Can Lexapro cause frequent urination? because I've been taking it for about 2 years and I go 20 plus times a day. Would a doctor please let me know.
I have not noticed that symptom with any of the numerous meds I've been on over the years. Currently on lamictal 200mg and lexapro 20mg and no excess urination problems. If something else is causing your problem, I know the doc can prescribe medicines that will limit your need to urinate so often. But your doc should check every other possible cause to be sure there is not another medical condition.
I take 20 mg of Lexapro daily and on other medicine. About one year ago, I had a glucose test done at my annual pelvic exam visit, and my sugar was higher than usual but not diabetic. I'm wondering if I might be having diabetic symptoms and not even know it for sure or if it's just a side effect of me taking Lexapro.
I'm a 61 year old male. Usually after urination I notice a small yellowish substance on my underwear or tissue, usually at night after urination. The substance than hardens. The spots have been getting more frequent. I also notice a slight soreness on the tip of my penis after urination which goes away. I also have been taking Lexapro recently. Any ideas??
I went thru the "merry-go-round" with several anti-depressants 10 or so years ago. It was a horror getting off them, Doctor felt now Lexapro might be a good match for me considering my low-grade anxiety,panic attacks (more fear of having one) and mild depression. In a high stress job but can't really be impaired which side effects & withdrawal can do.
So I went to my psyc. doctor last month and he doesn't think that the Lexapro is causing me to urinate all the time...like 20 plus times a day. He acted like he didn't know and that I need to take to my family doctor. I haven't seen my family doctor yet about it. Do you think my pscy. doctor doesn't know what he's talking about? Shouldn't he have been able to recommend something for my frequent trips to the bathroom? Doctor, what do you think?
Thank you so much for your input Paxiled. I needed to hear that because deep down I know that I don't need these medications. I don't have a mental problem just went thru a phase of mixed emotions. I fell in love and fell hard for someone. The relationship was a toxic one and we both knew it. Yet, we couldn't end it and just kept dragging it further on. My heart aches still. I just don't know how to snap out of this.
Since April of 2009, I have been having strange urinary problems. For about 3 weeks, I had increased urinary frequency and urgency, as well as painful urination. This seemed to come with thirst and dry mouth.

No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee

As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression.
Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?
I was taking lexapro and felt it was doing fairly well. Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.

Your doctor prescribed you a common regimen. The Lexapro is an SSRI antidepressant that will take some time to become effective (typically 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 8 weeks, especially when starting on a low dose as you are).
The Xanax is a benzodiazepine, anti-anxiety medication that is being Rx'ed to treat the symptoms of anxiety while you're adjusting to the Lexapro, and waiting for it to become effective in reducing your anxiety.
if your main symptom is palpitations, then a beta blocker might be more appropriate than Lexapro. But if you had a lot of problems and most have gone away, then stick with the Lexapro -- drugs don't cure, they just mitigate the symptoms. You'll always have symptoms unless you find a cure through some kind of therapy work.
I've been on Zoloft for five years 100 mgs now on 50 mgs and trying Lexapro . Past two weks my anxiety has tripled so my doc put me on cymbalta. Will Cymbalta increase my anxiety like the Lexapro I hear they are similiar? Are there any odd side effects. Doc is starting me on 30 mgs.
