Lump in armpit after giving birth

Common Questions and Answers about Lump in armpit after giving birth

lump

During the 6th month of my pregnancy I noticed a lump under my left armpit, it was painful at times and I was informed by my GP that due to hormonal imbalances during pregnancy it was not unusual. Since giving birth nearly 2 years ago the lump has remained, my GP has now described it as excess breast tissue. It is painful at times and seems to be getting larger.I am concerned, should I seek a 2nd opinion?
I've also felt it in my armpit at times and it will also creep up over my shoulder. Although I VERY RARELY feel it on the right side, it DOES happen once in awhile. But for the most part it's been my left side. I've had all the heart tests, including stress echo, I've had an MRI of my brain and neck, I've had a breast exam. I've even seen a chiropractor. Every test they've done comes back normal. And nothing seems to help. I've tried aspri - doesn't work.
Almost three months ago at week 12 of hepc treatment I noticed lumps in my neck. After swollen lymph nodes showed up in my armpit and groin the hep c doctor sent me to see an oncologist. Turns out the treatment can make your lymph nodes swell and the oncologist said he is not .concerned at all.
However I am finished with that medicine, and still have the acid feeling. I don't know if it's just me, but after I take the pill in the morning I get that feeling. It's not as bad as the first week, I can handle it. But its annoying. I thought it was one of the symptoms that I would experience, but nowhere does it say acid reflux. Does anyone else have this symptom or I am the only one???
I RECENTLY FOUND A LUMP IN MY RIGHT ARMPIT. WENT IN YESTERDAY FOR MY ANNUAL CHECKUP AND THE DR FOUND ANOTHER ONE IN THE LOWER RIGHT BREAST. I QUESTIONED WHETHER IT WAS POSSIBLY AN INFECTION AND HE SAID NO! THE LOOK ON HIS FACE SCARED ME TO DEATH! HE SAID THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY FIBROID CYSTS. THEY DO NOT HURT BUT THEY ARE UNCOMFORTABLE AND TENDER IF PRESSURE IS APPLIED. THEY ARE OBLONG AND GEL-LIKE NOT HARD. HAS BEEN SOME TINGLING AND ARM FALLING ASLEEP AT NIGHT.
The abscess can become larger than a ping pong ball. Boils occur in areas where there is hair chafting. the face, neck, armpit, breast, groin, and buttocks are common sites.....then it goes on to treatment with cloth. doesn't mention any serious outcomes like surgery. Thankyou for your information also because now I think i will phone my doctor and ask her if its serious enough for surgery, or just a big pimple?
The lumps went as hard as my breasts after I gave birth. During my second pregnancy the lumps increased in size, but I also found lumps around my vagina. The vaginal lumps were removed at the same time I had my Caesarian section and sent to the lab. It was discovered that those lumps were breast tissue too. My obstetrician rang to tell me and I just laughed with her, (we had become friendly as she'd had to monitor me closely during pregnancy due to my kidney transplant).
I am 37 years old and in the past week have experienced two bursting events. After the first, which was in my foot right behind the toe line (anyone else get one in the foot?), I convinced myself it was a bug bite or a hard hit, although I couldn't recall either occuring. The second happened yesterday on the back of my right hand at the base of the 3rd finger. The swelling across the 3 center knuckles was so large I thought it would pop right there!
maternal parent can transfer it to a child at birth through blood exchange or in the birth canal. Think on the lines of infected hair follicles, that may be what it is.
I had a breast reduction in 2003 (removing a total of 15 lbs.) I discovered a lump in my right breast about 3 months after the surgery. I went back to the surgeon and he said that it was scar tissue. My OB/GYN indicates that it feels like scar tissue be it that my breast were sooooooo large prior to the surgery. In the last 4-6 weeks (2008), I have been having really bad pain (sharp) in the same breast where the scar tissue is located and my nipple is often tender and sore.

Herniated a cervical disc a year ago & recovered. Otherwise healthy, active, 47 yrs old. Now experiencing worsening electric shock type pain & muscle spasms under right breast, brief episodes of numbness in armpit & down right arm.

After it stopped, there was some minor muscle pain similar to that experienced after irregular exertion. After it stopped, I mentioned it to my doctor in mid-December who listened but did not suggest any specific testing to address the symptom. It started up again this week. I am curious to hear what others learn.
I have had that same smoke smell in my nose from time to time. I also get the sensation that one feels after they have been punched in the nose, but not very often. Probably only about 3 times a year or so. I do have sinus problems and always have, but I have never really taken anything for it other than something over the counter during a cold. I have regular stuffiness and pretty much always have. I just have learned to deal with it. It would be nice to know were that smoke smell comes from.
From intimate relation to giving birth. Imagine while giving birth u hv to show those part to all. Not to mention b4 giving birth u hv a monthly checkup. But the worst if u hv trouble during giving the birth, which the doctor will really hv to pay attention by checking your "part" again and again!! I'm sorry if my story may cause u trauma but what i'm trying to tell is, things happened. Nothing much to be done and move on.
I sleep on my left side with my hands in front - not under my head/pillow. I gave birth (no epidural etc) in August 2007 and have not worked or used a computer (apart from occasional use at home) since then and have certainly been more active so ?!? Maybe i'll print all these comments off and go to my Docs !!! So glad I ain't alone - makes it somehow less scary ?!?
it sounds like a little more than perimenopause and the fact it started after you gave birth may be an in dication of hormonal disruption. I certainly would not go on Bio-identical hormones until I had my hormone levels checked out (all hormone levels, not just the sex hormones). When cortisol levels are high, you can develop all sorts of skin problems normally associated with aging. Growth hormone will thicken the skin but at your age you should be producing enough of it.
I experienced this sort of thing for many years after taking Accutane in 1985. The worst side effects of this drug appear after one is done with the course of therapy. Because of this the correlation between the dysfunctions of the body and the drug is lost.

Joint pain, specifically in my R knee and L wrist 3. Swollen lymph nodes in the back of my neck and armpit on the affected side, and pain along the entire course of my lymphatic system in this area. 4. Extreme fatigue and exhaustion - sometimes this is better and sometimes it is worse. 5. The same "toxic" feeling that Jo has described having. 6. My symptoms do seem to fluctuate with my cycle. 7.
He tells me he feels a lump in my neck and he'd like to send me to get an ultrasound to check it out. I do, and go back. He said at that appointment that its ovular, so there's 3 measurements, but the most important one is that its 2.8 and they recommend removing it at 3.5. So I asked, then I don't need surgery? He says no but he wants to make sure its not cancerious first. If its cancerous then it will need removal.
In my experience, going to sleep made me feel better because it made me feel safe to be in my own home and in bed, but when I awoke, I would be paralized in my bed by self-fulfilling prophecies - dizziness, heaviness in arms and legs, heavy chest, shortness of breath, etc. What started the ball rolling was a lump under my armpit that appeared one day out of the blue, but did not go away.
you have to relent and just let go? Not like hurting yourself, but just giving in to whatever the h e double ell is going on/? I thankyou , Tamra, for your words of hope. I can do this. I think.
I havnt slept in 3 days( I literally slept sitting up in bed), missed 2 days of work. Feel relief after it popped while i was at work today. I have a gaping hole behind my ear. From my observation, I think the build up fluid never stops. I feel bad for kids who have to go thru this! Srry for the long story. Finally there are others out there who can relate!
Racing heart, fatigue, soreness in the neck, lump in the throat, muscle twitches, migraine, etc. etc. Just a thought, may be worth it to rule it out. The hormonal changes and stress of childbirth can actually cause a thyroid imbalance. Some thyroid disorders can actually CAUSE panic attacks. That was 16 years ago. A year after surgery I felt great! Now, 15 years later, I am having trouble with my thyroid again. Felt like it came out of nowhere.
The first time I ever experienced these thoughts was after the birth of my first child in 2000. It was pretty scary and I had numerous tests for numerous ailments. I had tension headaches for 3 months and was convinced I had a brain tumour and even had a CT scan to rule it out. Had that typical anxiety lump in the throat feeling and ended up having a gastroscopy to check for esophageal cancer.. the list goes on.. After I was diagnosed with Post Partum Depression with anxiety (you think??
my doctor said sometimes his patients even use a hair dryer to dry off...after a bath... he also said, its normal for women to be in so much pain from it...feeling like vomiting...unable to sit down, or sometimes even walk properly... one doctor was amazed i was able to even sit down!! ..
After months of trying to find the problem and thinking the pain was originating under armpit and radiating in breast doctor finally ordered MRI of my neck and found that I had a herniated disc C4-C5 and C5-C6. After undergoing PT problem resolved itself.
