Mixing methadone and vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Mixing methadone and vicodin

methadose

Just a question.. As you know.. I've been worried about my dear friend who was recently put on Methadone for their opiate addiction... and... I just found out that they are taking vicodin again... So my question is...can you take vicodin and Methadone together? They "seemed" a little 'looped' the last time I talked to them and they DID admit to taking the vicodin again...(I didn't ask if they were still on the Methadone) Just worried and VERY concerned...
About mixing methadone and klonopins.....well here is my story...... i was on meth, and buying klonopin 2mgs.... well one day , actually night i took like 8 or 10mgs. of them. The next day on my way to the meth clinic i was fine. After i took my 85mgs (at the time) dose, well no later than 10 minutes went buy and i knew i was about to black out. I had to drive 20 minutes to the clinic. so i stopped at a friends in the area to do some coke to wake me up....yeah...i know....
I would strongly recommend to not turn to methadone!! If you are addicted to vicodin, methadone is MUCH stronger and A LOT harder to come down off of. Myself and my girlfriend had been taking methadone for the last year now, my 20-40 mgs and her 160-240 mgs a day and it is hell. Its been 5 days now since we have had any and it is not easy, easier for me then her. She is having a hard time coming off that high of a dose. We have been mixing in oxys here n there so we can get to work and servive.
It may be a viable option if you were hooked on hard drugs other than vicodin. Methadone is a treatment of last resort and a replacement therapy for the toughest cases with muliple treatment failures. At least that's the way it started out before they started giving it to lighter addicts like young pill abusers. I was on and off it for years and it was good for me for the first 2 years and after that it was a disaster.
How could i feel alone, he calls constantly (collect!) lol! He is addicted to methadone and oxys, and he is determined to detox in 5-days. I don't see how it's possible. The dr wanted to do it in 9-days, but he wants them out of his system asap, the fastest they are out, the more time he has to heal in the 28-days. he feel apart when i told him that our 8-year old said 'hi' to him as if he were still here. She was playing, but they miss him very much. i was sorry i told him that.
The only drugs i know that she does now is her xanax, daily and who knows how much really, and methadone...I lover her dearly...I myself do not do drugs...except an occasional xanax when i am stressed to the hilt...But i know what it is like to support a drug addict, to see the withdrawals, to be there through thick and thin...I know she will probably never be clean, but at least the shoplifting and most of the hustling has stopped...
There are periods where I use narcotics about a 4-6 weeks (vicodin and lately oxycontin) then I have to stop and it is so shattering. Many years ago I tried NA and it doesn't work for me. I also do not want to be put on shrink meds by a psychiatrist. What am I doing to myself medically? Because of life circumstances I don't see myself being able to stop soon. What is happening and what can I do?
I have started taking Methadone on occasion. This morning I took a 10mg Methadone and this evening I took 3 10mg Hydrocodones. I am experiencing a ton of breathing problems now. Does anybody know if this is a bad mix. I was taking 10-15 10mg vicodin a day. I know it has to be tearing up my liver. Does anyone else have a problem like this?
I have to agree in that I am floored, absolutely floored, that they would put you methadone. Methadone is definitely not the answer and really a very last resort. vicodin withdrawal is much less severe than methadone withdrawal. Please talk to your doctor. you are much safer tapering off the vicodin or even cold turkey off vicodin then starting methadone. Start the Amino Acid recipe (located on this forum in the health pages)..
They especially won't help you after you get off except to beckon you back for more of the same. These days we have vicodin addicts who are now hooked for life on methadone and that's a real shame. Too many people are on methadone who never should have been let on and the clinic system is broken and has turned into a monster. I feel bad for addicts who never have been criminally inclined because they have to walk the guantlet everyday through Ali Baba and the 40 thieves.
I have been on methadone for 9 years at 150mg a day and have a VERY successful career, life and family. I chose methadone because at the time I decided to get off heroin and pills I was a single mother of a young child, and could not possibly lay sick. That child is now 16 and has had a wonderful life (including being an accomplished equestrian). Methadone HAS to be used in conjuction with a program and used PROPERLY. A stable dose is a MUST.
I'm in my 6th mo on Methadone at 130mg and I sleep and nod all day and go home and sleep all night and I am not using other meds. I know my dose is to high causing this and i am lowering it now. Does your b/f have any trouble speaking when he looks pie eyed. When I took to much soma it affected my speech and I would stumble around some. Make sure you get more than 2 or 3 words out of him and see how it sounds. If he is using lets get him back to the good person he was and not hang him here.
Well, to my surprise, I actually got a little tipsy on 10 mgs. of methadone and 2 vicodin. Moreso than the 8-10 10 mg. vicodin I had been taking. So, I am sitting here wondering, is my tolerance really okay after all these years? I mean, some of the people that have come on here with meth.maintanence are starting out at 60mgs +! If I had popped that today, I would have been laid out, and I've been going through the Hydrocodone like water. So I'm at a bit of a loss here. Spook? Doc Dan?
I have very bad teeth and can not afford to go to the dentist except when it gets so bad I half to get it pulled and go get help from an org.
I hate to be contrary once again but 1) Ultram is not listed anywhere as a narcotic drug. 2) It is not a controlled substance 3) Online purchace of ultram is not in a grey area, it is perfectly legal. 4) The offical stand on ultram is that it is only addictive in persons with a history of addiction (us) 5) Ultram is in fact being used to detox people from opiated drugs. Mariposa does bring up an excellen point of which I have already warned you about.
I've been taking 30 vicodin HPs a week for a year now, but I am still suffering and I am finding it difficult to concentrate after taking vicodin. I want to stop taking vicodin before I become more dependant on it than I already am. My Dr. has suggested switching to Ultram in the past. Some pharmacist say that Ultram is addictive while others say it is not. Before I switch to another medication I would like to know what I am getting myself into. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
your medication check has detected interactions involving METHADONE and LORAZEPAM, and identified at least one medication with an orange risk rating. This means you may require closer monitoring of your medications in order to reduce your risk of serious side-effects (click on each drug for more details).
She even went on antidepressents to help, but when she went down only 3 mg, she was freaking out and decided to go back up. Then she found a website about methadone and the people in the forum there promote staying on it forever. They actually compare methadone to insulin, and when people go there asking questions about detoxing they get angry at calling it "detoxing" ("you wouldn't detox from insulin would you?") and they give the person reasons to stay on it.
there is power in prayer......go to JESUS!!!!!! there is nothing he cant do.......TRUST ME.
I am also concerned about the Furosemide and Mixing it with the excessive amounts vicodin and the health risks. I know that the success rate of stopping the addiction is very low especially with out help. The other thing is that his stressers or triggers have not changed. I do not know if I should tell his business partner who has no idea of the risks he may be in. We had kept it a secret. No one has any idea he could have this problem. I am very concerned and scared for him.
He has never returned to work and has been on everything from vicodin, oxicontin, morphine and of course methadone. As much as 20 pills a day mixing everything as the doctors reccomended and still never taking the full amount. 7 months ago he decided he had all he could take and has kicked everything but the final monster seems to be the inability to get off the methadone. He can't get under 20 mgs.
Have you ever withdrawn from heroin? I have gone through heroin, methadone, and vicodin withdrawals, and trust me heroin and methadone are far worse to withdraw from. Just because doctors prescribe something to help with opiate recovery, does not mean it is the correct solution. you neglect to mention the role of economics in this.
that aside DO NOT GET ON METHADONE!!!!!!!! I was on hydrocodone and was put on methadone because i started ......well, was abusing it. I was on it for pain. works gr8 for the pain but very, very addictive. The wd's from the methadone are much worse than that of most others. PLEASE take THE ADVICE HEAR and STAY AWAY FROM THE METHADONE. .........
I started on methadone because the vicodin and Percocet no longer worked...little did I know that my tolerance had increased so much to those drugs that the pain I was having was withdrawal pain! I realize that now but didn't then. Wish I had though. and I had no education on the drug whatsoever...I was just given a script for it and told to take it...and I did..like an idiot. I mean, when I go to the store for something OTC I read damn near the whole box before I purchase it...
My husband just detoxed from methadone and oxys, and they used phenobarbital, and klonopin (i think), and a mild muscle relaxer for the cramps. He was off of everything in 5-days. your boyfriend needs a good program, preferably a 28-day program that is able to handle methadone addiction, because he can be a tricking one. If his dose is higher than 40 mg, you will have a hard time finding a rehab that will even take him prior to a hospital visit.
I noticed many ended up addicted to the new drug that they started taking, to help them and wound up having more problems. and as for the replacement drugs like methadone and others......, it was a worse nightmare for me, got me even more addicted, and resulted in a much longer WD's. nor do they ever let the brains receptors and endorphins ever return to normal. what good is that?? I have gone major CT straight and tapering, all while having to work which really bites bad.
I never have had any kind of pain that advil won't help but I was introduced to vicodin and valium through a friend and I thought it was a miracle for my anxiety, I could finally talk to people and the racing thoughts finally stopped! Some miracle, now I am addicted. But I realize now that people who live in pain have more than just addiction issues to deal with, even if you stop, how do you live with the pain? I wish there was a way.
As far as the w/ds from methadone go.I would rather detox off of vicodin 5 times then methadone once. For me methadone detox was the hardest, most uncomfortable, longest period of discomfort in my life, both physically and mentally.
