everyones different. it was just the opposite for me. after getting off it, I suffered what all long term users do, and thats energy and motivation drop off. so not being as active has made me gain weight after quiting.....not a ton but about 10-15 lbs.
Hair grows in cycles and some times we have more hair loss than others. Stress will certainly cause more hair loss. And opiate withdrawals causes stress. When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered. Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself.
Just a few days ago, I went in to another forum under Alopecia ( hair loss ) and one of the doctors responded to me and told me that methadone is a definite cause of hair loss. This made me feel so much better, I have been tapering off for 2 years now, going very very slow. But that doctor in the forum told me that when I am off the methadone my hair will grow back. I would assume this goes for pretty much all narcotics. I am glad to know I am not the only one losing hair.
I have been on methadone for 2 1/2 years.I 5ft and 1 inch and Ive weighed 115 pounds and could eat what I wanted and never gained a pond,I weighed 135 when pregnant with my son and he was 7lb 2oz.Iam detoxing off of methadone ,I have cut out soda completely and iam eating better and exercising when I can.I have gained 60 pounds while on methadone and I figured since Im detoxing I would have lost some weight by now???
Methadone hampers the digestive system. It doesn't allow your digestive tract to take in nutrients properly. Eat alot of fresh veggies and fruit. Take plenty of vitamins and supplements. This may help. You have lost a dangerous amount of weight. Go to a different Doc. I have been on Methadone for 18 months am in day 5 of being clean. Good luck.
To update. I'm on .5 mg. Originally, I attempted to jump off two years back. I withdrawals for thirty days, got back on at 8 mg. About a month later my hair turned REALLY frizzy, the same friz it is now and began falling out evenly across my head. Even on the sides. Eyebrow hair was falling out too. I've since cut to .5 mg over the last two years. Much of this thread got misconstrued about personal experience and struggles. I'm not hear to share struggles.
I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great
I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it,

That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism )

I have seen a local Derm who said there was no scarring on my scalp and no real skin issues associated with my hair loss. In 2004 I took a course of Roaccutane for acne and noticed some thinning after the course finished. I was told that this was a known side effect, but that the hair would grow back. It has been over four years!!! My hair is uniformly thinned out across the entire scalp.
Personally, I can't answer that question. It sounds like a medical/legal inquiry.
I can tell you that it's a small amount of methadone given 3 hours before the morphine but you don't say how much morphine or rubinol. It almost sounds like an allergic reaction.
What do the doctors say? Regardless, it's a tragic loss and you have my sympathy and best wishes. I hope you have plenty of support.
m natural with no chemicals in my hair and I have never had a problem with hair loss. I went from thick long hair to thin short hair. This is so sad. I'm not sure what to do because my skin has really cleared up from Doryx but if I continue to take it I will be bald with pretty skin! Not a great combination! Thanks for reviews!
