burning sensation on heart burn. It is very strange and I can't seem to figure out what is going on. When I told my dr. she told me I had tennis elbow. But it still doesn't seem to answer the question of why I have the heart burn feel and the tention in my neck and shoulder.
for the pain feels like it is coming from the left side of my back close to the C6 or C7 (i think, I don't know too much about this so I may be off). The pain can be felt all the way down my left arm. My wife woke up one morning and felt pain in her neck, on a wednesday, by the next wednesday she had pain in her shoulders and pain shooting down her left arm, when this would happen the left hand and fingers would go numb for a few minutes, by friday she was crying when ever she was awake with pain and the symtoms had spread to her right arm pain and numbness, and right side of her face, and worse than migraine headaches,(comparing to having ten kids at once).
Starting this past weekend, I've been experiencing sharp pounding pain right behind my left ear running down my neck into my left arm. When this was happening I had a hard time with my vision, along with coherency. I don't want to see my PA, I do not believe she will do anything to help me. The unfortuante part is that I am in the military and have to go through certain obstacles to even see a real MD instead of a PA. I'm I being a hypercondriac? Is this all just an illusion in my head?
