osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn Does anyone have osteoarthritis and bone spurs? How fast do bone spurs grow? Do they grow on the base of the thumb? I have a lump that is hard (and hurts if I press on it) and about the size of a small pea, that was not there in September. In under 2 months this lump grew, and I want to know if it could it be a bone spur, or a rheumatoid nodule. (I have "diffuse osteoarthritis" in my joints and spine) and I am only 58. Does osteoarthritis manifest like this?
Avatar m tn Hi there. Bone spurs are common in spine due to osteoarthritis, resulting from chronic pulling of ligaments over long time. Usually spurs form at facet joints, causing back or neck pain due to inflammation of facet joints and nerve irritation. EMG, NCV to exclude peripheral nerve compression, xray spine for arthritic changes and bone spur CT / MRI if any missed details on x rays.
326947 tn?1252591233 He said that I had so many bone spurs in the femur that he was surprised that I could bare weight at all. He did say that the osteoarthritis was a big factor in getting bone spurs. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Osteophytes, also known as bone spurs,[1] are bony projections that usually form along joints.[2] see website below for more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteophyte Yes it can be a result of injury.
Avatar n tn Osteophytes is the medical term for the overgrowth of bone tissue more commonly called ‘bone spurs’. Despite the term ‘spur’, osteophytes are actually small round lumps of extra bone that grow around joints. Osteophytes are the body’s attempt to compensate for existing bone and ligament degeneration due to age or injury. Unfortunately, the body’s attempt to heal itself this way is unsuccessful.
Avatar m tn Bone spurs are little bones that grow out of the normal bone, this why they are called bone spurs. These then press on nerves and cause aggravation and pain. This is typical of osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that causes stiffness and pain in the joints. Osteoarthritis involves growth of bone spurs and degeneration of cartilage at a joint. It is very common in adults older than 45 and can cause joint pain. Joint pain may also be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the bursae). The bursae are fluid-filled sacs that cushion and pad bony prominences, allowing muscles and tendons to move freely over the bone.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?

Avatar f tn Update, i forgot to mention that I have mid to severe deteriorating bone and disc disease in L2 L3 L4 L5 discs.
Avatar n tn A Bone Scan was ordered and shows very little other than osteoarthritis and a couple of bone spurs. X-Rays followed shortly after and confirmed osteoarthritis and bone spurs but obvious evidence of metastic cancer. TRUS needle biopsy with 7 cores produced the Gleason Score of 9. More blood tests and an abdominal CAT Scan was ordered last friday(still waiting on results of that). My urologist has said I have cancer but is not very forthcoming on details just yet. What's going on?
Avatar n tn I specifically asked this new doc if he saw any disc or bone spurs at that level and he said no. Lab work for RA was all negative. Has anyone had a similar experience???
1678656 tn?1369233818 ) Is gout something that is recurring? I also searched bone spurs and osteoarthritis. A friend of mine, also with MS, has some form of arthritis, but I cannot remember what type. It seems that she said it was osteo--but my memory fails me. Currently, I'm relying on my mother in law to get me to my appointments so I have been trying to figure it out so I know what to mention to my dr. by the time I'm able to get to see her. Just so many things out there that it could be anything.
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? Bone spurs or osteophytes formation happens due to certain conditions like age, life style changes, abnormal posture etc. In these conditions the bone in the spinal cord enlarges causing neck and back pain. Laser surgery can be used to treat radiculopathy or nerve entrapment syndromes caused due to these bone spurs. Laser surgery is minimally invasive, with less blood loss and small incision and early recovery. Consult a neurosurgeon for further advise on this. Best.
Avatar f tn I have arthritis in most of my joints, but I have more than one type of arthritis too. If you are looking for symptoms of osteoarthritis in the neck, they include pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, tingling or soarness in the arms, headaches and even balance problems.
Avatar m tn Can age of an injury be determined by bone spurs? If so, what kind of doctor would you see for this?
Avatar m tn I hope you can help me with this issue, I had surgery for "bone spurs" on my left elbow at the end of february 08. I am a (was) a really keen and weight lifter and lifted what most people consider heavy weights. I had the procedure as my extension on the left arm was becoming limited. I wanted the procedure to be able to straighten my arm so I could perform better in the gym.
Avatar f tn While some of what you describes sounds more like OA (pain in joints on one side is usually osteoarthritis) but with your other symptoms and the widespread pain on one side of your body, this is definitely worthy of investigation.
Avatar f tn brain mri came back normal neck one showed bone spurs. Have put symptoms down to bone spurs, but pain getting worse and staying longer. Feel like have alot of symptoms of ms, left face tingling, headaches, left side arm leg tingling and numb, right arm tingling, crawling skin, muscle spasms, tirdness, suffer from depression so on invalids benefit (depression manily due to feeling so yuk) Can't remember things like peoples names and go blank for things I should know.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am sorry you feel so bad. I have a lot of similar problems, and I've been getting the run around from all the doctors also. I thought I had Rheumatoid Arthritis, but the blood test is negative, so they say osteoarthritis and spinal degeneration. I have bad joint pain in both knees, hands and my fingers, neck with herniated discs, bone spurs in feet, carpal tunnel, elbow tendonitis (at least they say that's what it is), you name it.
527589 tn?1301678178 The symptoms of numbness, tingling, swallowing difficulty, brain fog, vertigo, weakness of muscles, muscle twitching, jerking, cold extremities and symptoms getting worse in sun are all characteristic features of Multiple sclerosis. Since you have bone spurs, osteoarthritis and cervical stenosis, the symptoms are being aggravated. Please get an MRI of the brain. In fact you may need a series of MRI to diagnose to rule out MS.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your time..the other comment was for the othee person :) but similar situations ...I feel like there must be more to my situation due to the mild emphasis on my bone spurs being"tiny"andthe "mild effect onthe c6 nerve root"as specified in the report on my mri..I'm just so...tired of the unknown ...and my symptoms being so similar to both ms and bone spurs /disk problems...happy new year to you..
1467506 tn?1286413017 48 year old female with Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis: I had surgery on my foot 2 months ago to remove a bone spur on the top of my foot. I also had a toe (second toe, next to great toe) that was affected by separate pain and had completely turned crooked. The top of my foot - where the spur was removed is still very sore and painful if I wear shoes that tie or walk for any distance. The entire foot feels cramped as well.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthirtis in my low back, with bone spurs as well. In my research I read that bike riding is okay because you lean forward which takes pressure off the arthritis. The best person to ask about that would be your Physical Therapist. They can determine what level of activity is best for you based off your personal synptoms. Good Luck! D.
