Avatar f tn I recently had a wrist fusion, and a tendon repair after a ruptured thumb extensor tendon due to rheumatiod arthritis. During my recovery, the pin from the fusion was rejected by my body and ended up in my trigger finger preventing extensor movement, and so I then had to have more surgery to move the pin back into a more secure position, and so far the pin has stayed secure. I had the dressings removed a few days ago, and have found that I now have no extensor function in my little finger?
Avatar m tn The most pain arises deep in the wrist joint if I were to lean into my hand flat on the floor in the direction of my index finger knuckle while on my hands and knees, moderate pain arises over the scaphoid and in the insertion point of the tendon with extension of the hand while just standing up with no pressure of any sort, and mild pain over the lunate with flexion of the hand while standing up. This has been on going for many months and was not caused by any injury to the hand.
Avatar m tn Here are the MRi results- 1. mild thickening and increased signal of extensor carpi ulnaris tendon just beyond the ulnar styloid as well as distally toward the hamate. 2. small amount of fluid is seen along the tendon sheath of the extensor carpi radialis as well as distally along the flexors of the middle finger at the metacarpophalangeal joint. 3. small amount of fluid in the metacarpophalangeal joints, diffusely. Nonspecific. 4.

Avatar m tn Your tendons of the hand are inserted into the bones called phalanges. When you had that cut, most probably deep enought to cut the flexor/extensor tendon and you are having pain at the site and also in your hands with movements due to this. Go for an Orthopaedician examination and confirm the diagnosis and you would need rest, strapping of that finger and anti inflammatory drugs to cure your problem. Take care!
1744581 tn?1311302411 I cut the knuckle of my R index finger on a deli/meat slicer 2 days ago, The ER dr said I had a layer of fat over the muscle left over the bone & that was it. I got 12 stitches. The dr didn't think I cut the tendon b/c I could move my index finger although I had a lot of pain. He diagnosed it as a AVULSION INJURY.
Avatar m tn I took a puck off of my right index finger and didn't really notice any immediate pain. Over the next couple days I noticed that I couldn't form a fist because my finger was very swollen and hurt to bend that far. Upon further observation I noticed that my first finger knuckle had become very wide, but the rest of my finger remained regular size. It is also very sensitive to touch.
Avatar f tn Tenosynovitis of the extensor carpi ulnaris, extensor digitorum and extensor indicies tendons. Subluxed appearance of the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon. Intact TFCC I have no idea what to do from here. I am in significant amounts of pain and my doctor just wants to keep giving me cortison injections.
Avatar m tn I had surgery the following day and had 2 pins inserted into my index finger. I had those pins in my index finger for 4 weeks (just had them removed on 1/10/11). I haven't been able to move that index finger for 4 weeks since the pins were still in there, as any movement in that finger caused extreme pain...but now my index finger seems to be stuck in that same position (slightly curved, as if holding a cup).
Avatar m tn hello,i had surgery on my right forearm 1 and a half month ago (cut radial nerve, extensor tendon and radial vein) 6 days ago i removed my cast, but 2 days ago i slipped and fell and felt great pain around my wrist which lasted for 1 hour and ok.. but today, when i touch or lean my forearm on something,i get al electrifying weakness pain which sprads through my whole arm (i feel it best a few mm left of my medial nerve). maybe its a ulnar nerve.my pinky and ring finger twitch a little randomly.
Avatar m tn There is sudden passive flexion of the distal interphalangeal joint so that extensor tendon pf the distal interphalangeal joint is avulsed from its insertion at the base of the distal phalanx. Try immobilization of the distal interphalangeal joint in hyperextension with the help of an aluminium splint or plaster cast. See if the fracture has healed and follow up with a finger expert (orthopedician) Take care!

Avatar n tn My right index finger has been swollen for a month now. the knuckle is painful to the touch, but i'm able to bend it. Any ideas what it could be?? Thanks for any help!

472190 tn?1207472571 Hi Doc, First of all, I want to say this is a rather long story and I hope you read it. My name is Nick(26yrs) and I severed a tendon on Nov. 26, 2007 after punching through a glass window in my door. It was very bad to say the least. Right after I did this I thought that I cut an artery because so much blood was coming out. Also, I couldn't lift my hand up with my wrist. It was just hanging there but I could move my fingers.
1524304 tn?1326396974 Two days I have new symptom- extensor pain at lateral (outer?) side of finger all the way up to fingertip and especially at knuckles. I still try to decide what exactly the problem might be because it doesn't seem like there's anything about bone, more like volar (palmar) plate involved. If anyone could suggest anything it'd be helpful.
467797 tn?1216211257 I have had about 5 corticosteroid injections in my left index finger over the course of those 3 years. Previously the shots did wonders and I was pain free, but not with my last injection. My finger is stuck in a bowed position, the tendon is standing out and feels very hard and it (finger and joint) gets very swollen. Also, pain is radiating down into my palm In the past few days, my finger is now slightly tingling but I am not sure if it's from the TF or my Raynaud's.
Avatar f tn Any info anyone has is greatly appreciated My husband cut his tendon (not all the way through) in his index finger (one that runs along the top) 3 weeks ago (near the base of his finger)...he was treated in emergency where they stitched it together and gave him a splint to wear. He has been in a lot of pain since and had a lot of swelling that is still happening. He has seen our family dr a couple of times who doesn't think it's doing as well as it should.
Avatar m tn Turns out arthritic carpal bones have injured tendons to 1st thumb then index finger a month later. Wrist has to be fused to prevent further damage and carpal tunnel tendon repair attempted in 2 separate surgeries. Can I do any kind of (light) weight training or use a rowing machine after healing up?
1625195 tn?1332178662 There is little to no numbness. The ring finger is the same as well. But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything.
Avatar n tn After the bite, my left hand went numb from my index finger to my thumb. I woke up this morning and have regained feeling in my index finger, but am still experiencing numbness in the thumb region. Should I seek medical attention or will it heal by itself?
Avatar f tn Although just now I have a sharp pain going from his time my thumb and index not little finger as first thought in past weeks straight up my left fore arm. Also does anyone know could your period make things worse? As for maybe last 2 weeks or so uncomfortable pains has eased off abit. So what is this without bothering the doctor?
Avatar m tn It occurs when I press the left side of the joint ( the one closest to my index finger) using my thumb. I don´t know if it is the bone or some kind of ligament or tendon that is actually moving, but I can fell something moves out of place. I don´t feel any kind of pain and the joint seens to be working properly.
12035457 tn?1423027595 I believe that what you have is called Contracture of Extensor Hallucis Longus Tendon. A tendon going to your big to is contracted or to tight. You need to go to a Podiatrist to confirm this. If I am correct, I think the only way to address the issue is through surgery. Please go see a doctor to get this checked out.
Avatar m tn hi all, I recently had a fall as a result of a sporting injury about 6 weeks ago ago. here is the latest scan taken 2 weeks ago. https://postimg.cc/mc2qk0mx waited 2 weeks to get a scan. To quote the report: " partial thickness tear of the extensor tendon measuring 6x6mm & there is a non displaced radial neck fracture" i was put into a cast and sling for 2 weeks. after the 2 weeks - i had another scan done. the fracture hadnt fully healed.
