Both of these drugs can be very addictive and should be taken with extreme caution. My counselor expressed the dangers of benzos and done, I didn;t listen really until I seen my best buddy laying in a casket. FOR REAL.
Does the pyshcologist know about the methadone? I don't know much about what he's taking, other than I've taken Prozac and Ativan at the same time. I do know that it can be dangerous combining drugs and I'm really paranoid about that since the Heath Ledger tragedy. I personally think the doctor needs to be talked to about it...
Did your doctor prescribe you this? I have known some people who have taken medication issues into their own hands with really bad results, but if you are doing it under your doctor's orders (and he/she knows about your current medications and history) then I would follow what he/she says. Another good reference for questions is your pharmacist that fills your prescriptions....keep us posted!
When I went to the clinic (on methadone 4 years) there were people on both methadone and seraquel. So mixing them is ok for people that are prescribed it. But as kendrika said talk to your doctor forsure! And please tell us why are you on methadone? What dose? Did you start taking them together? Do you still take them together?
Yes, the drugs could be the cause. He needs to see a doctor TODAY! This is nothing to play with. Try to talk him into going today. Mixing stimulants and depressants isn't good....EVER! Mixing alcohol with pills, pot and uppers is dangerous too. He is a ticking time bomb, in my opinion. I hope he will get some help before it kills him.

I would NOT recommend (imo) mixing Ambien with anything, especially a benzo. Thats like playing russian roulette with your life. I know how you feel (really) but you're just going to ride this one out hun.
I just got off Norco after 5 years use (basically synthetic heroin, 33 days now) and couldn't sleep the first several days. That's just how it goes. You can try some natural sleep agents like melatonin, green tea, etc.
The first 10 days should be the hardest.

I will tell you that mixing methadone with other drugs you are abusing,especially benzos [the xanax] can be a fatal mixture and THAT could kill him.It's really not possible for us to tell you what his dose should be.If we knew what type of drugs and how much he was taking PRIOR to the methadone we may be able to give you an educated guess.The fact is though the dosage amount of the methadone is not really the issue here.
The Pharmacist told me it had to do a lot with c/ting the Benzo. I would take the Methadone with my other drug to get up and going like speed..Then the Benzo at night..DO NOT c/t the Benzo.
Are you trying to get off both or ALL??
Make sure you go and tell your Dr so they can give you the right advise on how to do this nice and easy..OK.
Life is so precious and to know it can end in just a matter of seconds. It is so scarey out there when mixing etoh, drugs, and more drugs. There are also the many people who take their own lives as they are so depressed, remorseful, unable to see the good in themseves, and not having any friends or family to confide in. Some will reach out but there are others that will joke around about their depression.
and just like kim said this can be a deadly combo both my phyc dr and my pain dr where consired when I first went on it that there could be problems with the 2....if I where you id warn my friend that mixing annthing with methadone is gambling with you life..and if your wrong you dont get a second chance...methadone is a very strong
narcotic and almost annthing including alcohol effects it so tread lightly...
U can tell when sumone is on methadone bc, for me, I was always nodding out at th most inappropiate times. Do u know for a fact she is going n every day to get methadone? How does she act when u can tell she's high? As addicts we r very sneaky and lie, alot! We don't care how we get drugs or how we get our high. The only thing that matters is our drug. I can't tell u y she had insulin maybe to use the syringe for the heroin?
