I would wake up with my face in the keyboard at the computer, my husband would fall asleep driving. I started school for Medical Assistant and was proud of myself did excellent in school except for falling asleep in class a few times I would wake up to someone poking at me and everyone would be staring at me !
Avatar n tn Taking methadone for such a little amount of Vicodin is totally wrong, and you need a new Dr. Methadone is very dangerous, go read the journals in wait2long's profile, PLEASE. Best of luck to you. Please don't take the methadone.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking vicodin and had some methadone to help with withdrawal. I've taken methadone for about a week now and have just a couple left. I've taken 1.5 for a day or 2 and then 1.25 for 3 days. I have 1.25 left. My question is, will I have withdrawals from the vicodin even though it's been over a week since i've been off them or did the methadone just mask that withdrawal? Also, will I now have withdrawals from the methadone?
Avatar n tn I have heard the withdrawals from it are so much worse and the withdrawals from Vicodin were bad enough. I think your telling folks here to use methadone as a quick "cure" fro vicodin withdrawals is not only dangerous but stupid...just my not so humble opinion...
Avatar f tn I was discharged from the hospital at the end of Feb. My Doctor put me on methadone for the pain. The perscription is for one month 8 pills a day. 4 (10 mg) tablets in the morning and 4 (10 mg) tablets in the evening. My concern is addiction. I currently have a vicodin addiction, but since I've been on methadone I don't crave the vicodin and I haven't went through any withdraw symptoms. Can someone give me some insight to what the probability is to me becoming addicted to methadone.?
Avatar n tn I quit the vicodin 4 days ago. I was thinking maybe 10 mg (methadone) for 5 days then 5 and then 2.5. Am I fooling myself, or do you think it's possible? Please answer honestly. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Going from 4 vicodin a day to methadone or suboxone is like throwing gasoline on a fire. They are both very strong opiates and the withdrawals are a million times worse than what the withdrawals would be from vicodin. Have you tried tapering down on the vicodin? I tapered in the past and had little to no withdrawals. If you decide to go cold turkey you the withdrawal symptoms usually last around 5 days.
Avatar f tn s lives but for someone taking less than 30mgs of vicodin a day switching to methadone is absurd. Why not taper the vicodin? It can be tough tapering because it takes so much willpower. It will be just as hard tapering the methadone too. If you have problems tapering give the pills to someone else so they can dole them out to you. Like mentioned above, you need to talk to your OB. The doctors at the pain management may not be qualified to treat a pregnant woman.
Avatar f tn I have been on various opiates for over a year now, this last month I was prescribed diulodon and am always prescribed 5mg of methadone, long-short I abused my pills and went 2 days with a 750 vicodin every 4 hrs , didn't sleep over 2 days and except when I seemed to pass out and in min literally come to, where of course I would cry feeling clammy , depressed, and all around tortured.
Avatar m tn Hi there. I wanted to apologize because I felt I may be able to offer support and give you someone to relate to so I was way into my reply when I fell asleep. Which is super ironic sense I'm detoxing from methadone and no sleep is a huge issue. I'll attach what I did get done so I'm sorry if it's incomplete. Please feel free to message if you have questions or just need a friend. Hi and welcome. I'm so glad you posted and looked for support. That's a huge step.
Avatar n tn I have started taking Methadone on occasion. This morning I took a 10mg Methadone and this evening I took 3 10mg Hydrocodones. I am experiencing a ton of breathing problems now. Does anybody know if this is a bad mix. I was taking 10-15 10mg vicodin a day. I know it has to be tearing up my liver. Does anyone else have a problem like this?
Avatar f tn Hi Usertolong:) When I was on methadone I did a long and slow taper. I didn't have a bad withdrawal experience at all. I was a heroin user before so I like you worried about the detox being like that. I was taking methadone for pain at 30ml. I tapered long and slow over years and had no withdrawal symptoms. I also talked with my doctor she prescribed clonadine and nausea medication. My psychiatrist has me taking a antidepressant, mood stabilizer and a low dose benzo.
Avatar n tn m sorry that you ended up on methadone from vicodin. It was designed for hard core junkies with multiple treatment failures who were going in and out of istitutions . Since you are on it you can use it as a bridge to drug free but I hope you will keep your dose low (as it is) and keep your treatment short so you don't have hell to pay.
Avatar m tn I am wondering if once I stop taking the methadone if I will be ok and not get any withdrawals since I have not taken any vicodin and the methadone dose is very light?? Anyone with any advice please let me know..
Avatar f tn Please talk to your doctor. You are much safer tapering off the vicodin or even cold turkey off vicodin then starting methadone. Start the Amino Acid recipe (located on this forum in the health pages).. Lots of good vitamins and useful stuff to help through the withdrawal. There are also meds your doctor can prescribe to ease some of the vicodin w/drawal symptoms.. (something to help with sleep, clonidine - a blood pressure med which helps with the skin bumps and hot/cold flashes)..
Avatar f tn It seriously frustrates the he11 out of me that a methadone clinic would even accept somene with a Vicodin or Percocet habit. They're basically giving you a much stronger drug, with cheaper, easier, legal access. It's disgusting! And I'm sure the doctor or counselor didn't sit you down to explain to you how incredibly addicting it is!!! If you thought Vicodin w/d was bad...
Avatar f tn no i am tapering off of 20mg, i only went on short term for a long time opiate addiction tp vicodin. started out for pain, the vicodin, but then turned into a full on addiction for many years. i was trying to teper off the vicodin, big problem was my hubby is addictied to, so we fed into each other, not a good scene, i needed a change, desperately, i am in outpatient therapy, i go to NA/AA, i go to weekly therepy, and chemical dependancy therapy....
Avatar n tn Are you talking about the feeling that vicodin gives you?? Methadone is one of the strongest pain meds that there is. A vicodin isn't going to do anything but the methadone isn't blocking anything..also..if you think your Dr. is trying to teach you a lesson because you ran out of your meds before you were supposed to..then I would get a new DR. .. As far as a tapering schedule goes...In a methadone clinic, they would only suggest weaning around 2 mg's ata time and not every week..
Avatar f tn I don't believe that methadone or sub saves an adicts life, it's only a tool . I don't like to give drugs that much power but these meds are important. The methadone is a real joy killer. You need to lower the dose or maybe the doc can give you welbutrin which can really help. I was on street dope too and methadone did help me for a time and I'm not against it but it has to be used wisely.
317787 tn?1473358451 Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever (for mild-moderate pain) that increases the effects of hydrocodone. Vicodin is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Vicodin is over kill for body pains from hep C treatment. Vicodin should also not be used by patients with cirrhosis of the liver as it can cause serious complications.
Avatar f tn t know my options and went on to Methadone to quit the Vicodin. The Methadone treatment lasted 5 years!! For a one year problem it took 5 years to fix. It was so wonderful to be free from everything eventually. The Methadone was worse than the Vicodin. I stayed clean for years. Even was prescribed Percocet and used them as directed and was done. I had painkillers prescribed to me from Doctors and never touched them. Never filled the prescription.
Avatar n tn Most of the time depending on what mg your on of methadone it has a blocker so to speak not really cant think of another word that you never really feel you lortab when on methadone. I am on methadone an have been for 2 yrs now and when I first started methadone I ws still taking lortabs etc and I couldn't feel them unless I took a bunch like 15 or 20. Why did your doc want you to go on methadone w/lortab? Do you get it from a pcp doc> If you have any questions feel free message me.
