Metrogel cause yeast infection

Common Questions and Answers about Metrogel cause yeast infection

metrogel

My Pharmacist told me to stay away from yogurt while taking the antibiotic as it could easily cause a severe yeast infection. I have found my Pharmacist to be a great source of information, and they know SO much about the affects of meds and foods, and side affects etc.. So you seriously could give the pharmacist a call and bend their ear.. Maybe get some good info since they know what meds you have taken etc.. Pharmacists are VERY educated and offer a wealth of knowledge.
HI! Normally there are a lot of lactobacilli or "good" bacteria present in the vagina, and these bacteria keep other bacteria and yeast from causing symptoms of infection. It is important to keep the "good" bacteria healthy so that they can fight the "bad" ones like the ones that cause BV (gardnarella, etc). You can do this by taking probiotics and also live culture yogurt. BV is not really a sexually transmitted disease, and won't harm a developing baby.
i get bacterial vaginosis alot-its very common, the gel is probley metrogel- it works great but you should have been told that anti-biotics can cause a yeast infection and just eating yogurt with active cultures will solve this problem. The way my dr explained it to me is if there is an odor of fishlike than its an infection.
Approximately two weeks ago, I had BV which caused me to have a Yeast Infection due to the antibiotics. I took the Diflucan but it did not clear the Yeast Infection fully. I came on my cycle while taking the pills which further irritated me. I decided to purchase Monistat to clear the Yeast Infection but I decided to have sex with my boyfriend which was a little painful especially when I had to urinate afterwards, so I decided to purchase Monistat again...
i finished taking metronidazole 500mg for 7 days and then took a pill for yeast infection for one day cant remenber the name but a week after the npleasant smell is still her ..
the doctor also said I had a little bit if a yeast infection with the BV and prescribed me to cream for the yeast infection and pills for the BV ..my question is can I ask the pharmacy if I can get the gel instead of the pill..and can I still take the gel even tho I'm gonna be putting on cream for my yeast infection??
UA and wet mount is normal which would rule out a urinary tract infection and a yeast or gardnerella infection, but has she checked for STDs such as Gonorrhea or Chlamydia. Listen, these are less likely, but if she was thorough, these should have been done as well. 3. Urinary Tract Infection - But UA was normal.
which did NOTHING, the discharge remained and has remained with me until this day. Now I know the doc said it was a yeast, but I have no symptoms a yeast typically brings besides DISCHARGE. And I was reading that Chlaymida and Gonnorreah have similar symptoms. Can I be sure there was no way she could have mistaken the yeast for either or these two STDS? I just don't know why the Monistat didn't work.
I went through medical for the military last year (but i'm not in now, boot camp medical discharge, unrelated) and had passed with no problems in blood work or anything like that. Did treating this yeast infection cause me to get BV? Or could this odor be from the medicine or the last symptoms of the yeast infection? If it is BV, I still have metrogel (because you never use the whole tube), and I thoroughly washed out a few of the last applicators, so I could do the 7 day application.
Do you think what I said in my post about what I thought the original cause of me even getting a yeast infection in the first place is correct? A friend of mine said she always had yeast infection when she was married and she always complained that he husband was sweaty and had an "odor" about him. She has been divorced for some time and has not had one yeast infection since [she has been sexually active since the divorce]. Thanks so much for your help and kind words.
(Sex was with my boyfriend of 1 year) I'm feeling some discomfort but nothing overwhelming, mostly just experience the pain during and after sex. I heard that metrogel can cause yeast infections, should I use the rest of the Terazol in case I have a yeast infection? What is causing the tear to reoccur.. yeast? I really want/need this all to go away!
To make matters worse, I think the Metrogel I've been on has given me a yeast infection. I'm not sure because I've never had one and I thought you could only get yeast infections from the oral types of medications and not the gel but idk. I only used it for 5 days and I've been off of it for about a week. I just have this cottage cheese, clumpy discharge that scared the heck out of me. It burns like hell. Not sure what to do about it since if it isn't yeast, I don't know how to treat for it.
ive never had any diseases or even a yeast infection but for the last week i can smell onion down there? What could be wrong?
No my husband has not been treated and my doctor tells me that that is not true, but I seem to think it would be. Just like a yeast infection, you could keep spreading it back and fourth. Has anyone ever heard of using Boric Acid? I read this somewhere and was wondering. I will talk to my doctor about treating my husband as well. I didn't realize how popular bacterial vaginosis was until I started doing research and it is right up there with yeast infections.
When i first found out i was pg, the doctor told me that i had BV(bacterial vaginosis)and told me that i would have to wait until my 2nd trimester to treat it. I know that you can use yeast infection creams for a yeast infection, but i would make sure you do what the doctor says.. I had to go over 2 months with that freaking infection and it sucked.
if a systemic yeast infection is the same as a regular yeast infection, it is in NO way fatal. normally the skin outside your vagina red, itchy, or irritated. your discharge may be thick and white, and have NO foul odor. if you're that worried, check in with your doctor and have him make sure a yeast infection is what you have. i have a yeast infection, right now and i used a monistat 1-day kit and it seems to be working. you can buy them at almost any grocery store!
I just had BV and opted to go with the metrogel yes it's messy inserted vaginaly like yeast infection creams, but I felt it was a safer drug there is minimal absorbtion.
Hello, Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of abnormal vaginal odor and discharge. It is caused by a change in the type of bacteria found in the vagina. The exact cause for the change in type of bacteria is still not known, but it is can be due to IUD’s,multiple sex partners or having intercourse with a new partner. In addition to unpleasant "fishy" vaginal odor, thin white or yellowish discharge from vagina may also be present.
I was prescribed metrogel when my midwife though I had "something" (cause she said my cervix looked irritated- at the end it turned out being nothing) and yes theres some weird discharge a couple of days into it, it looks like cottage cheese blagh!
The only thing I can think of that wouldn't respond to all the steroids you've been using is a yeast infection of the lips. While you're waiting for the dermatologist, I suggest you apply nothing but 1% clotrimazole cream (no Rx needed) twice a day. Your doctor will be able to tell between yeast (if any), irritation or allergy (which is quite rare.) I see no role for steroid shots, regardless of the cause. Best. Dr.
1) Could the metrogel i took for bv have cause a false negative result for gonorrhea and chlamydia? 2) My pap smear was normal but it did mention i had cellular changes associated with inflammation, could that be the gonorrhea or chlamydia but if it was then why would the results be negative or was the BV that wasnt fully gone, please someone help me out!!!!
So why don't you call your doctor (again) and explain all of your symptoms and ask about whether or not you could have a yeast infection. Also, if you've normally had the vaginal creme medicine maybe you can try the oral (or vice versa). Metrogel never seemed to help for me and I think the name of it was Clindamycin that really helped me. Once again, this is not the doctor's forum so maybe you can post your question over there also. I hope this helped at least a little. Good luck!
Do NOT use Vagisil if you suspect BV! Vagisil treats yeast infections. A yeast infection is an overgrowth of a fungus that can affect the skin (examples: Athlete’s Foot, nails (onychomycosis), mouth (thrush), digestive tract, esophagus, vagina (vulvovaginal candidiasis) and other parts of the body. Yeast infections occur most frequently in moist areas of the body. Although Candida albicans are the most frequent offenders, other types of yeasts (fungi) are known to cause infections.
Could be the start of a yeast infection. If you didn't mention it during your dr visit I doubt they would either since you didn't complain. I would call Monday and see what they say. Good luck.
this last time they didn't ....but this year I have had a uti a yeast infection and now several BV...
I started sleeping with a man (unprotected) in February and got two Bacterial Vaginosis infections from him. Each time they treated the infection with Metro gel, I developed a yeast infection from the meds. Treated once with a gel and the second time with Diflucan pill. A week later, I came home from the gym, and my vulvular area was burning/irritated.
My vagina was throbbing red and itchy, so that monday I went to planned parenthood and was diagnosed with a yeast infection after having a pap done, I didn't take the pill they gave me until I was done with the penicillin. Due to me rubbing and scratching I noticed two long paper cut like sores near the hood of my clitoris, once I put some cream on them they went away after two days.
had no symptoms) He treated it with MetroGel and the day after completing the treatment I now have a yeast infection! I am very diligent about hygeine so I do not know how this could have happened. I am married and have only 1 partner and have NOT even been having sex very often because my libido has been non existent since feeling depressed. I have read that yeast infections and BV can occur when the natural bacteria are off balance and that this can happen with pregnancy. SO.....
it seems like you may have a inflamed cervix, i have the same problem but i am also have side effects from latex.and you can go to ur gyn dr to find out if you do have that problem. good luck i hope you feel better soon.
