Avatar f tn I still feel pain when I touch my tooth and still after 3 weeks unable to open my mouth without pain around my Jaw. Please advice me what might be the reason.
Avatar f tn t even yawn in peace anymore or even brush my teeth properly without feeling pain when I try to open my mouth more. This has gone on for three days. I feel a swelling-like bump when I touch the outside of my face. At first I thought it was because of my only grown wisdom tooth because that side of my mouth is where I feel my jaw is locked. That wisdom tooth hasn't bothered me ever since it first started growing, so I didn't think it's because of the tooth.
Avatar n tn t remember my first encounter with such pain, but I remember it being very painful. I remember very well that when I would open my mouth, my jaw would lock. I had to open my mouth at its fullest to unlock my jaw. It clicked very frequently. It would lock for one day the disappear for a few days then resume. Then in January of 2016, my jaw locked and I was unable to unlock it. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to get it back to normal. It finally did so later.
998476 tn?1249839997 It may be that the jaw or muscles that open your mouth are traumatized by the extractions. Try to take pain medication, ice/warm pack the muscles and try to stretch it out from time to time. Also, let your doctor know in case its an infection and antibiotics are needed. Try to go on a soft or liquid diet and your opening should increase gradually but it may take up to several weeks to fully open again.
Avatar f tn I have felt pain on and off the entire time since but this weekend I got to where I could hardly open my mouth to eat without having a lot of pain. I know I need to go to the doctor but I do not have the money to go. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas to ease some of the pain.
Avatar n tn It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?
Avatar n tn My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!
Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I had the surgery and left hospital the following day, ( I had, total numbness in the right side of my face and a great difficulty with my Jaw, unable to open my mouth much and totally unable to open my mouth and 'stick' my tongue out). However I could now brush my teeth, eat a solid meal & I was pain FREE, I was still on the max dosage of medications and I was eager to reduce these, until I was no longer taking these.(I was looking forward to returning to, A LIFE)!
Avatar f tn When I went back to the dentist to have the crown put on, I mentioned the jaw pain to her. She said that it happens and could have been from having my mouth open too wide or from the injection hitting a nerve. (I do remember an almost shock or jolt when she gave me one of the shots.) She prescribed a corticosteroid pack to be taken over a 6 day period. Today is the last day of the pack and the pain came back with a vengeance this morning.

Avatar n tn My dentist and the specialist has been unable to help me and basically told me to wait for it to resolve on its own.
Avatar n tn There is NO PAIN except when I open my mouth....the jaw hurts, or the muscle in the jaw. Is this from the shots the dentist gave me before he extracted the tooth?
2932946 tn?1344722012 She also goes to a chiropractor for them to adjust her jaw. When he does her jaw, he only manipulates her mandible, so it may be ok for Chiari patients to try.
Avatar n tn About 10 days ago I had a root canal done on my left lower last molar. My dentists have always commented that I have a very small mouth. She used a prop device placed on the right side but for much of the procedure asked me to open wider since she had to get way into the back. The root canal procedure went well but since then I have had alot of pain in my jaw joint (actually on the upper jaw) and difficulty opening my mouth very wide.
Avatar f tn I think I have TMJ, although no dentist has agreed with me, but my jaw clicks and I can see it shift when I open my mouth. So now I have this jaw pain that almost seems connected somehow to my neck -- just not sure if it's a possibility?? And how can I relieve it??!!?? Any input is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I have had a nagging pain in the back of my mouth for almost 3 months now. The pain is located in the hard palate area above my molars on the right side. Dental X-rays have revealed that nothing is wrong. My wisdom teeth are still intact, but 3 dentists and 2 oral surgeons have assured me that they do not need to come out and would not be causing the pain. The pain is like a sharp pressure in that area of my mouth. Almost feels like a sinus infection in that palate/gum region.
Avatar n tn I had pain in my jaw too and could not open my mouth to eat more than 1/2 inch. The dentist opened my mouth too wide . This problem went away after 3 days. Next time the dentist did not open my mouth so wide. I have a very small mouth so the average person may be able to handle their jaws to be opened very wide. Next time make sure you tell your dentist not to open it so wide. I think your jaw will get better in time. I would suggest taking Advil due to inflammation. Hope this helps.
1217614 tn?1333510259 To massage the masseter muscles on each side of your jaw, place your thumb inside your mouth and squeeze the thick muscle in your cheek with your fingers. To massage the jaw muscles inside your mouth, use your index finger to probe and massage these spots. Moist heat or cold packs on the face, vitamin supplements, or biofeedback are useful for some people. Usually people find a method that brings relief by trial and error. Consult an ENT specialist.

I cant even turn my head in the direction that this knot is in. The pain meds the dentist prescribed me doesnt help with the pain. My dentist said this was normal but I dont think it is, my mom had the same surgery and didnt have the knot and pain like I have. Thanks to all!
422172 tn?1215990852 That stands for tempomandibular joint (if I remember correctly). It means the hinges that allow your jaw to open. The hinges are right next to your ears. If you touch or manipulate the bad side, does it hurt there? Your dentist can confirm whether or not you have this disorder. It's not usually part of MS, but it can be. I had a lot of trouble there for several months in '06, but it finally abated and has not retuned.
Avatar f tn I am getting a bridge made for my bottom left side and had my mouth open for a total of 5 hours in 1 day. The pain in my jaw was severe, and my ear feels like there is something in it. There is also a noise when I chew, or open my mouth. I can't open my mouth very big yet, but it is improving. There is no clicking sound when I open and close my mouth . It is more of a whooshing sound. I have a temporary bridge in and although it is not great the bite is OK. My Dr.
