It's not uncommon for people with GERD to present with asthma-like symptoms. Acid gets into the lungs, causes inflammation and even spasms, and voila! Asthma-like issues. A hiatal hernia, unless is HUGE, doesn't do much in the way of preventing the lungs to expand. However, since a hiatal hernia that's "up" causes the LES to stop working by displacing the mechanism, it would make it very easy for acid to splash up.
If the docs say it's not asthma, it's not.

Went to the doctor, he thought maybe it was a vitamin deficiency since I was on a very high dose of Omeprazole. (80 mg a day to be exact.) After that appointment, I started weaning myself off the Omeprazole and for the last month I've been completely off of it. As time went on, the tingling would morph to new locations...at times, when my stress levels were really low, I didn't feel any tingles...so I thought that maybe it was anxiety related.

PPIs are so effective they have tons of known interactions with different mechanisms of action (e.g., extended release drugs can get messed up; increased bioavailability can raise levels of high toxicity meds (like colchicine) to a concerning degree). To answer your question, my lipids are very well controlled at 10mg dose. I don’t want to take omeprazole, as I sometimes do, if the interaction lowered bioavailability.

I've went to the doctor. He said it s GERD from the symptoms I'd described to help m. He check my throat by looking at the back of it with his light. He prescribed me Omeprazole 20mg. Also every once n awhile I cough up tonsils stones. Idk.....hope its not cancerous. Hope it's something that can be cured!!!

Here it is January 2014 and I am pretty sure I have one of the possible side affects of taking omeprazole, severe itchy skin. Twice in the last month I stopped taking it for a few days and believe I even had a withdrawal side affect. This was when I was just falling to sleep it felt like I could not breath. The first time I went to the ER and had various test performed which all came back negative. The second time occurred about 4 days ago when I stopped taking omeprazole again.
instead of one omeprazole once or twice a week, I needed to take it every other day. Since the SVT was diagnosed, I've had to begin taking omeprazole daily (usually shortly before dinner). Also, sometimes when the palpitations occur, I also feel a distinct stiffness in my throat--not a swelling in which my breathing is obstructed, but a stiffness that lasts for an hour or longer. My question is this: are there any connections possible between SVT and stomach issues?
