Drugs like omeprazole, pantoprazole etc are prescribed for 4- 6 weeks. Other rare possibility is round worm infestation, commonly seen in developing world. Thsi condition is diagnosed by stool test and drugs like albendazole are prescribed (single dose suffcient).

Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it.
