895634 tn?1283989210 Taking pain killers for the pain is not the proper treatment for kidney stones. Taking a pain killer to avoid the pain is not good medicine. It is masking the underlying condition which can be a serious one. A hepatologist is not an expert in kidney disease. They should refer you to a Urologist. A Urologist specializes in diseases and conditions of the kidneys and urinary track.
Avatar n tn lithrotripsy is a walk in the park ive had 2 of them and have kidney stones since 1995!!
Avatar m tn Small kidney stones may naturally be expelled through the urine while bigger stones may cause obstruction and infection. Take the medicine as prescribed and do keep us posted with your follow-up. Best regards.
Avatar f tn Dr. Lupo, I had started seeing a neurologist in 2000 for really bad headaches and tingling in my arm hands, legs and feet. After several years with them they did some bloodwork on me and told me I needed to see a rheumatologist. I have been seeing a rheumotologist for what have been rheumatoid arthritis symptoms since April of 2006. My doctor recently did a dexa scan on me which came back that I have severe osteoporosis. I am 49. I have been on blood pressure medicine since 2006.
1063644 tn?1278643267 I have a four year old Pug with a diagnosis of a Portosystemic Shunt. Secondary to that, she forms sludge, crystals, and bladder stones. I'm told that organic celery juice given daily helps with bladder infections. Do you think that this would help my Pug with her shunt, which by the way, is not repairable (she had surgery to fix it but was not able to be done for a few reasons)? She is currently on Prescription food, 250mg of Flagyl, and Lactulose.
Avatar m tn There are testimonials from people who had their dogs checked/xrayed after they were diagnosed with stones and given the herbal medicine for 3 months or so. Anyone know about this or is it a scam?
Avatar n tn I have had recurrent kidney stones since 2000 in 2001 I finally was told that I have Medullary Sponge Kidneys the problem is that in the last 2 months I have passed at least one stone a week and I am sick of being in continuous pain. The ER won't do anything but give me pain medicine and sometimes treats me as if I am just a seeker of drugs.
Avatar m tn The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of stones. However, stones less than 4 mm in diameter located in the lower ureter have a 90% change of passing. In contrast, stones greater than 6 mm in diameter have only a 20% chance of passing spontaneously." So, I don't think you could do it without getting medical intervention to make it smaller first, since yours is 16 mm.
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had kidney stones during your pregnancy and what did the pain feel like. I went to the hospital earlier and was sent home and told I was just experiencing round lig pain but I'm a bit skeptical of that verdict because it lasted for hours and the pain was so intense. I didn't test positive for a uti either but idk what to think. I dont have bloody urine but i swear i peed out something resembling a small pebble earlier too.
Avatar m tn but as he was not giving medicine for the cure of stone and he was also saying that treatment is not available in that hospital i left the IVP test. Now what should i do. Size of stones are 10.9 mm in right kidney and 7.9 mm in left kidney (both in mid pole region) A copy of ultrasonography report is attached here.and other reports were normal except urin test in which 10-12 cells/HPF of RBCs were found. Please help me for further treatment.
Avatar n tn Two brothers who inherited their fathers herbal recipes and studies in the US. They had lots of kidney stones in their practice. Amazing what people were able to pee out, instead of getting operated for the stones. I didn't release stones, but my urine was clouded from the calcification and calcium was detectable on the lab reports. It became clearer and clearer until my labs were normal. He also helped my ex husband with his liver.
Avatar m tn I have three kidney stones on in my left kidney (4mm, 6mm, 9mm) they have been there for about a year. Doctor considers them "non obstructive". I get my next ultra sound in April to see if they got bigger or moved. However lately I have some symptoms that can be kidney related. Sometimes I get a bout of nausea - like just a "blah general feeling" last can last up to an hour.
Avatar n tn Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is the most commonly used medical treatment for kidney stones. It uses shock waves that pass easily through the body but are strong enough to break up a kidney stone. If ESWL does not work or if you have a very large stone, Percutaneous nephrolithotomy or nephrolithotripsy is done. The surgeon puts a narrow telescope into the kidney through a cut in your back. He or she then removes the stone or breaks it up and removes it.
535822 tn?1443976780 First of all I have kidney stones ever present inside my kidney. They don't usually cause problems. About 3-4 weeks ago, I started having symptoms resembling a stomach bug (diarrhea) and fatigue for a couple of days, then started having flank pain. Went to urgen care and they gave me 3 days worth of cipro. She said I had a "few" white blood cells in my urine, but that was all. She also ordered a CT scan.

Avatar n tn My 3.5 year old male pug had surgery to remove kidney stones four days ago. He has been bleeding from the surgery site very regularly and also from his penis. Is this normal, how long will it last, and is there anything I can do to make him heal faster? Thank you.
Avatar f tn My best healing results have come from Traditional Chinese Medicine. I don't know where you live but there's likely to be a TCM practitioner someplace near you if you live near a city or a good sized town. It involves a whole body assessment from an eastern perspective, acupuncture, if possible, and specific herb combinations depending on what his/her findings are. I wish you the best. I'm sorry about your discontinued treatment.
Avatar n tn She is has already been operated on the kidney for her kidney stones when she was 8yrs old( she has weak kidney) and also a sinus problem. I need some help to understand if at all there is any alternative medicine without giving her chemo.
Avatar m tn I have had kidney stones for about 5 years and I have been to the ER and doctors at times due to intense pain that at times cripples me because im not able to move. The doctors say that the stones are about 2mm and will eventually pass but I still have them after 5 years. I was prescribed vicodin for the pain but those have huge side effects on me. I suggest to them about having surgery either laser or the sonar that breaks them up but they say no.
