My Doctors just told me to take Monistat 3 or 5 over the counter instead of Diflucan. Just because it works faster. I didn't have any issues from it as far as I know. I am on antibiotics, Metronidazole, and I am planning to get a rapid HIV test soon. Does taking these antibiotics produce false results? I know the rapid test looks for antibodies produced to counter HIV, but would taking these antibiotics prevent the body from producing antibodies, thus creating a false negative result?

I'm not so sure that it is thrush. Thrush often has a cheesy looking discharge. A fishy smell and discharge suggests bacterial vaginosus (BV) which probably requires antibiotics such as metronidazole (Flagyl).
The douching is making it worse and you may have both thrush and BV.
You could try a thrush treatment ie Diflucan, Canesten or other antifungals.
Hello. Last week I began having symptoms of a yeast infection: vaginal itching, soreness during sex, and discharge like cottage cheese. I visited the doctor about 4 days after the symptoms started and she confirmed that it's yeast. I completed the Monistat 3 over the counter treatment, and the infection seemed to be clearing up after the second night. However, one day passed after finishing the product and the symptoms have begun again.
I think that I may have a bacterial or yeast infection. I took 2 over the counter vaginial screening kits and i also i feel a bit discomfort and my discharge is maybe a pale white..sort of watery and thick..It stated I had a bacterial infection. I believe I had it for some time now but never went to the doctor..but im planning on going soon as possible. I Just want to know what can I do to help with the discomfort or even to clear up in the meantime? I dont really smell anything..
I've experience bV for years and the best thing that works for me is using a mild soap(hypoallergelic), the water works natural douche and the vh essential product (vh essental.com) preferably the douch concentration & the bv inserts all over-the-counter products.
Can you see a doctor? You should get checked for an infection, especially if nothing you can purchase over the counter is working.
An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.

How are you? I think you have a condition called over active bladder which causes, urge to urinate frequently, urgency and urge incontinence.
The usual treatments for this condition are pelvic muscle strengthening exercises, behavioural therapy and medication( detrol la) etc. Also, if you are urinating very frequently check the amount of fluid intake, check blood sugars and get a urine analysis with culture done.
yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.
