Avatar f tn gfr measures your kidney function.. low filtration rate is suggestive that your kidney has not been working very well.. creatinine is fairly reliable indicator of kidney function.. so the high value of your creatinine may be because of your kidney.
Avatar n tn Hey- just a quick question, can any of the tx meds for Hep C cause kidney problems? I just have had some issues lately and was wondering if they could be linked to tx.

Avatar m tn Hi, Was this diagnosis of a kidney inflammation given by a physician? What urinary symptoms did she present? Did she present with blood in her urine? How is your friend's blood pressure? Was this monitored? Was her kidney function determined? The presence of a kidney inflammation when associated with hemoptysis ( medical term for coughing blood ) may be due to a Pulmonary Renal Syndrome( PRS). Pulmonary Renal Syndrome is usually caused by several conditions.
Avatar f tn I have been put on zonigrine and its like topamax and its doing nothing for me so Im getting off of it. It too can cause kidney stones. Like we need anymore problems. I too pray you get answers.
Avatar n tn So I would like some suggestions as to what it could possibly be that is causing all these problems? Thank you, very very much.
Avatar n tn The extra fluid and sodium increases pressure in your blood vessels, causing edema. Edema associated with kidney disease usually occurs in your legs and around your eyes. Kidney damage. Damage to the tiny blood vessels in your kidneys (glomeruli) that filter waste and excess water from your blood can result in nephrotic syndrome. One result of nephrotic syndrome is low levels of protein (albumin) in your blood, which can lead to fluid accumulation and edema. Worst case scenarios.
Avatar f tn My current doc just wants me to continue with my strong medications as before, but I fear those medications may be causing kidney damage. What is your opinion? I have to go to the bathroom lots and have puffy eyelids. How important is the GFR - even with a normal creatinine?
1553775 tn?1325182402 I do have a lot of anxiety problems and I wonder if that contributes to it. I also take Paxil for my anxiety and I have been told that can cause high blood pressure. So my questions are: Is hydrochlorothiazide something that can be discontinued later after my blood pressure lowers or is it a drug that is meant to be taken long term? Has anyone had experience with Paxil causing high blood pressure? Thanks.
Avatar f tn m so sorry that you are having these problems. It sounds like you have had a bladder infection which has gone up into your kidney and is causing your pain. It may be that you weren't taking antibiotics for long enough to clear up your initial infection and it has come back. Definitely get treated again and then get your doctor to find out what is causing your symptoms to occur as urine/kidney infections aren't usual in young women.
Avatar m tn urinary tract infections, kidney infections, a bladder or kidney stone. kidney disease, kidney injury, certain medications and strenuous exercise. Treatment for hematuria depends on the cause. If no serious condition is causing the hematuria, no treatment is necessary. Your ultrasound seems fine. It is best to discuss this with your doctor for proper evaluation. Physical examination and medical history are important in reaching a diagnosis. Take care and regards.
1012861 tn?1250949418 I posted a question before about kidney stones that I have. I have 2 stones in my left kidney one 5mm and the other 2mm. I haven't had any problems with them in about a month and then last night out of no where I start having left sided flank pain and passing a lot of blood in my urine. I ended up going to the hospital for the pain. They did another CT scan and told me that the stones had not moved at all from the last CT. They gave me a shot of Torodol and sent me home.
Avatar n tn I say this to you because you are only 17 and you have a chance to avoid all the problems that being overweight causes- heart problems, lung problems, liver, kidney, you name it. Death rates due to obesity are drastically on the rise. Change this while you are young and can still do so! As for being OCD and taking a lot of medicine- this too is never a good idea. If you get a very bad headache, by all means take a Tylenol or an Advil.
202665 tn?1248806733 Kidney problems can be a side effect of some of the medications which is why regular blood tests should be taken to check the toxicity levels in your blood stream. A blood test should be done prior to taking the medications to check your normal levels. The only medications I personally know of that can have this side effect are lithium and depakote. However, not all people experience the side effects.

Avatar m tn However, kidney stone are not the only reason for pain in the kidney area. I had other kidney pains from Reno cyst. My kidney doctor said the cyst is common in everyone and normally do not cause discomfort. I had surgery several times and had them aspirated and this released my pain. I wish you all the luck in finding the true result and treatment that will help you.

But, search thru. websites say otherwise. My creatinine and Urea (BUN) levels seems to signalling I'm heading for kidney problems ahead.
Avatar n tn Still sounds like something with the kidneys. Are you on any medications? Some medications can cause kidney pain, even after you have been on them for a while and have been fine. Some acid reflux meds can do that. Best to be checked out by a Dr. Also examine your lifestyle. You may be abusing yourself with something, food, drugs, alcohol, etc. Everyone has a different tolerance.
Avatar n tn Whilst on these types of medications, it is advisable to have a blood test taken once a year to check kidney and liver functions. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I would not recommend taking all those medications, unless prescribed to you by your doctor. As well as possibly getting kidney and liver problems from too much medications, Ibuprofen can also cause internal bleeding and should be taken with or after food. Make an urgent appointment to see your doctor.
Avatar f tn But would certainly have gone off the cholesterol medications. These are well known for causing a lot of problems for people. There was a TV programme in the UK last year that documented a lot of people having adverse side effects and to some it caused irreparable damage. My next door neighbour had to come off them because they made him ill. My husband chose not to take them because of the side effects. Some anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen can cause oedema.
