Laser eye floaters

Common Questions and Answers about Laser eye floaters

laser

Avatar f tn There are two treatments being advertised for sufferers of severe floaters-more laser surgery, said to target the large bodies in the eye, that are not close to the macula, and, Floaters only Vitrectomy (FOV). The laser treatment of floaters has shown little success, from stats I've read. There are dangers as well, because of possible retinal damage from the laser. The FOV is only offered by a limited number of eye doctors, however, that list is growing.
Avatar m tn Floaters cause a great deal of anxiety and distress to people. Please follow this link and read two medical journal articles on the subject: https://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn Laser will not diminish or eliminate floaters. It may seal the retinal holes. There is much disagreement among retina Eye MDs about which holes should be treated with laser or freezing (cryotherapy). I suggest you get a second opinion from another retina eye MD ophthalmologist. If the holes are small, round, without fluid or traction and located inferiorly rarely are they treated.

Avatar f tn Hi Dr. Hagan. Does yag vitreolysis work for reducing eye floaters? I was wondering. Am getting used to them but it would be nice if there was something that would reduce them. Barbara; how are you? This discussion is related to To dangerous to do a yag laser treatment?.
Avatar m tn She then said that I have lattice degeneration in my left eye but in my right eye it was benign, (but the right eye was the one with more floaters) she then suggested for a focal laser be performed. I went to another retina specialist, he said that I have lattice degeneration in both eyes (he just used the slit lamp exam and was able to detect lattice in both eyes, he didn't even have to dilate it) I went ahead and got both eyes lasered. questions: 1.
Avatar f tn 1. Floaters are not common after lasers BUT laser is often done for conditions that cause floaters such as retinal holes, tears, detachments or bleeding in the eye as for example diabetic neuropathy. 2. Temporary or permanent dilations of the pupil (partial or complete) CAN occure after laser treatment if a hole is located over the nerves to the pupil in which case they can be damaged by the laser. It should be noted that these nerves are not visible to the physician treating.
Avatar m tn You have to go see an ophthalmologist to make sure your retina is intact. Laser for floaters is a very bad idea. In cases where you are not able to live normally because of the floater, vitrectomy can be considered as a surgical solution.
Avatar m tn I'm only 16 years old and I just got eye floaters a few months ago now, and they are ruining my life. Is there anything to cure them other than surgery and laser treatment or at least to make you see them less often. A lot of people say there isn't cure for it but I heard those herbal and those other eye drops from Italy cure them for good, but it takes time. And does anyone know any other things to cure them or make them better?
Avatar n tn A new appearance of floaters, flashing lights or a curtain dropping may indicate a serious eye problem, known as a retinal detachment. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar m tn Why are these flashes and floaters appering just after laser? Also please tell me if dilation of eye at this frequency (every week) is bad practise ?
Avatar n tn I had laser surgery on my left eye 10 days ago. I had cataract surgery on the same eye about 2 weeks before that. I have had blurry vision with floaters since the laser surgery. It really wasn't too bad after the cataract surgery. I was wondering how long it should take for my vision to clear up? This discussion is related to Floaters after cataract surgery.
Avatar n tn I had the floaters removed from my right eye with a Vitrectomy. The floaters will be gone, but your eyesight will be worse and you may have to have cataract lens implants. You may also get eye infections and lose your near vision. The loss of near vision depending on the lens implant you get can be corrected with glasses, but the eye infections from the loss of the lipid layer to your eyes from the cataract lens implant operation may reoccur.
Avatar n tn And can floaters be cured. I have been given bottles of eye drop and laser beam treatment, yet i see more floaters. few weeks after th laser treatment on my right eye, it pains under a sharp light This discussion is related to floaters are bothering.
Avatar f tn I recently have noticed eye floaters when looking at bright areas like the sky.
Avatar f tn The last time I saw my ophthalmologist I asked him if he can laser my floaters. He said laser cannot be used to zap floaters. The only way to get rid of floaters is by vitrectomy but the procedure is invasive (he showed with hand gesture how he will scoop it up, probably trying to scare me) and not worth the risks, that include retinal detachment.
Avatar m tn Can i feel save after laser treatment of my lattice? I'm worry about my vision in the future.. Why I see more floaters after laser treatment? Maybe because of my anxiety..?
Avatar f tn Go figure.....Anyway, question.....since you are an eye Doc with floaters yourself have you tried FOV or laser and if not, why? There are a couple of Doctors in Florida who keep coming up in forums who do floaters only. (No where near my vacation spot by the way) At the risk of still sounding obsessed, how do you ignore yours?
Avatar f tn However now some floaters are now being treated using a laser, though not all floaters can be treated that way. The method is called laser vitreolysis. There has been some controversy regarding the approach in the past, but there seem to be newer lasers with features designed explicitly to deal with floaters that are starting to get more use, the Ultra Q and LEH-Vitlase (I think they are different lasers, but it might simply be rebranding of the same one by a clinic).
Avatar f tn In general, I would not look to the yag laser as your cure for floaters but this might change in the future. If you do need a yag laser capsulotomy, then that is a generally safe and effective procedure.
Avatar m tn clock position also advised me for laser treatment and floaters are in vitrious not for retinal hole. Now i want to know is laser treatment necessary now or will it healing as usually. Sir please respond and send your kind response to my mail my mail address is shahi.
Avatar n tn The doctor checked my retina and said i have several holes and have a weak retina. He said it is advisible to undergo laser therapy which will stop further damage and floaters. I've heard that there is a lot of debate on this subject. And hence im confused where i should go for the laser therapy. I also have a couple of questions - 1- Do floaters go away eventually? 2- The doctor was sure that after the therapy there will be no more damage. Is this true?
Avatar f tn -with my lasered eye, I see new looking strands, floaters monthly. Flickering in nasal portion of lasered eye and a crescent clear shape...all of which my retina doc says is normal. They have checked and said all looks good.
Avatar f tn My question is a recently went to a retina specialst who suggest to do prohalytic 360 laser around my good eye I have now developed PVD which has freaked me out complete .... I see two floaters one really really big one and see flashes if I turn my had my question is am I screwed now that I have PVD of having a tear in my good eye and will the flashes ever stop or floaters ?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed last week as having four retinal tears in a small area. I had laser treatment and a correction laser treatment a couple of days later. Now, 3 days after the last treatment, I still see floaters, which I expected, but my vision is also not clear. I feel like I am looking through frosted glass. Is this normal and will it go away by itself after a few days or should I see my doctor again now?
Avatar m tn l am thinking of laser treatment, is that effective , also what about surgery to replace the liquid in the eye , is that very risky?
