A slightly stuffy nose, but nothing I would have taken Claritin or Sudafed for had the doctor had not told me to do so.

I've been diagnosed with tmj-the jaw swells causing major pain throughout the head. You need to get a MRI of jaw to rule out TMJ (temporal mandibular joint). I have the same symptoms. The doctor ordered Valium for the evening before bed, and Naproxen, which is an inflammatory prescription.
Hi, I also have tons of joint pain and also swelling. My knees are horrible, as are my hands and fingers. They did find some cartilidge disintegration in my knees, but everything else they are saying is fibro. I also have spine issues, two herniated discs in my neck and kyphosis. Now I am having terrible pain in my low back, butt area and down my legs. This is the worst yet. What I get is both joint and muscle pain. It moves around. I get pain in my jaw even.
I have been experiencing mild - severe joint pain and muscle/joint stiffness for the last 2 months, and it keeps getting worse. I have seen a doctor at a wellness clinic inside my employers office building. She was no help. She ran blood work and said I was negative for a Rheumetoid factor, and negative ABA test. She said overally I am very healthy. The only thing she found was I am anemic, and I have a low grade fever.
It is very common in adults older than 45 and can cause joint pain. joint pain may also be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the bursae). The bursae are fluid-filled sacs that cushion and pad bony prominences, allowing muscles and tendons to move freely over the bone. For nonarthritis joint pain, both rest and exercise are important. Warm baths, massage, and stretching exercises should be used as frequently as possible. Anti-inflammatory medications may help relieve pain and swelling.
I am a 62 year old woman. I had a crown replaced a year ago. It continued to be sensitive and seemed to cause a bad taste in my mouth. After new e-ray my dentist did not think it was anything to worry about. One weekend in April 2009 my tooth started to throb and my jaw as swollen under the tooth (next to last on bottom) . My dentist called in a perscription for antibotic on Monday. I was hurting so bad that I went to a new denist and he said I had a massive, cronic abcess.

With my Lupus I get the bone pain, muscle pain, joint pain and myofascial pain. With the jaw it could be from TMJ. I've had that most of my life and it is something that often goes along with Lupus.
) And, the pain...I can hardly take it anymore. Now it’s in every joint and pinching all the nerves. I am planning a trip to Mayo in Feb or March 2008 - whenever I can get in. I'm desperate. My body feels like it is collapsing. Docs say not EDS and I agree. They are trying me on Enbrel. After one month...no change and in fact I'm worse. All my joints catch and crunch. It's scary. Really scary, in fact. How can we get in touch with each other?
I am nineteen years old. Recently, I've been having severe joint pain and swelling, accompanied by chronic fatigue, headaches, limited range in movement, and occasional fever and/or nausea. I also have a very hard time sleeping, and have and extremely bad, deep, non stop cough. I had been to the doctor for this around the time when it all started which was when i was graduating high-school. I was in and out of the children's hospital non stop, and numerous rounds of bloodwork had been done.
some days I have to wash her hair for her, and even aplly her deodorant because she is unable to raise her arms due to shoulder pain. joint pain and swelling began immediately after she started Accutane. Her dermatologist lowered the dosage and told us the side effect was temporary. She finished her course, and her skin is gorgeous now. The cost, however, has been devastating. Her doctors tell us Accutane did not cause the arthritis. I wonder...
Funny how alll questions concerning jaw pain do not have replies posted. I too suffer from this. It has happend two or three times over the course of 4 years of going to a dentist to get a crown replaced, the same crown. I've had pain and swelling I was afraid I had the mumps or cancer or swollen glands. I mentiond it to my Doctor and he shrugged and said yea it could be TMJ and that was the end of his concern.
My father is 54 years old (non smoker) and for the past 3 years he's been having a reoccurring pain/swelling around the neck/jaw area (right hand side - around wisdom tooth but its not that). Sharp kind of pain that suddenly appears and is similar to nerves being trapped more or less. We have seen dentist, doctors and done x-rays, ultra sounds and so on but everything appears to be fine. It calms down with antibiotics but its no cure... Do you have any advice what could be causing this?
and I am desperately trying to figure out why I continue to break out in hives and have joint pain in my elbows, feet, hands and legs. I too started breaking out in hives after taking the antibotic Solodyn for acne. After a trip to the ER, it was assumed that I had an alergic reaction to the medicine. I stopped taking the medicine after only 3 weeks and needless to say, I am still breaking out in hives and have joint pain. I have been tested for allergies and that was negative.
