i have my yeast infection 3 weeks ago... but until now, i think its not yet ok.. i still feel itchiness on my genital area but not that itchy anymore compare to the first week.. i itch sometimes but i have still this watery grayish discharge.. i dont feel any burning sensation when i urinate.. i am just worried about this discharge.. i know its not a normal discharge because it is too many.. but on my first week of infection.. i hev this discharge,, chheezy cottage like discharge..

My doctor prescribed me metronidazole because of my yeast infection but I'm really "iffy" about taking it because I don't want to harm my baby. Have any of u guys taken metronidazole while pregnant ?
My question is, I think I have a yeast infection after taking metronidazole to treat BV. Is it safe for me to take Monistat without a doctor's diagnosis of a yeast infection?
A bit more detail if needed - doctor told me I had BV and prescribed the Metronidazole gel for 5 days. I finished using the gel on Sunday Oct 2. My symptoms seemed to be going away. However, starting yesterday morning, I have been experiencing some itching as well as thick, cottage-cheese like discharge.
My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
i finished taking metronidazole 500mg for 7 days and then took a pill for yeast infection for one day cant remenber the name but a week after the npleasant smell is still her ..

So I had the same issue turns out it was bv and a yeast infection. .... they gave me metronidazole and it worked. Had to yes that because I'm allergic to vaginal cream. After taking your meds give yourself an extra week before sex activities and you should be fine..

I started using metronidazole gel for a possible yeast infection/ mild vaginal infection. I am married and have had the same sex partner for many years. I started to get bladder pressure and burning and thats why I went in to the obgyn yesterday. She prescribed me this gel and I started taking it yesterday and twice today morning and evening. Tonight when I used the tube I took it out and it had a few specks of almost blood clot looking things.
m only 7w4d and when I saw my ob last week she cultured me and told me today that I have a bacterial and yeast infection. Typically I can tell, this time I had no idea. She has me on metronidazole tablets for the bv, and gyne-lotrimin for the yi. I've always done monistat in the past, I don't know why she changed it this time...
s much less stressful on your system with fewer systemic side effects to use it that way. Taking it orally is much stronger, but has a lot of side effects, and this way it goes directly where your problem is. Make sure you use it as long as recommended, and don't be surprised if it comes back, as this treatment often doesn't get all the eggs. Good luck with it.
ve been reading it could be a yeast infection , but have no idea, just its very strange because the metronidazole worked very fast and now that ive come off itching burning and dry..not allergic to it because only when i finished its had this affect very confused, and most people would say to phone the clinic so i did and nothing was made of it..
Has anyone had to take metronidazole twice ? Cause the infection didn't clear up the first time ?
Thank you so much for such a quick reply, this is really helpfull. I took down the medication you gave me, although she does not have any symptoms, and she seems fine at the moment... should I take precausions and advise her to take some vagisil just incase?
in for fear it was not really healed. my question is, is that one of the side effects? i know the monostat 1 & 3 are pretty harsh and ive read about the effects other women experienced. my thinking is, since it is pretty harsh, and ive used it through almost twice, my insides are just angry with me and it is a reaction to the prolonged use ofthe medication rather than the yeast infection. has anyone else experienced this?
re prone to this, you can either request a different antibiotic (one that is less likely to cause this) or ask your doctor if there is something he/she can give you along with the antibiotic to reduce the likelihood of getting a yeast infection.
Honestly, doesn't make sense to me either. I'd ask your doctor. Agree that more antibiotics aren't always better. Hello yeast infection. Make sure to take a good probiotic for that reason. Were you also diagnosed with trich? Sometimes that is treated with erythromycin. But otherwise, that is very odd to add that and I'd really like to know why.
