Avatar f tn Hello, I've just come back from my P.E. lesson and I experienced severe dizziness and chest pain. I exercise (training) 3 times a week, go running regularly and used to do athletics 12 hours a week, but have experienced that faint feeling and chest pain (it feels like my chest cramps up) whenever I exercise more severely in the last 2 weeks. I'm a sixteen year old female, have a BMI of 18.
Avatar n tn and Europe have given up on making recommendations for a one size fits all approach to hypertension. There is now more focus on treating hypertension while taking into consideration other comorbidities. For instance, a patient with HTN and history of heart attack would get a beta blocker as the primary HTN drug while someone with diabetes would get an ACE inhibitor to protect their kidneys. The same consideration might be given patients with liver disease if this pans out.
769503 tn?1238496321 Rampril is an ACE inhibitor and this class of drugs has a good reputation. I would prefer Losartan, which seems to have a superior action with few side effects. The dose of Ramipril is half of what can be prescribed daily (20 mg). It is NOT o.k. to take more propanalol. I would discuss with your physician the idea of eliminating both drugs and going to simply Losartan.
Avatar m tn Choletsrol was 5,6, LDL= 3,5 , HDL =1,42, b on 05/05/2009 i did another test in different lab, results were Cholesterol= 6.9, LDL=4,90, HDL=1,20. I do not take any drug for cholesterol, have started using fermented red rice. I am still smoking. " Lodoz"2,5 mg seems to control my blood preasure fine.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I'm 22 just diagnosed with hypertension. My cardiologist prescribed me losartan today I was wondering if this is a good recommended Bp medicine mine runs typically 150-160/90-95. Thanks, hope I can get some input!
2009161 tn?1327915695 I was worried so went to a doctor, the doctor checked my BP was 170/100, which was high as per the doctor, since then I am having LOSARTAN POTASIUM tablets of 50 mg every day prescribed by him, but still at times my BP in the evenings when I check is 150/100. Do I need to increase my dossage or continue with some physical excercises to reduce my BP, when ever I did some meditation for 10 mins, I checked with my electronic BP monitor it reduces compared to previous reading though.
Avatar n tn I don't know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
Avatar m tn An angioplasty will not prevent hypertension, and hypertension can be an underlying cause for vessel occlusion and hardening of the arteries requiring angioplasty. High blood pressure requires treatment and needs to be controlled. Sometimes medication can be stopped as some high blood pressure is the result of the individual's lifestyle, diet, lack of appropriate exercise, smoking, alcohol, etc.
Avatar m tn In many cases there is no cause found for elevated or high blood pressure. In fact, essential hypertension (also called primary hypertension or idiopathic hypertension) is the most common type of hypertension, affecting 95% of hypertensive patients. There are a lot of medicins with different working principles to lower bp. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. It keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.
Avatar f tn the doctor switched me to Losartan 50 qd. I am going to change on Monday to Losartan and am nervous about what will happen. any thoughts on this??
Avatar m tn Hey everyone thanks in advance for those of you that are reading this it Is greatly appreciated of any feed back. First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
973741 tn?1342342773 I have been taking Lisinopril for decades and switched to Losartan in July. Personally I would take a controlled reading of around 130/80 for me as acceptable.
Avatar n tn People often take sleeping meds and anti depressants that have hcv or are treating. I don't know a lot about the lisinoprill, but I read about a small study that Losartan (for high blood pressure) may reverse fibrosis. Your doctor should know about your hcv and your meds, especially if you are treating. http://ihealthbulletin.
Avatar f tn Hi, Im already taking Norvasc 5 Mg and Lisinopril 12.5 Mg for my Hypertension. My Dr. wants to bring in another Blood Pressure pill ( clonidine) If i spelled that right. Do any of you all take this combo?? Just wondering if all of these made your blood pressure drop too low? Thanks for input!
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm over 70 and was diagnosed with high blood pressure some 30 years ago. I am just over 6' tall and at 230 I'd also be overweight. The rule of thumb is, as your weight drops, blood pressure tends to follow in many cases. This is not to say that skinny people don't get hypertensive. Wearing an ambulatory sphygmomanometer is no fun, and may only add to your anxiety which you said "has been through the roof for a while now.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing a low heart rate for as long as I can remember recording it. It falls in the lines of 40s-60s resting usually below 60's. i have been experiencing frequent heart palpitations(skipping beats) when in resting and working out sometime. Should I be concerned? Will I have to have a pacemaker? I do get dizzy sometimes, I also have hypertension my Bp runs in the 140's consistently, diastolic usually normal 70-80 usually.
