Itchy scalp morning

Common Questions and Answers about Itchy scalp morning

itchy

By the following morning, I had a severe rash on my scalp. Only thing is, it's only on the left side of my scalp (where the comb caused irritation). Is it an allergic reaction or something else? And it itches so bad it sometimes burns. What can I do to get rid of it? I've tried Lotrimin (which is intended for jock-itch but surprisingly soothed my scalp for a few hours), Scalpicin, Selsun Blue, Aloe Vera, & benadryll.
Itchy scratchy scalp has been one of my major sx and the only way I found around it is to use a shampoo and conditioner that contains NO Sodium Laurel Sulphates (SLS) at all. If I do, my head itches and burns and I find that it spreads all over my body. Which would make sense as when I wash my hair in the shower the residue runs over my body. I am using only natural products on my skin and scalp now. You can get organic ranges that have no SLS in them.
Good Morning, Just a question... suddenly I've developed a itch, crawly sensation! I think I've had it before but honestly can't remember. I have a cold and suddenly feel like there is something crawling on me starting with my scalp. I've checked there is nothing there! Not taking or doing anything different. As some of you will remember I was diagnosed with PPMS in 2008. I don't have "relaspes" things just seem to appear at times.
Good morning, my 15-year old son has had a very itchy scalp for almost a year now-he says the itch feels like it is coming from the inside, as if a million creepy crawlies are in his head - he has seen doctor 3 times; he has been told to use neutrogena T-Gel shampoo, and to use ratio-Ectosone betamethasone valerate lotion 0.1% (scalp). He feels none of it is working and is going crazy with this feeling inside his head - please help as soon as possible. TX!
There is a sandy-grainy like build up on my scalp This is also accompanied by an itch. Even after I wash my hair, the grainy like build up is still there. It is NOT flaky what so ever. My hair has also started to fall out and at the end of my hair, a white little grain is at the end. Hair will not stop falling out. I have gotten blood tests at a dermatology office and everything was normal. I also have tried about very type of zinc pyrithione shampoo, at the highest concentrations.
Hello Dr Lupo, I have had hypothyroidism, as a result of Hashimoto's, for 5 years now. Symptom management has been difficult. My TSH is currently 1.02. I know that level is considered "perfect", but I am still having problems with itchy scalp, hair loss, joint pain in the hands, mood swings, irritability and anxiety. I've read that some people with Hashimoto's can also have adrenal involvement, could these symptoms be related to that?
I finally found a good natural hydrating lotion for my skin. But my scalp is itchy, sometimes feeling slightly burnt. I'd love to find something like my skin lotion but made for hair and scalp. It makes sense to me that if I have lizard skin, my scalp must be turning reptilian too. Any ideas?
I recently used some hair dye and my scalp had a bad reaction to it. I had a little dry scalp previously but nothing crazy. After my scalp was so dry and itching all the time and scabbing. I tried the Shielo Hydrate Shampoo and it was INSTANT relief. I also feel like it took it away, my scalp does itch anymore.
My scalp is very red, slightly smelly and itchy, however it is only down the centre part of my hair. In addition, I am losing handfuls of hair every time I wash it. I have tried oral antibiotics, topical antifungals, corticosteriods, coconut oil, Head & Shoulders shampoo for itchy scalp, Nizoral shampoo and Neutrogena Tar shampoo, however, nothing has improved my scalp. It started about five months ago and it is getting more severe.
Thanks for this post. I have an extremely itchy scalp right now, and these posts may help me as well. Crigger -- Never heard of Dr. Bronner products, so I looked them up. The liquid soap doesn't say what it's for (hair, body, hands), which I thought was kinda weird. But I did see that they have a conditioner too. And you're right, the thought of peppermint sounds soothing. Might give this a try.
Hi, I have a small patch of pink skin on my scalp that is tender and has previously been slightly itchy. There is no flaking, no rash (bumps or spots), and no hair loss. It has been going on for months, but has only become bothersome in the last few weeks. I have tried dandruff shampoo and have taken a dose of oral diflucan (for an unrelated condition) since I first noticed the problem, and neither have helped.
So I told I could with it, but now I think I changed my mind. My was so itchy and the skin around was itchy that the doctor gave me medicine to get rid of the itch. I was wondering how did your procedure go? Is the wart completely gone?
This only dries my scalp and mikes it even more itchy which then causes sores on my scalp. How do people get psoriasis; is there a cause? Also, is there a more invasive treatment? I need a little break from this, it drives me crazy morning noon and night!!
I noticed these small pus filled bumps on her scalp. Could this really be herpes??? I had a vaginal culture and was advised that I only have HSV2 and not HSV1. Before my diagnosis, I felt like I was getting a sinus infection which I have had in the past. After I got the results and did a bit of internet searching I seen where HSV can be in the mouth. I noticed small red bumps on the roof of my mouth an a small bit of white pus on my tonsil.
Sorry I don't know how to edit my post and I just noticed autocorrect changed *zinc pyrithione to sink. Also, a quick clarification my daughter has no dandruff, itchy scalp or scalp discoloration "just" the odor.
Approximately ten years ago I was diagnosed with a sebaceous cyst on my scalp. I didnt give it much though since I trusted my doctor. Over the past several years, I find it is getting larger and it does NOT seem to be mobile, which Im told sebaceous cysts are. Could this be cancer After all of these years? I cant get an apt. with my dermatologist for two weeks so I thought that maybe til than someone can put my mind at ease. Thank you in advance.

best remedy and natural for itchy scalp is apple cider vinegar mixed with half water and vinegar in a spray bottle about 2 o/z size spray all over your scalp leave on for half hour shampoo and condition twice a week till all is well.
The only thing now is that from washing my hair so much my scalp is a bit itchy, but whatever I'd rather have that then sticky hair. I'm going to start using Nizoral shampoo to take the itchiness away plus it is supposed to take the sticky/wax away the pharmacist said to use it 3 times a week and hopefully it will bring my hair back to normal. Do not bother changing shampoos or going out and trying out different products just use the dish wash it will work. Hope this helps!
Arms covered in really itchy red what looks like hives. Started last week now has spread to my legs and back, even one on my face. Have used 2% hydrocortisone, Benedril, Anthisan, chamomile oil, lavender oil, hemp oil, the green bottle gold bond, Eucerin. Dr. suggested that I take some Claritin so I'm on my third day with little relief. This was not one of my sx on my first round of tx. Will call Dr. on monday. Has anyone had these terrible itchies? Any suggestions?
Excessively sensitive scalp could be due to scalp inflammation caused due to diet, stress, internal hormonal imbalances or a bacterial/ fungal infection. The symptoms could be severe itching, redness, pimples, oily scalp, flaking, crusting causing bleeding. It could be something more serious like temporal arteritis. This is the inflammation and damage to the large blood vessels that supply the head, usually branching in the neck from carotid artery, usually the temporal artery.
I typically do it for a six month period before I force myself to stop, then maybe a few years later I'll find a small bump on my scalp and start the process all over again until I wake up in the morning with blood under my nails or an infection sets in and there is pus. My husband thinks it's disgusting and it is. I have even gone as far as saving all the white scabs.

Hello, From the symptoms the possibility of tinea capitis is there. The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck. Treatment includes washing the scalp with shampoo with selenium sulfide (2.5%) or zinc pyrithione (1-2%) used 2-3 times weekly at home. Oral steroids, Griseofulvin and oral antifungals may also be required. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
Please post the results of any recent thyroid blood work. Include reference ranges as these vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. It sounds like you might need your meds increased.
Doesn't make since, I have the same small blisters on my scalp. not only on my scalp not but on my arms, shoulders, neck & chest. I have been to doctors and had biopsy and nothing. Just have to keep dealing with it. Anxity is the only thing that doctors think that may be causing it. The big problem is the don't heal, they break and then fill again with liquid. The few I got to heal turned into a scar.
