I first noticed similar symptoms to the above about 6-12 months ago a small firm non moveable lump at the base of my sternum about 1 1/2cm. Hasnt bothered me but finally felt I should see the doctor to get it checked out. So today I went. He examined it and suggested a bony lipoma the only concern in his diagnosis was that lipomas are usually softer and moveable. He sent me for a chest x ray which I had today and blood tests which I will have on Friday.
I visited my doctor yesterday because of a lump at the base of my sternum, appeared about 2 months ago, maybe an inch in diameter and 1/2 inch deep. Its tender for a few days after touching or feeling it. Yes, I thought it could be cancer related. He said it was part of my sternum, he put me on the table to examine it twice. He said I may only be noticing it because of weight loss, I lost a few stone in the past 2 years (although I don't remember having it when I was thin).
Before I make an appointment with my Doctor, I seem to have formed a lump, or bulge, or whatever the correct term is. It seems to be in the void right at the base of the sternum, right in the centre. It doesn't feel painful to touch or prod, but I've noticed I feel bloated a lot more lately. I have no idea what is there? I assume the Liver lays across that area and the pancreas? I have no real symptoms, but it just annoys me knowing it's there.
After those symtoms left i have felt a lump or something stuck in throat and maybe like a small soreness also at time. This feeling is in the soft part of throat right above breast bone sternum area. I dont really notice it unless i swallow saliva. It doesnt seem to bother me eating drinking or breathing. Feel the best right awsy when i wake up but soon after it goes full force.
I have severe heartburn and have had a few 3-4 day bouts of vomiting. I have pain in my back at the base of the rib cage usually on the mid left side, but I have also had it on the right of center. I just got over a severe resp. infection that lasted 4 weeks. I am feel like the infection is coming back. I have a foul taste in my throat and have been coughing up small bits of yellow phlem. I am running a fever of 99.6 to 100 most days. I normally am on the low side of normal.
Dear Doctor, several months ago I found a lump at the base of my neck, I had two nodes removed and was diagnosed with NHL. Half way through treatment PET scan showed complete remission however just before my last treatment I noticed a hard lump under the proximal end of my scar which is half way between my sternum and ac joint, about an inch above my clavicle. My oncologist suggested it was scar tissue aggravated by activity and said I needn't worry about a biopsy.
I have just turned 40, but have had a hard lump on my right rib bone (I think) right in the crease around the base of my breast. It has been there for a number of years at least 6 or 7. I had an ultrasound on it and they questioned doing a biopsy but decided not to and just said to have it checked if there were any changes. It is hard to tell if it changes or not. I just have noticed lately that it annoys me and is tender and seems to be bigger...hard to tell.
Hello, I'm a 44 yr old women with no prior history of GI problems. About a month ago, I developed a constant sense of a lump in the throat- that can change from a sensation of having something "stuck" to a constricting sensation. Approx location, below at base of throat or down further, behind the bone. Can swallow, but food wants to stick. Occasional pain the sternum, hoarseness than has increased and every once in a while, referred pain to the jaw. ENT doc saw nothing.
I recently lost weight and was taking my shirt off in front of the bathroom mirror last night. My hands were above my head and I noticed a lump at the base just below my sternum and just to the left. It is about the size of a half dollar. It doesn't hurt and I've never noticed it before. The breast on that side has been giving me a little trouble the past few weeks with periodically itching at the top of the areola.
Over the course of the next 12 months three of my sisters had TTs because of thyroid cancer, another had precancer, and my teenage daughter had precancer. I opted to have the left lobe removed then. Good thing I did too because a few years later I had a cancer recurrence and had to have RAI. (You can't have successful RAI for cancer with part of your thyroid remaining) All of my sisters and my daughter had Hashi's (I do not). The partial thyroidectomy was just as involved as a full TT.
I've been having stomach issues for 3 or 4 years now. A few months ago I noticed a small lump at the base of my sternum that I had never noticed before. I told my doctor about it, and he said it was my Zyphoid and told me it is harmless. I have concerns that it may be something else because of my persistent stomach issues for 3 years now, and the fact I've never noticed it before.
Remember that you did just have surgery and average recover is 6-8wks. Also the reason you feel worse at the end of the day is because you feel good in the morning so tend to do more. Try to limit what you are doing to small things. If you normally excercise, know that you wont be able to do what you did before the OR for a while start slow and work your way up without expecation as to when you should be normal again.

However this should not be reducible. In that area the hernia that is most prevalent is a Hiatal Hernia. I have one...and 60% of America develop one before the age of 60. I have never heard of this being palpable or reducable. That doesn't mean it never is...

I am extremely tired and weak..i do have anemia..

I also have the pressure at the base of throat at times. Not always. For the most part stress and anxiety bring these on. I have stopped caffien, chocolate and all other triggers but can't say that any of it matters. Does anyone out there know how long these things can hang on? Can they be gone and leave as fast as they came? I've even tried ignoring them......To no avail.
- almost never wake up feeling refreshed - tired during day - brain fog and trouble concentrating - ringing in ears - dry hair (feels like straw sometimes when I rinse out shampoo) - enlarged thyroid with nodules - feeling like there's a lump in my throat at the base of my neck, slightly above where collar bones meet - sort of tickly or scratchy feeling in throat sometimes, need to clear throat more than usual - feel the cold a lot more than I used to, but I've also lost a lot of weight in the
I'm currently experiencing a tenderness at the base of my sternum and a minor stabbing pain between my shoulder blades. Had the sonogram - nothing. Sometimes, I swear I'm doing it to myself - it comes and goes, but the more worried I get, the more symptoms I seem to experience. But then again - I'm 44. Never had a problem quite like this. I'm taking carafate for the "minor bacterial infection" in the lining of my stomach, zocor for my cholesterol and wellbutrin to stop smoking.
