The doctor told me I had bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection I think that's why she prescribed metronidazole and she also prescribed a cream (miconazole nitrate) I just wasn't sure if metronidazole was ok to take while pregnant. THANKS GIRLS!

I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!

Yea.. just speak to your doctor tomorrow and ask can you have fluconazole unit dose it's a one time use tablet to treat yeast... Aka fungal infections...

My question is, I think I have a yeast infection after taking metronidazole to treat BV. Is it safe for me to take Monistat without a doctor's diagnosis of a yeast infection? Pre-pregnancy I flushed with a small amount of boric acid...always got rid of it. Yeast and bv is simply a sign that your vaginal pH is off allowing growth of the wrong type of bacteria. I can't lie and said I didn't do it once or twice during pregnancy, but I don't know if it's recommended..although all my kids came out fine. I used to be able to purchase powdered boric acid at the pharmacy counter at Wal-Mart, walgreens, etc. ...

My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.

Like i said bv and yeast are an imbalance in your PH. Many women use monostate for yeast infections but if its out of control, maybe see your GYNO for help.

As for the yeast infection they have a pill called Flagyl its extermely potent and will kill the yeast infection. The monostat in my opinion don't help too much. Also my Dr told me its not recommended to have sex during BV and yeast infection . IT can be transmitted to your male partner if you use a condom and it breaks.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant my doctor prescribed me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel for a bacteria that I have, has anyone else taken this during a pregnancy ? I'm really scared I've read about women who've lost their baby by taking this gel I'm really scared I called my OB and I asked him if its safe for the baby and he said it is but I'm really concerned about this, its my first baby too. The nect week I got another yeast infection and it went away after a monistat application. I have another yeast infection rigvht now and have not had to take the acyclovir since last month. I'm wondering if i'm going to have a yeast infection every month now and how common this is for other people with similar situations as myself and how should i go about treating this? Will my body build up immunities to one dose over the counter inserts?

One week later I had my last visit with the fertility specialist (yep my babies were concieved via invitro) Ok so the doctor took some cultures and said its not bacterial vaginosis, its a common yeast infection (he prescribed monastat) so I took the monastat for 3 days as directed and still had the discharge (yellowish, brownish, slight odor and yuck) anyways went back to the regular doctor who says no way you had a yeast infection, it was BV.

i finished taking metronidazole 500mg for 7 days and then took a pill for yeast infection for one day cant remenber the name but a week after the npleasant smell is still her ..

I am very worried about my condition, my discharge is yellowish and comes wit skin tissue and its also an awful smell...sometime its itchy or swollen..i actuali took doxycyline,metronidazole and ciprotab and still theres no relief.

ve had Bacterial Vaginosis for more than a week (currently taking Metronidazole) and my discharge is greatly reduced but my perineum and tip of my anus are very swollen, itchy and white. I had watery foul smelling discharge last week I knew it was bv so I used the metronidazole vaginal gel but now I have white thick clumpy discharge no smell no pain and I'm 26 weeks pregnant. I havent had any prenatal care so i basically self diagnosed myself. How do I clear it up.

It could be from the yeast. Yeast is clumpy and flaky. The discharge could be irritating your vagina. This is what causes the itch as well. Please, call your doctor on Monday. Explain what is going on. Make sure you tell them what medication you were prescribed. Then go from there. They may tell you to come in. They may just prescribe you treatment for yeast.

Yeah sounds like a yeast infection I had those same symptoms and went to doctors today and have a bad yeast infection I got mine from taking amoxicillin my body is very prone to yeast infections when I'm on antibiotics

So I had the same issue turns out it was bv and a yeast infection. .... they gave me metronidazole and it worked. Had to yes that because I'm allergic to vaginal cream. After taking your meds give yourself an extra week before sex activities and you should be fine..

So this time i took a single dose of metronidazole again.symptoms seem to clear out and now on my 4th day of period i had a lot of itching and the fishy smell came back. Is there anything as chronic trich or could it maybe be BV or just a yeast infection? I dont have access to the healthcare at the moment.on the remote island and dont want to take another load of metronidazole.i got tested for everything 3 months ago and everything came negative.
