Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your reply and your very easy-to-understand explanations. My pain when bending my knee is in the back of my leg (behind the knee I guess you could say) in my left leg and the groin pain is on the right side - what do you think about that?
Avatar f tn My left leg is in sooo much pain its throbing and feels like some one os stabbing me....
Avatar f tn right leg tkr Feb 2010; now have 2 cm leg length discrepancy. right leg is now longer as there was a straightening of the bowing in the right leg. Gait is terrible, recovery is slow. M.D. suggests shoe lifts and tkr for left leg to fix problem. Is 2 cm discrepancy acceptable standard medical practice? And, what assurance is there that left leg tkr will "match" right leg length?
Avatar m tn And for the record it seems my knee-area problem has 95% gone away. I am no longer aware of any stiffness and only notice a very slight twinge when squatting down. Yay, the body is a wonderful thing, but it didn't half take its time to heal.
Avatar f tn dietary changes, any new or increase medications, weight gain/loss, changes to a lower activity level eg sitting more than you use too and effecting circulation, flexibility, muscle strength, spasticity etc, I also think of things like where exactly the pain is eg knee, upper leg lower leg, hip, etc, if its the whole limb or an isolated muscle thigh, calf etc What type of pain do you feel eg ache, tight, burning, bee sting, spreading, sharp etc and If there is a pattern to the pain eg all the

Avatar m tn Now pain located vicinity of lateral collateral ligament and behind knee. Sharp pain behind knee upon straightening/standing. Also pain behind knee hen bending (I.e. Getting in an out of car, drivers side). Flexing foot to put shoe on cause sharpe pain around lateral collateral ligament. Knee slightly swollen an somewhat warm. Any ideas.
Avatar f tn I also noticed that I was hearing a lot of popping noises, which is usual, but now I was able to feel movement in my knee and pain when the popping occurred. In addition, when I tried to straighten my knee it would sometimes catch and I'd have to wiggle my knee to get it straight - and sometimes when I did this, something moved in my knee that seemed more like a "clunk" than a pop!
Avatar f tn Hi. I am experiencing a noise from my knee every time I walk up stairs or hills. I've been doing some hill work lately and the noise is really starting to get to me. I don't think I had any pain or swelling (but now that I'm worried I feel it may be hurting a little. I'm not sure if this is real or perceived.). It is only in my right knee. Earlier today I felt that it was giving way but this felt minor.
Avatar n tn Sometimes it feels like a charley horse or a cramp like pain, othertimes it is sharp. I have clicks in my knee when I extend it. There also seems to be a pocket of swelling in the soft tissue behind the joint on the back of my leg between the hamstrings.
1230912 tn?1273492770 Jen, I have the same thing happen whenever anything stimulates my right leg, the one that is slightly spastic. The leg will kick out at the knee, just as if someone had tapped my patellar (knee) tendon. this also happens when I rub lotion on the right foot. Anytime it is tickled, my spastic leg shoots out by straightening. If I am just getting into the shower and cold water hits the top of that foot it will jerk and release a couple times in very quick succession - like clonus.
Avatar n tn It is still sore and a little swollen. The pain is on the top left (inside) where the quad connects to the knee (when bent it feels like the top of the bone to the inside of the knee). It hurts to bend my knee after sitting for a long period of time and sometimes need to help it bend. To straighten out the knee doesn't hurt but when I tighten my quad, it is a little sore. There is some bruising on the inner part of the quad. I am hoping it is just a bad bruise and nothing serious.
1461944 tn?1286027942 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwSD8pDtpTE&feature=related i clicked on this off the first link you sent me, i did this exercise and it really has helped me within the first 15 minutes afterward i feel less pain and more flexible. i just tried that knee extensions which i did more of leg raises, my leg shook a lot probably from being weak, but it didn't cause me pain and now i feel a lot better.
Avatar n tn there is no definitive test for fibro - they do tests to rule out other diseases - is the pain in your knee or on the outside of the leg at your knee or the inside of the leg near your knee and have they checked for osteoarthritis - you said behind the knee - do you mean behind the patella (knee cap) or at the back of your leg behind the knee - try to be very precise when telling the doctor where exactly the pain is coming from - i dont know much about ms but i know pain comes with it - i belie
Avatar m tn At around the 3 month mark I found that when doing range of motion exercise with the left knee it seemed to catch when bending or straightening. When it caught there was a fair bit of accompanying pain. Now 3 months later that catching is still there, but does not seem to happen as frequently. I guess the full recovery time for each TKR patient will vary. My own surgeon states it can take up to a year.
Avatar m tn s a dull ache when resting or bending the knees (sitting with crossed legs) sometimes pain radiates into my shin They also sometimes make sounds. When straightening my knee, it makes a pop or a couple cracks. I also have a small bakers cyst on one leg. I've done an xray which was normal. My doctor inspected them and didn't suspect arthritis. He told me that my quads were weak. Any thoughts?
1306931 tn?1273540199 All I can suggest is that I take Nsaids like voltaren and it helps me with the arthritis in my knee. I also wear a knee brace when I walk or do any kind of physical activity. My knee makes a lot of crunching noises and sometimes its painful, but at least I can walk now. But yes you would need to call your orthopedic on your knee.
Avatar n tn I have pain behind my knee and my leg is swollen in the calf. I was checked for blood clot and it was negative. I feel heat coming out of my knee when I place an ice pack on it. It warms the ice pack quickly. My thigh is swollen too, but all the pain is in my knee. It hurts to touch the bones in my knee. My ankles are a little swollen and also the calf on the other leg. I have had a meniscus tear and arthritis in one knee and baker's cyst in the other.
1493284 tn?1294875712 Suddenly my left leg went rigid at the knee, involuntarily straightening. At the time, my instant association was it felt like a rubber band was being pulled taut behind my knee. It lasted less than a minute and I just laid there, surprised, until it relaxed again. I see the neuro on Wednesday and am preparing my *list* of stuff. He hates being "bombarded" with symptoms so I'm trying to list by signficance. Thanks!
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Osteo arthritis and my right knee is bone on bone - however I seem to have severe leg problems even though my knee rarely hurts. Also my lower pain constantly hurts. I can not walk a half block nor stand for more than 5 minutes, my legs burn and ache constantly and I have no leg strength. No one else I know has these problems with the arthritis - aches and pains yes - but they can walk - I can barely walk and it hurts to do so. No pain medications even ease the pain.
Avatar m tn I have a lot of pain behind my left knee & my left leg calf has a lot of pressure in it. It feels like it wants to burst. I have been taking therapy but isn't working. With two hips replaced & degenerated discs I'm getting to hate pain. I was doing good after hips replaced but know this pain has come in. What could be causing this pain.
Avatar f tn QUITE A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED GETTING ACHES IN BOTH LEGS, I PUT IT DOWN TO THE MENOPAUSE, ANYWAY 6 WEEKS AGO THE PAINS SEEMED TO BE GETTING WORSE I HOPED IT WOULD GO AWAY, 3 WEEKS AGO I NOTICED MY LEFT KNEE WAS PAINFUL AND SWOLLEN, MY DOCTOR SENT ME FOR AN XRAY I HAD GOT MODERATE OSTEOARTHRITIS OF MY KNEE, UNFORTUNATELY AT THE MOMENT I HAVE TO HOLD ONTO SOMETHING TO GET UP OUT OF A CHAIR AND A STRUGGLE TO CLIMB STAIRS, WHILST SITTING I GET PAIN IN OTHER LEG I AM ONLY 55 BUT I FEEL ABOUT 70, I
Avatar f tn I have pain in leg that started in calf of leg, then went to knee. Now my entire leg hurts when I try to walk. I went to my doctor and he said it is arthritis of the knee. Can arthritis of the knee affect the leg this badly, to the point that I cannot put all my weight on the leg and am limping? He ruled out any clots in leg. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Avatar f tn At this point the doctor suggested taking out the pin in his hip o we did that and he placed a bracket in the knee to stop the growth of one side of his leg in hopes of straightening his leg. The leg does seem to be straightening however he still will not walk. Many years ago i took him to the doctor because of hi s abnormal gait. His patella when sitting would always go out of place but when he stood it would go back.
