Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro side effects headaches

lexapro

Avatar f tn Do the side effects of Lexapro (specifically headaches) usually lessen with length of time used? I've only been on it less than a week, but have had headaches all day every day all day since I started them. OTC Tylenol or Ibuprofen don't do anything in terms of relief.
Avatar f tn Hi Anne, I am on Lexapro 20mg and I've been on it for 1 1/2 months now. I feel pretty good now, my first 2 weeks were a little tough, but my Dr. had switched me from Prozac after 2 weeks straight to the Lexapro. I'm not sure if my side effects were from the Prozac still in my system or if was the Lexapro- or combo of both!! But I did experience headaches for awhile. I stuck it out and the headaches did go away- I would at times take a .
Avatar f tn Hi, I am too experiences horrific effects from coming off 20mg Lexapro. But I can't take all the side effects anymore. I wish I knew what to do to stop the vertigo/dizziness but the only thing I can find on internet (but havent' tried yet) is a motion sickness tablet that contains a vestibular suppressant. Only thing I wanted to mention is that a friend/nutritionist has suggested I take SamE as an alternative to the Lexapro.
Avatar m tn The worst problem with them is trying to stop taking them, which can be hard to impossible, but of course many will have side effects. Lexapro and Celexa are notorious for causing head pressure, and often when you take a drug this long the effects can be permanent. I've never heard of the things you mention, but I don't doubt you saw evidence of this, but as the above says, you already know Lexapro won't do this to you.
Avatar f tn I think the Lexapro side effects are so mild I can only hope the nausea eventually goes away. I have to say my morning (migraine) headaches have stopped since taking the lexapro.
1295419 tn?1276822872 I like the effects of the Lexapro mentally, but just curious if anyone else had similar side effects and if so, if they went away or you had to start taking something else? I was on Zoloft before the Lexapro but had to stop taking it because of urinary issues it was causing. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I read recently on the Lexapro website that sinus problems are one of its most common side effects. Imagine that! I saw an ENT, who told me I was clenching my jaw, causing me the ear feeling. Then I read on this site recently that Lexapro was causing jaw clenching. So there you have it. These are just weird stuff, these meds.
Avatar n tn When starting SSRIs like Lexapro there can be an adjustment period as your body adjusts to it. For me, it took a couple of weeks for the side effects to virtually go away, but remain in contact with your doctor about this. Sometimes, it is a little trial and error, to find the right one! Just be patient and pro-active and keep us posted!
Avatar f tn ), sleep disturbances, GI upset, increase or decrease in appetite, headaches. Try not to get overly focused on worrying about side effects...you may have a few mild ones, or none at all. Try to be as patient as you can while waiting for the Lexapro to work. Also, if you haven't already, seek out some therapy. Meds are great for reducing symptoms, but therapy is invaluable for learning coping techniques and getting support. Good luck, hope the Lexapro works for you...
Avatar f tn Side effects start right away, at whatever dose. The normal doses for Celexa and Lexapro are lower than for some other drugs, like Zoloft, but 10mg is a good place to start. But it isn't necessarily to ever go a lot higher than that. The effects you're hoping for start withing about 4-6 weeks for most people. I found both Lexapro and Celexa, but more Lexapro, have some weird effects, including the sweats, but also pressure in the head. It got worse as the dose went up.
Avatar f tn Lexapro and Buspar are totally different medications. Buspar is an anti-anxiety medication (I take that along with paxil) Lexapro is an anti depressant. You shouldn't have the same side effects. However, it will take a few weeks for the medication to work. You may have some side effects from that but everyone is different. However, you need to find the right med for you. Sometimes it is on the first shot, other times it may take a few. Hang in there and don't lose hope!

Avatar m tn Your not supposed to drinks on these meds. Yes, headaches and dry mouth are a common side effect. How long have you been on cipralex?? I think you need to give it time if you just started, more times than not those side effects such as headache will eventually subside. I wish you luck, is it working for you otherwise? It takes a month sometimes two to get the full therapeutic effect so give it a chance! Good luck to you.
7562787 tn?1392202672 Hello there! Sorry you're having such a rough time. Yes, you're correct that a lot of the symptoms you describe are consistent with the fairly common "start up" side effects of Lexapro. The most common side effect is feeling "jittery", or "keyed up" as you described (like you drank 10 pots of coffee). Also, it's not uncommon to experience an INCREASE in anxiety for a brief time as well.
Avatar n tn It takes a while for the side effects to go away. As your body adjusts the tiredness will fade. Contact your doctor on the headaches since starting cymbalta tho. Could be a problem side effect.
677061 tn?1226275988 When it comes to side effects which is more benign as far as cardiac function concerns?
Avatar f tn t properly taper down on the Lexapro and wellbutrin, you could be suffering withdrawal effects. And it could be side effects of Prozac. As well as just more fun from your underlying anxiety. Too much at one time makes it hard for us to figure out what's causing what.
Avatar n tn Have you noticed any side effects on Clonazepam or Lexapro? I am on 10 mg of Lexapro for a while now and added 1 mg of Clonazepam 2 monts ago. I noticed that I get twitches in my fingers and sometimes my fingers shake a little. Does this familiar to anyone?
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried escitilopram ? How are the side effects?
Avatar n tn I never experienced sexual side effects with Lexapro, but I have with other anxiety medications. I didn't like it one bit! So, when I stopped taking those particular meds, I am happy to say that all functions returned to normal :) If you are on Lexapro, there must be a reason (anxiety?) so I wouldn't recommend not being on anything. I'd talk to your doctor and try something else, and if that doesn't work, something else.
750172 tn?1256147076 Hi, I have been seeing just a counselor for about two months now. But, I went into my GP today. Got prescribed 10mg of Lexapro and I think 10mg of Ambien. I've also been diagnosed as borderline manic deppressive. I just wanted to get some experiences of people taking these meds. Couple questions...How long will it take to notice effects from the Lexapro?? Also, what are some of the side effects I could feel from both meds? I've read about possible side effects...
