i have a blood filled cyst i found out today--besides ibuprofin 3 times a day what can i do to alleiviate some of pain? And is this an early sign of ovarian cancer or are people freaking me out????
Cysts associated with endometriosis are more likely to lead to some type of bloody discharge or cysts that have blood filled sections. I don't think bleeding occurs in all cases. It could also be menstrual flow that is affected by ovary activity and the effect cysts have on hormone levels.
I had a hysterectomy 6 months ago after a csection & tubal. I was left w/ just my left ovary due to massive uterine hemorrhage. for well over 3-4 months i have had terrible low back, pelvic, & abdominal pain. End of January a CT & US showed a 5 cm hemorrhagic complex cyst. Now with more pain US yesterday showed that complex cyst was down to about 2.
I've been dealing with ovarian cysts since 08-09.I was told I have chocolate cysts on my ovaries. I've tried the nuvaring as means to shrink the cysts and I was feeling better the only downside is I would continuously keep putting the nuvaring in and skipped periods. I've had pain on my right side, pain under my belly button, gas, bloated, constipation, back pain, heavy periods, tenderness near my c section cut and severe gas and gas pains can't have a bowel movement w/o a laxative.
A week later I was still in massive pain that was radiating to my pelvis and my legs. I had blood work, urine cultures, an ultra sound, t/v us, and a CT scan and it showed I had a dermoid on my ovary. The whole time I had blood in my urine and ended up passing three kidney stones. I know there isn't any real advice in there, but I felt very similar to you so at least you aren't alone. I don't know if the size of your cyst can lead to that much pain.
Another possibility to look at would be your appendix, unless you have already gotten it out. Fibroids and ovarian cysts can cause a lot of pain. I would talk to your doctor about your concerns, but it does sound like it is the fibroid and cysts.

Cysts can get rather large and still not be cancer. And, no matter what any doc says, cysts can cause pain. I'll be thinking of you all, and keep in touch.
My 1/2 sister died of breat cancer at the age of 31, 10 years ago. Does leg pain go with the cysts or cancer? Does anyone know? I keep asking what is causing this pain. The drs. aren't sure. Any help would be great.
I recently was seen in the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and blood mixed with bowel movement. I was released and was instructed to see another doctor. I have undergone a battery of test with a doctor specializing in internal medicine. He clearly thought this was a GI issue. After a CT scan of the pelvic area it revealed possible hemorraging bleeding cyst on my right ovary and I have enlarge fibrods.
When I went back for a consultation with my gyno she put me on birth control and said to wait 3 to 5 months and if the pain was unbearable we would discuss surgery. It has been 6 weeks and the pain seems to just get worse and move all around. I have pain on my right side (upper and lower abdomen) and horrible pain in my back and right leg. I am worried that the cysts might be getting bigger, or there is something else wrong like appendix, gallbladder, etc.
I started to get my period almost every 10 days, give or take a couple and it lasts longer than usual. I have low back pain, leg and hip pain, and groin pain in my left groin. I am bloated and I get fairly bad abdominal pain and/or indigestion. I also have been going between diarrhea and constipation. And I have to urinate a lot. I've also been having a little shortness of breath, which seems to show up after I have eaten an then feel more bloated than before I have eaten.
The only way to diagnose cancer is to operate and do a biopsy. The vast majority of ovarian cysts are benign, and it could be caused by your endometrosis. Your physicain waiting 2 months and repeating is within recommendations. Cysts can and do decrease in size. If the tumor changes in size go to a Gyn/Onc for surgery.
Did they say how large the cyst is? It might be going away on its own. Are you in pain? (cysts that rupture hurt terribly!) It's hard to say what is going on without more info and until a gyn examines you. Maybe the gyn will run a CA-125 blood test (ovarian cancer marker test) to see if the result shows an elevated number (0-35 is the normal range), but that's not a reliable diagnostic test...
In January of 2009, i had emergency surgery for an ovarian cysts on my right ovary. Apparently the cyst was 5 inches and twisted around my ovary. After the surgery, i had no pain up until June of that year. I had many ultrasounds done that confirmed i had small cysts. In April of 2010, i had laproscopic surgery to have a look to see what was going on. The doctor told me after that my ovary had dropped down due to a cyst and that my right tube was blocked.
So, I meet a really wonderful man and when we had sex it was very painful and the bloating, cramping and pain afterward lasted for days, so I go to my OB and they find an ovarian cyst on each ovary. They said "Let's watch it over the course of a few months and see if it goes away on its own or bursts". I agree that's probably fine to do, but I just can't handle intercourse and it's becoming a real strain on this very new relationship.
I am 50 years old and have been diagnosed with multiple ovarian cysts on both ovaries that were left after a hysterectomy 3 years ago because of excess fibroids. I have had a cat scan in Oct. 06 and then a vus every 3 months after and they have multiplied and have daughter cysts attached to them. You can't even see my ovaries because of so many cysts. My doctor said some have septations in them and are now complex. He wants to remove my ovaries next month.
I am wondering if we should be alarmed and if the blood filled ruptured cyst means ovarian cancer, and whether because it ruptured the blood would have affected other areas with cancer cells. Im truly so sorry for the lengthy message but I wanted to give you enough info on Tracie and I couldn't do it shorter. Thank you so so much and I shall anxiously wait for your reply.
suggested that this is multiple cysts. I have absolutely no pain in that area. I have been a little concerned about bloating in my upper stomach area, but I attributed that to weight gain. I am 67 years old, and have had regular routine physicals every year, without fail. This past year, I had the works. Nothing has ever shown up. To say the least, I am very anxious about whats going on with me. I have a CT scheduled for this week, and a scheduled appointment with a specialist.
in the meantime, she ordered the CA125, which I knew from the summer was the ovarian cancer blood test; I'm very anxious by nature, so my friends are trying to re-assure me that it's simply standard procedure to do these tests, but everyone agrees the waiting is very, very difficult.
.Hi I'm 32 and was diganosed with ovarian cysts years ago, my problem is I've been really sick for @ 2 yrs and recently went to ER because I was so sick I couldn't move, that's where they found a 5-6 cm cysts growing. I switched Dr. last year because it just seemed that she wanted to put me on pills that didn't produce periods. I havn't had a period in 2 yrs and my symptoms are horrible.
A couple of months ago I developed severe pain and discovered I had developed 3 cysts on my right ovary - 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm and 3.3 cm and one 4.0 cm on my left. During my followup ultra sound it is discovered that now - not in addition to, have one functional cyst on my left ovary about 15 mm that depics blood tissue as well and one complex cyst on my right ovary that is 15 mm that is suspicous. The doctor has recommended that the ovary be removed. They did a CA125 and the value was 12.
also read of so many stories of people who have ovarian cysts which scans dont pick up and therefore |Drs ignore their symtpons.
